I didn't get those either! Jeez, teach me to read right before bed anymore!

Chapters 7 - 14
5. Do you think Cinder is Princess Selene -- the dead missing Lunar heir?

I think it would make an interesting dynamic. But it would almost make it seem almost predictable at this point if she was.

6. I'm getting mixed signals from Dr. Erland and I don't know what to make of him. What do you think, is he a sweet grandfatherly scientist with a soft heart? Or a scientist willing to do anything to find a cure?

Based on the reactions to him from his colleagues I am going to say doctor willing to do anything for a cure. I am also suspicious that he's up to something, withholding information from Kai that way.

7. Why do you think Dr. Errand isn't telling Prince Kai about the real reason Cinder is in the lab?

It has to be one of two things. He is trying to protect the Prince from getting his hopes up since its such a new discovery, or he is up to something and trying to cover his tracks.

8. Dr. Errand did something that triggered a red flag for me. Is it possible that he himself could also be a cyborg or something else altogether?

I'm not entirely sure, its possible but I think it may just be a theory he has about cyborgs, something about the technology that holds the key to the plague.

9. The plague is very fast acting killing people in 5 days. Don't most vaccines take a long time to create? Do you think Peony will be spared?

10. First impressions of Queen Levena? Could we be mixing up fairy tales here? She reminded me of Snow White's step-mother.

11. Why couldn't Prince Kai gracefully declined Queen Levena's request to come, stating the kingdom needed time to grieve alone?

12. Were you surprised by Kai's invitation to Cinder to attend the Ball? Do you think he'd dislike her if he found out she was a cyborg?

13. The mirrors were an interesting twist. I hope someone smuggles in a compact with a mirror to the ball if Queen Levena attends.

14. So if Prince Kai's father died does he need to wait until his coronation to officially become King?

15. I'm thinking the chips which were removed are going to have a larger roll later on in the story. Anyone else think this as well?

16. Since this is a rendition of Cinderella it's probably safe to assume Cinder will go to the ball in disguise and perhaps use one of those ID chips. Any idea what will change her mind? Will it be what Dr. Erland revealed?

17. We now know Cinder is definitely Lunar. Looking more and more like Sashana called this one. I would be shocked if she doesn't end up being the missing heir, Princess Selene.

18. Could Cinder have hidden powers (aka gifts) that her systems are overriding in order to keep her hidden or do you think she truly is a shell?

5. Do you think Cinder is Princess Selene -- the dead missing Lunar heir?

Yes.

6. I'm getting mixed signals from Dr. Erland and I don't know what to make of him. What do you think, is he a sweet grandfatherly scientist with a soft heart? Or a scientist willing to do anything to find a cure?

I don't like him. He had no qualms killing her before he found out she was immune and had no problem with the fact she didn't truly volunteer.

7. Why do you think Dr. Errand isn't telling Prince Kai about the real reason Cinder is in the lab?

Could he be a spy who is supposed to make sure no cure is ever found? What if he infected the King?

8. Dr. Errand did something that triggered a red flag for me. Is it possible that he himself could also be a cyborg or something else altogether?

Could be.

9. The plague is very fast acting killing people in 5 days. Don't most vaccines take a long time to create? Do you think Peony will be spared?
Yes, they do take a while to create, which makes me fearful for Peony.

10. First impressions of Queen Levena? Could we be mixing up fairy tales here? She reminded me of Snow White's step-mother.
LOL! Good point.

11. Why couldn't Prince Kai gracefully declined Queen Levena's request to come, stating the kingdom needed time to grieve alone?
Beats me. In my opinion, that wouldn’t be asking too much.

12. Were you surprised by Kai's invitation to Cinder to attend the Ball? Do you think he'd dislike her if he found out she was a cyborg?
I wasn’t surprised…I felt it was leading up to that (plus, the storyline is a HUGE clue). I think he will probably balk at first (and eventually get over) the fact that she is cyborg; however, the bigger hurtle is that she is Lunar, and all the dreaded mind-control manipulation that that could entail.

13. The mirrors were an interesting twist. I hope someone smuggles in a compact with a mirror to the ball if Queen Levena attends.
LOL! Great plan! Yes, I was curious as to why there weren’t any in the exam room.

14. So if Prince Kai's father died does he need to wait until his coronation to officially become King?
Hmmmmm I don’t know the answer to that one. Could be.

