message 11: by Jennifer (last edited Jan 28, 2012 08:04AM) (new)

Jennifer Fromke (jjfro) 11/22/63 by Stephen King ( the title is very hard to look up since it contains the forward slash). I'm no horror fan, but this is fantastic so far. His details are stunning.

Midu Hadi | 6726 comments Mod
I hate his horror books, even though I like the genre. What is the book about, Jennifer?

message 23: by Sheri (new)

Sheri It's really good, just long, and I haven't had much time to read this week :(

message 24: by Midu, loves Ratatouille (new)

Midu Hadi | 6726 comments Mod
hmmm does he have the stephen king disease then? :-p

message 25: by Sheri (new)

Sheri This one is a little different from his other books, I think. Lots of characters to keep track of and many POV changes...but it's been keeping my attention well enough.

11/22/63 by Stephen King is next on my list :)

I've become a little wary of books like A Woman Among Warlords The Extraordinary Story of an Afghan Who Dared to Raise Her Voice by Malalai Joya How is it, though?

Cobwebs-Iced-In-Space (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 18 comments I loved 77 Shadow Street by Dean Koontz , will reread sometime in the next lifetime when I can carve out more reading time :). Also read 11/22/63 in November when it came out. Very much enjoyed portions of it, just not the entire book, but every other reader I've seen mention it just loved it.

message 39: by Rex (new)

Rex | 2 comments Lustrum by Robert Harris Fascinating fictional look at the treacherous/murderous political machinations of ancient Rome (circa 60BC) in the time of orator and consul Cicero, penned by his secretary Tiro. Who as it happens really did give us the following abbreviations still in use today (NB, i.e. etc. and '&') which he developed as shorthand as a scribe to speed up taking dictation.
