Sheena | 174 comments I have challenged myself to 49 books this year. I wanted to more but didn't dare because life gets busy and didn't want to feel guilty if I didn't meet my goal. So I am hoping that I will exceed my goal!!

As of today (1/17/12) I have read 4 books and started my 5th.

The books so far are:
-The Help by Kathryn Stockett
-Face the Fire by Nora Roberts
-Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich
-Three to Get Deadly by Janet Evanovich

So I realized I could edit this post (still learning the SITE). So ill start adding my books here for the year..

Feb. 13. - book 10/49
Moonlight and Oranges by Elise Stephens
3/5 stars

It was a great book for valentines day. Great love story withthe couple and the trials a marriage goes through. My only complaint was that it was so slow at first then I couldn't put it down the lat couple of chapters. Good book overall.

message 3: by Tatum (new)

Tatum | 459 comments I picked up that series a while back at a church sale, so I hope you say yes Sheena!

message 4: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments It was okay, It was a real quick read with no real plot. I have to say I wouldn't recommend it.

message 5: by Tatum (new)

Tatum | 459 comments Ack! Oh well, they were cheap ;)

message 6: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments They will be a good book to fill in time between books that you are reading for book clubs!!!

message 7: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn (katesar) Wow, 5 books already? That's good work. You definitely must be ahead of your goal.

message 8: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments Thank you Katelyn, I was thinking that I should get ahead while winter is here because the summers are a little busy sometimes to get my reading in!!

message 9: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments Finished 6/49
Four to Score (Stephanie Plum, #4) by Janet Evanovich

Loved it!! They still make me laugh out loud!!

message 10: by Staisha (new)

Staisha (robertst) | 52 comments I can get the fifth one to you on saturday if you would like :)

message 11: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments 7/49.... I making great progress this month. I sure hope that I can continue this speed throughout the year and maybe pass my goal.

Book 7:
Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast

It was an okay book. I think that I am to old for the plot of the story. It is highschoolish. So it would be great for younger readers.

message 12: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments Yay book 8/49 completed!!!!!

High Five (Stephanie Plum, #5) by Janet Evanovich

I am so going to have to read book 6. I can't wait to see what happens!!

Sheena | 174 comments 9/49
The Mystic Wolves

I couldn't put it down...ok but it was the first book I read on my kindle (which is amazing).. At this rate I may be able to exceed my goal!!!

message 14: by Tatum (new)

Tatum | 459 comments Aha! Another e-reader addict in the making! I do read faster on my e-reader than paper books and I've heard quite a few others say the same.

message 15: by Johanna (new)

Johanna | 766 comments I keep hearing all these good things about e-readers...But I´m still fighting myself against it..

Ashley Tatum wrote: "Aha! Another e-reader addict in the making! I do read faster on my e-reader than paper books and I've heard quite a few others say the same."

It is so true! I can read a book in about a day on an e-reader if it is less than 350 pages. It takes me a couple to three days to complete a paper book with the same amount of pages.

Sheena | 174 comments Johanna wrote: "I keep hearing all these good things about e-readers...But I´m still fighting myself against it.."

I fought and fought myself. My husband laughed at me because I asked for a crockpot for Christmas instead of the Kindle. Then of course after I wanted one. I researched to no other. I should of just asked for it for Christmas. It is amazing and I don't leave the house without it!!!

message 18: by Johanna (new)

Johanna | 766 comments I never leave the house without a book :) I keep thinking would it save me money or make me just spend more money on books..I think that is the big question. I do buy a lot of books..

message 19: by Johanna (new)

Johanna | 766 comments When I do decide to get one..I have to decide between the different kinds..so if I do get one it´ll take a while! :)

message 20: by Johanna (new)

Johanna | 766 comments Well I´m pretty sure that our libraries aren´t very well stocked with e books, at least yet. There´s not many e readers to buy from stores even so. But I´m sure it´ll catch up in here as well at some point. I sometimes see someone with one in the bus.

message 21: by Tatum (new)

Tatum | 459 comments I think Kindles are very good for what they are, but do make sure that if you are not in USA that your library would support Kindle books. I know that here in Quebec (maybe in Canada) they do not, which is why a lot of us own Kobos which publishes in epub format.

message 22: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn (katesar) I found it confusing and aggravating that the overdrive library program doesn't offer MOBI format and/or kindles can't read EPUBS. I discovered that problem after getting a kindle and accessing my city's online library.

No Time To Run

I just have to say super proud of myself.. This is one of the only goals I'm ahead for 2012!!

message 24: by Tatum (new)

Tatum | 459 comments Yay! I'm glad Sheena, it's nice to feel accomplished in something :)

message 25: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments Finally finished 11/49 The Hunger Games

I didn't have a ton of time to read so it took longer than I wanted but wow it was a great book.

message 26: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments 12/49 Taken by the Cowboy

Rated 3/5

I felt like there should have been more excitement being a time travel. I wanted to know more of the ending. I might just being fussy but it felt very rushed..

message 27: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments Wow its been awhile!!

13/49 Ethereal

4/5 stars

I felt it was a great story and very well written.

message 28: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments 14/49
[book:Catching Fire|6148028
4/5 stars

I couldn't give this five stars because it was slower moving than the first. I loved how I was able to relate to Katniss with all of the emotion detail given. I also was surprised by the theme of the game in this book, defiantly didn't see that coming..

Sheena | 174 comments 15/49

Bound By Blood

3/5 stars

The overall read was good. Great plot with typical ending. I did rate the book lower because I felt the the "f " word was used when it didn't need it.

Sheena | 174 comments 16/49

Ordinary Angels

3/5 stars

The book was good but a little slower than I hoped for. Zoe is not normal, she can see spirits. She also develops her talent with help from an angel. Her life spirals out of control but gets it all squared..

5stars... loved it. Very intense..

Hot Six

3/5 stars.

I love that this series keeps me laughing but I had to rate it lower because it is becoming very repetitive. Series is best if broken up between other books. However, the endings make it so you have to keep reading.

Sheena | 174 comments 20/49. Tamara's Child 5 stars

Sheena | 174 comments Almost half way....

21/49
Blood Tide
4/5 stars

This was not what I expected. I was more than half way through before the word vampire was even mention. Of course you know it will be there by the review.. lol. Trixie lives with her grandparents. Her grandmother can sense weather changes, evil, etc. This sense helps Trixie and her new found friends defeat the evil within. Their tow.. I really enjoyed the book because it was not a normal paranormal book.

Carrots Love Tomatoes: Secrets of Companion Planting for Successful Gardening
5 stars.

My garden do so swell last year so I am determined to have one this year. So I came across this book while researching. Holy cow it is amazing. Who knew carrots loved onions. It is a full guide to everything a gardener will need from preparing your soil, to pest control, and high yields. Well worth the money to purchase this just to have on hand.

The Lucky One
4 stars.

This is the first book of his I have read. I really enjoyed it and I couldn't put it down. The story line was relatable to real life and had its twists. Would recommend.

Torment
4 stars

It was an average book. I feel for Luce being so young and having the huge responsibility of know/searching for her past life's. Along with the struggle of having to stay safe, adjusting to a new school, and always wondering if Daniel is her true love.

message 50: by Sheena (new)

Sheena | 174 comments 30/49. Yay me!!! Didn't think I would get this far..
Seven Up
5 stars

The humor is great in this book. I love Stephanie with her bounty hunting skills and confusing love life.