15. I'm thinking the chips which were removed are going to have a larger roll later on in the story. Anyone else think this as well?
Yes!!! I’ve been trying to figure out the significance, especially of their removal. I was thinking, at first, that that is how the plague was spreading, but have given up that idea. But they are important somehow!

16. Since this is a rendition of Cinderella it's probably safe to assume Cinder will go to the ball in disguise and perhaps use one of those ID chips. Any idea what will change her mind? Will it be what Dr. Erland revealed?
Oh! Now there’s an idea. Could be.

17. We now know Cinder is definitely Lunar. Looking more and more like Sashana called this one. I would be shocked if she doesn't end up being the missing heir, Princess Selene.
Yeah, I think that is a given.

18. Could Cinder have hidden powers (aka gifts) that her systems are overriding in order to keep her hidden or do you think she truly is a shell?
I hadn’t thought about her cybernetics overriding hidden powers, but it could very well be. Nevertheless, nope, I don’t think she is a shell.

message 62: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Do you think Dr. Errand could be Lunar? Maybe that's why there are no mirrors?(You got me thinking with your mirror question Lisa Kay) How would the Queen identify Cinder as Lunarian? Is it just from her chip or something else?

message 63: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Lisarenee, I think Dr. Erland could be Lunar and, yes, I think there must be something that the Queen can identify. Or maybe Cinder will be able to see through her "glamour" - which would identify her. Of course, that would make Cinder a shell... which I don't think she is. Hmmmmm...

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 21- 25

19. Why is Cinder NOT afraid of her own reflection?

20. What would have happened if Cinder had “plugged in to Nainsi? (The chip had already been removed by then.)

21. Are you positive about who put the direct communication chip into Nainsi? Will they be aware it has been removed? Will its possession be a danger to Cinder or a help?

22. Do you think that Logan Tanner, the Lunar doctor who worked under the reign of Queen Channary and brought Princess Selene to Earth, really committed “bioelectric-induced suicide? Who was the Earthen subject that received Linh Garan’s prototype?

23. So Prince Kai is looking for Princess Selene! Why?

24. Well, I’m trying to figure out the effect Queen Levana’s brainwashing/glamour, as seen on international netscreens, will have on the viewers. Does she think to control the world, though her glamour does NOT work via netscreens?

25. What is your take on Torin? Good guy, bad guy, or just someone going with the flow?

26. What a malicious witch Queen Levana is to have the antidote to the letumosis disease and withhold it. To taunt Prince Kai like that with “might-have-beens. Think it will work? Or is it a trick?

27. It is interesting: while Prince Kai keeps asking Cinder to the ball, I don’t get the feeling he is being pushy at all, do you? Shows how well set-up those characters are and how well written those scenes, right? Did you think he was going to kiss her in the elevator? Instead, he whispers a secret. Never have I been so satisfied with less. LOL! Comments.

28. Since this is a retelling of Cinderella, I was wondering who was going to be the Fairy Godmother. Who do you think has this role? Was it Cinder’s deceased guardian, Linh Garan, and his lock on her Lunar gift? Is it Dr. Erland? Or is it her Lunar gift itself?

29. What about why Cinder was affected temporarily by Queen Levana’s brainwashing/glamour? And Cinder’s fainting? Were they explained well enough by Dr. Erland’s removal of her lock?

30. So, some people’s suspicion that Dr. Erland is Lunar was correct! Though, his story was sad. Do you believe he hasn’t used his Lunar gift with the exception of Cinder while on Earth, or do you suspect him of duplicity? What was he about to reveal to Cinder before they were told of poor Peony?

31. What a place to stop! Will they be in time to save Peony? Will the smaller amount of antidote work?

Stefani (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments 9. The plague is very fast acting killing people in 5 days. Don't most vaccines take a long time to create? Do you think Peony will be spared?

I doubt that she will be spared, but I am becoming more doubtful that they are looking for a vaccine at all, something is strange with Dr Erland.

10. First impressions of Queen Levena? Could we be mixing up fairy tales here? She reminded me of Snow White's step-mother.

She does have that kind of attitude lol. I find her very sneaky. I doubt she is a woman who does anything without an ulterior motive behind it.

11. Why couldn't Prince Kai gracefully declined Queen Levena's request to come, stating the kingdom needed time to grieve alone?

Politics are tricky business, and if he is supposed to be advocating peace then he won't want to make a move that looks impolite, like refusing to see her. I am sure she realized that before she made the request.

