Roberta (robbi_t) Ok, here goes.. the book was written by a female British author who had, in fact, at one time been a teacher in a British boys' school. The main character is the child of a drunken school custodian... the mother had run off... the child pretends to go to the school where the father works... befriends other students... there is a twist ending...
(You're not going to get this, are you?)
