Ooh, that is on my list to read soon. I've been putting it off just because I haven't been in the mood for something that long. Glad to see you liked it though.

Charleen, I've read "Gone With the Wind" several times. The first was when I was a teen-ager. I have seen different things in it and have related to it quite differently at the various stages of my life.

Karol | 186 comments 49. Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story by Gregg Lewis, 4/5 stars, 142 pages.

I read the adaptation for tweens/teens that was based on the original. I was sort of previewing this for my 12-year old son and I do think he will like it. But now I definitely want to read the original!

Karol | 186 comments 51. Making Rounds with Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordinary Cat by David Dosa, 5/5 stars, 240 pages. GREAT book. I learned so much about dementia and end-of-life issues and saw how impactful having something "normal" like a cat can be for patients, family, and nursing home staff. Surprisingly NOT a downer to read.

52. Rare Earth by Davis Bunn, 4/5 stars, 368 pages. Same plot formula as Lion of Babylon. Still good, but basically same story different place.

15,691 pages read this year

Thanks, Andrea. I'm starting to get my feet back under me . . . the worst is over, I'm thinking. Maybe this will have been my life's "perfect storm".

Dawn Michelle | 3472 comments Kay,
The earlier Hamish books are delightful. And full of fun. And several of the later ones are also very well done. I can't recall Death of a Dreamer offhand, but I do know that they got rather dark towards the end. She is still writing them and I may read the next one, but if it is anything like what the very last one was like, I will be finished with Hamish. Which is a shame, because I loved this series so much.
So neat to see that you have read a bunch that are on my TBR list from my Kindle. Next year my goal is to read almost exclusively from there and so I know that I will get some of them read.

I have no idea what is going on in your life, but I too am here if you ever need a friend. I think of you often [we miss you in our little group of women that you started] and hope that whatever trials you have had as of late, that they are all over and that you have a wonderful holiday season and a blessed new years!!!

62. The Case of the Stuttering Bishop by Erle Stanley Gardner, 3/5 stars, 227 pages

(18,283 pages read in 2012)

It was a slower reading year for me - but still, 62 books ain't all that bad!

On to a better 2013, I'm hoping, in all aspects of my life!