12. Were you surprised by Kai's invitation to Cinder to attend the Ball? Do you think he'd dislike her if he found out she was a cyborg?

I was not surprised if we were going off of the fairy tale idea, Cinderella has to get to the ball somehow. But I am unsure if he'd change his mind because she's cyborg. The whole world of the book seems decidedly anti-cyborg so I think its possible that he would.

13. The mirrors were an interesting twist. I hope someone smuggles in a compact with a mirror to the ball if Queen Levena attends.

I don't think we've gotten the whole story on the mirrors. Just being vain and unable to alter your reflection seems like a thin excuse to me. There has to be more to it, or at least I am hoping there's more to it.

14. So if Prince Kai's father died does he need to wait until his coronation to officially become King?

I am pretty sure he's kind of de facto king, but has limited official status until the coronation. Maybe that's something Levana is planning on interrupting.

15. I'm thinking the chips which were removed are going to have a larger roll later on in the story. Anyone else think this as well?

They almost have to play a larger role, or there was little point in introducing it at all.

16. Since this is a rendition of Cinderella it's probably safe to assume Cinder will go to the ball in disguise and perhaps use one of those ID chips. Any idea what will change her mind? Will it be what Dr. Erland revealed?

I think she will change her mind based on something she learns later. She is going to have access to Kai's android, Dr Erland, his staff, and the prince himself at times...something will happen that will prompt her to go.

17. We now know Cinder is definitely Lunar. Looking more and more like Sashana called this one. I would be shocked if she doesn't end up being the missing heir, Princess Selene.

It does seem to be going that way, not sure what I think about it yet.

18. Could Cinder have hidden powers (aka gifts) that her systems are overriding in order to keep her hidden or do you think she truly is a shell?

I doubt she is truly a shell, just that her gifts might not be what the other Lunars considered valuable. Or they were somehow damaged when she became a cyborg.

Sashana @Lisa and LK

You guys make so many questions! I feel ashamed.

message 72: by Stefani (new)

Stefani (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments 19. Why is Cinder NOT afraid of her own reflection?

My guess is probably because she doesn't realize she has these powers, so she has always been looking at her true self.

20. What would have happened if Cinder had “plugged in to Nainsi? (The chip had already been removed by then.)

I think she probably could have learned exactly what the android knew...or perhaps who had put the chip there even if the android doesn't seem to know.

21. Are you positive about who put the direct communication chip into Nainsi? Will they be aware it has been removed? Will its possession be a danger to Cinder or a help?

I don't think they will be aware because they already have the information they want from the android so there was no further purpose to keeping the link open and potentially exposing themselves.

22. Do you think that Logan Tanner, the Lunar doctor who worked under the reign of Queen Channary and brought Princess Selene to Earth, really committed “bioelectric-induced suicide? Who was the Earthen subject that received Linh Garan’s prototype?

I suspect it might be Dr. Erland. Obviously whoever it was would have wanted to keep a close eye on Selene as she grew.

23. So Prince Kai is looking for Princess Selene! Why?

I think he is trying to find a way to circumvent Levana, yet still have peace with the Lunars. Selene seems the perfect way to do that.

24. Well, I’m trying to figure out the effect Queen Levana’s brainwashing/glamour, as seen on international netscreens, will have on the viewers. Does she think to control the world, though her glamour does NOT work via netscreens?

I think she just wanted to make a point. She knows that her glamour would not work over the netscreens...but they would still see what she was capable of doing.

25. What is your take on Torin? Good guy, bad guy, or just someone going with the flow?

Just going with the flow I think, but mostly a good guy...trying to do the right thing for his country.

26. What a malicious witch Queen Levana is to have the antidote to the letumosis disease and withhold it. To taunt Prince Kai like that with “might-have-beens. Think it will work? Or is it a trick?

I suspect it is genuine. If it is genuine she knows just how valuable that makes her to Kai, especially if they can't recreate it without her help.

LOL! Comments.

I didn't feel he was being pushy either which is strange because...he is! But I think as a reader you realize that he's in a desperate situation and he sees Cinder as his way out of what could be a very awkward dilemma.

At this point I am thinking its Dr Erland. I think he's been much more involved in Cinder's life than he has confessed so far.

29. What about why Cinder was affected temporarily by Queen Levana’s brainwashing/glamour? And Cinder’s fainting? Were they explained well enough by Dr. Erland’s removal of her lock?

I think it was explained. Normal Lunars are effected by the glamour, and Cinder is clearly not a shell so she would be affected as well.

