Jon (jonmoss) Nor is Patrick Rothfuss' The Wise Man's Fear mentioned, which will probably be my top read of 2011.

Or any of Janny Wurts' novels I read this year, including the recently released Initiate's Trial.

message 4: by Traci (new)

Traci I feel the same way. Lol. I joined here almost a year ago and have been playing catch up too. Next year I plan to read more new books. This year I think I read four...maybe six.

Sandra (sleo) | 1059 comments I seldom agree with these lists.

Michael (michaeljsullivan) | 302 comments Yeah "best of" lists are always in high contention. Still I've found a lot of books that I didn't even know exist from looking at them. For instance the GoodReads Choice lists have been a nice source of inspiration.

message 8: by Helen (new)

Helen | 1 comments AT least Rothfuss is on this one.

message 9: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) and at the top of the list where he belongs.

Elizabeth Risley (ElizabethRisley) | 228 comments It would be nice to see a collection of "Best of lists and see what books show up on multiple ones...Prediction: Dance with Dragons and Wise Man's Fear.

message 11: by Traci (new)

Traci I'm not surprised but disappointed to not see The Crippled God on any of these lists. I'm finishing up the Malazan series this weekend and although it takes a certain commitment of the reader this is the most orginal, imaginative, engaging series I have ever read.

Pretty phenomenal list with some really great debuts and some good stuff.

Elizabeth Risley (ElizabethRisley) | 228 comments Good point Bryan - the list does indeed have both new and established represented - a nice balance.
