Welcome to the MobileRead Book Challenges Group! This post is to help you find your way around the group. As you get settled in, please stop by the Introduce Yourself! thread and tell us a little about yourself.

I. Rules and Membership Info
Our rules primarily revolve around common courtesy: No spamming, no unapproved self-promotion, no harassment of other members. The one exception to self-promotion is in your personal challenge threads - Review bloggers who are tracking their reading may link to their blog reviews of the books they read during the challenge.

We do welcome non-Mobileread members, but we ask that you do not advertise this group anywhere else. We're a public group, but we've managed to stay below the radar so far, and the result is a small but wonderful group of people, without the problems that plague many other groups. If you have one or two Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ friends that you feel would be a good fit, invite them over, but be aware that anyone who spams, self-promotes, or harasses any member in this group (whether in the group, via PM, or elsewhere) will be immediately removed and blocked. Choose carefully who you invite.

II. Challenges

At the moment, one of the first things you'll see on the group page is a couple of our current Group Challenges. To see the rest of them, click on Challenges at the top of that section, or click here to go straight to the challenges. Many of our challenges (such as the series challenges) are fairly free-form - if you choose to join one, you decide how many of the books involved you wish to read. When you join, it will ask you for a shelf name. If the shelf does not already exist, it will automatically create it. Only books added to that shelf with a read date will count towards the challenge. (The Challenges feature is in perpetual beta and we still don't know what Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ plans to do with it. I don't foresee drastic changes, but things could change, and we will do our best to work with what we're given if that happens.)

III. Discussions

Also on the front page, you will find our discussion board. If you are reading this, I'm guessing you've already found it.

Announcements - Here you will find any group news, information about new features and other important stuff.

General Chat - This is the place for anything that doesn't fit somewhere else. Feel free to start discussions here.

Group Challenges & Discussions - In addition to challenges, this is also the place to discuss specific books or authors, and you can also propose new challenges or see if anyone is interested in doing a buddy read of a specific book.

(Year) Individual Challenges - Here, each person can create their own thread for tracking their personal reading challenges. We're pretty social here, and have a tendency to post all over each other's threads, so if you don't want that to happen you can either make a note to that effect in your thread, or (my preferred method) "reserve" your first several posts for your own use, then let the others have a free-for-all in the rest of it. We tend to start the following year's folder pretty early, so feel free to start planning next year's challenge as soon as it shows up.

There is also an Archive folder, where old and outdated threads are moved. Those threads are closed to further comment, but are not deleted.

That's about it! Over on the right of the home page, you'll see the list of moderators, and we're happy to help you with anything you need. Feel free to reply below if you have any questions, or PM one of the mods.

I couldn't risk it. (Yes, that was a joke.) "
