Lauren Smith Use this thread to let everyone about titles that will be released in 2012.

Lauren Smith I just found out that China Mieville will be releasing another YA novel:
Railsea by China Miéville

It sounds weird, even for Mieville. It's based on Moby Dick, but instead of travelling on the ocean the characters travel across the land by rail. And they're not hunting a giant white whale they're hunting a giant white mole.

But hey, I'll read anything by Mieville. It's due out in May.

Lauren Smith No cover or profile page yet, by S.L. Grey will be releasing The Ward in December.

It's a sequel to The Mall, not following the same characters, but with a similar satirical theme, set in a big, creepy building. The Ward will be set in a South African hospital. Sarah Lotz read an excerpt at the Bloody Parchment horror event in October. I remember the last line (a nurse speaking to the main character, who wakes up in a strange hospital):
"You should feed your face. It must be hungry."

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I was thinking about getting Railsea - it sounds weirdly interesting.

Timeless (The Parasol Protectorate, #5) by Gail Carriger
The last Parasol Protectorate book by Gail Carriger is coming out in March! What will our dear Alexia get up to next? Ooh, I can't wait to get my hands on this one. :)

message 5: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Ugh, those covers just get worse and worse. Still want to check out the series though.

Chrizette | 906 comments Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7) by Shelly Laurenston

I know this is not a book that will be popular in our group but I am TERRIBLY excited about the new book in the Pride series by Shelly Laurenston coming out in March. It is number one on my MUST BUY list :) I just love Shelly - her books are sexy and funny. A wonderful combination.

I'm working on something similar on my blog, featuring some upcomming books and stuff for 2012...

Claudia, I want to read that one too! (Agree with Lauren on the cover haha)

Also looking forward to the next installment of Bloodlines and Blackout (Newsflesh Trilogy, #3) by Mira Grant . Love the series...

Yea I can't wait for The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay!!!!
I loved Bloodlines!!!!!!!!
I see there are a couple of new books coming out this year (Like in the follow ups of a series etc.)

message 11: by Marissa (new)

Marissa (leser81) Here are two articles about book releases this year. The Guardian's article includes other book-related events as well, like film adaptations.

message 14: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments The Host was one of those books that I didntexpect to like but did. After the total mess of Breaking Dawn I was glad that Meyer redeemed herself with this book. Look forward to the sequel.

message 15: by Chrizette (last edited Jan 17, 2012 09:57AM) (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments I agree Emma - THE HOST was one of my top reads :) But I did love Breaking Dawn too -lolol

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been hearing great things about The Host, but I just haven't gotten to it yet (and of course the cover of that book just makes me want to buy it whenever I see it)... I'm also scared I wont like it.

I did enjoy reading the Twilight series, although it was not the best books I've ever read, and the last one was just an epic fail :)

Chrizette, nothing wrong if you loved it, I love books that many people hate... it's how you feel about them that counts :)

message 17: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Niecole I think you should read it :)

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok ok, you've convinced me :)

message 19: by Henri (new)

Henri | 122 comments I can't say that I loved The Host, but it was an enjoyable read.

message 20: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments LoL - I have made peace with the fact that I love the Twilight series and most people don't - lol

I agree Niecole - I read only for my own enjoyment, so I am not too bothered that I am not reading the most popular books (or the most intellectual). Can't wait to see what you think of THE HOST :)

message 21: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Well I whink that you should judge a book by it's genre and intended public. Which means that a romantic vampire novel for YA doesn't need to meet the same standards as something written by Hemingway or Shakespeare for example. Depending on my mood I love to read the classics or a cheap romance novel and everything in between. Having said that I do love books/series that are consistent and I had the feeling that in part 4 of the Twilight series Meyer broke some of the rules she had created for her universe. And that means that I loved the twilight series but part 4 was a let down.
I did enjoy the host and I am looking forward for part two. Does anyone know anything about part three? I know there are rumours that both books will be released this year but I can't find any confirmation.

Hex Hall #3 is out today! And I forgot to pre-order it. Someone kick me in the head. :(

Did any of you read the first two books? I loved them.

I pre-ordered this book from BD (release date 31.03.2012) and just got an email that the publisher has made it available earlier and it is being mailed in the next few days! I am so excited. My first pre-order and I get lucky :)

message 25: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
I find that with pre-orders I ordered from Bookdepository 1 in 2 is dispatched before the release date. So besides them being cheaper when you pre-order them often you get to read them first. It is great!

The first one was interesting but I didn't like it enough to read more. Perhaps you two will like it though.

I have a review copy of Exogene, so I have to go that far at least. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of military sf, but I'm happy to give it a try anyway.

The follow-up to Deadlands, Death of a Saint (ISBN 9780143530077) will be published in April. It seems to already be available for order from Kalahari or Exclusives.

Claudia and I just got Divergent so I'm sure we will reading Insurgent when it comes out :)

message 42: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments This is a re-release, but just look at that cover!

It makes my inner gimme-new-shiny-book monster rear up in earnest. Owning several editions of the same book should be encouraged.

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Ooooh that is so nice!!

I think so too! That is why I have several HP editions as well as starting on Game of Thrones :P

message 44: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I would get this based on the tagline and cover alone:

“What if being a librarian was the most dangerous job in the world?