I suspect he was going to tell her about her true heritage, but were interrupted....timely timely interruptions.

31. What a place to stop! Will they be in time to save Peony? Will the smaller amount of antidote work?

I hope so, but I doubt it will be fast enough. But perhaps it will improve her enough that they realize the antidote is the real deal, it just wasn't enough to cure her completely.

message 73: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I won't risk answering all of the questions since I already finished the book.
---------------------------------------------------------
19. Why is Cinder NOT afraid of her own reflection?
I think because she isn't using a glamour. Queen Levana's ambassador (?) doesn't seem to be afraid of mirrors because they didn't start removing mirrors until she (Levana) came to the palace even though two Lunar representatives were already there and functioning perfectly fine with the mirrors.

25. What is your take on Torin? Good guy, bad guy, or just someone going with the flow?
I finished the book and they did not go into any details about Torin so this is purely my theory here: I think he is a Lunar. He shows no reaction to Queen Levana and the other Lunars when everyone around them shows discomfort even though they try to be diplomatic. He is too calm and collected.

Great question! I don't think there is a fairy godmother in this one.

#10 Oh, she definitely has a hidden agenda!

#13 I don’t think we’ve “gotten the whole story on the mirrors either!

#14 Ah! Could be Queen Levana is planning some sort of coup b/f the coronation or has it as a back-up plan.

#20 That’s what I’m thinking. Well, about 63.72% thinking, the other 36.28% of me was worried something bad might happen if she “plugged-in.

#21 Hmmmm. I wonder. I worried they will somehow know there was an attempt to turn it back on.

#22 Wait. What? You suspect Dr. Erland was/is Logan Tanner (faked his sucide?), or that he is the Earthen that received the prototype? If the later, then he wouldn’t be Lunar. Hmmm interesting.

#24 Possibly. I wonder if she thought of all the ramifications, or if she just was vain enough to want to show off her powers.

#27 Great answer. I concur.

#29 Possibly. I keep going over it in my mind. There is something hinky in all of it.

message 77: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) @Sashana & Lisa Kay - Thanks. :)

Well it seems that I have finished the book. Ooops. I don't know how happened, just at once there were no more pages. LOL.
Here are the answers to the questions, I maybe skipped some because of the spoilers...

10. First impressions of Queen Levena? Could we be mixing up fairy tales here? She reminded me of Snow White's step-mother.

Yeah, Queen Levana reminded me more of Snow White's step-mother too. Maybe Marissa Meyer will use that similarity for some next part in the series. It seems that each book is based on some fairy-tale (Yay! I love fairy-tale retellings). Next part is red riding hood.

11. Why couldn't Prince Kai gracefully declined Queen Levena's request to come, stating the kingdom needed time to grieve alone?

I did not think of that, but good point. I think that he was surprised by all events and just was not composed enough to react.

12. Were you surprised by Kai's invitation to Cinder to attend the Ball? Do you think he'd dislike her if he found out she was a cyborg?

Yeah I surprised by the invitation. Did not expect that since it did not happen in fairy-tale.
And I didn't think he'd dislike her, more be disappointed by her not telling him sooner.

19. Why is Cinder NOT afraid of her own reflection?

Maybe because she is not using Lunar abilities to influence people and change her appearance (or at least how other people see her)?

22. Do you think that Logan Tanner, the Lunar doctor who worked under the reign of Queen Channary and brought Princess Selene to Earth, really committed “bioelectric-induced suicide? Who was the Earthen subject that received Linh Garan’s prototype?

I don't think it was a suicide, probably Queen Lavinia's assassins at work. I was puzzled about that Earthen subject too. Maybe it's prince Kai - since he can fight off Queen Lavinia influence pretty well?

25. What is your take on Torin? Good guy, bad guy, or just someone going with the flow?

Torin seems at time like a good guy and sometimes I had a feeling that he is just pretending and that he is secretly bad...

26. What a malicious witch Queen Levana is to have the antidote to the letumosis disease and withhold it. To taunt Prince Kai like that with “might-have-beens. Think it will work? Or is it a trick?

Yeah I was annoyed with her about that. Such an evil thing to do.

LOL! Comments.

Yeah Kai does not seem pushy to me also, just cute as you said. I agree that characters are well written. Book seem light, but I think it was an achievement taking a known fairy-tale and writing something new from it...
I was disappointed that there was not a kiss in elevator but also as you said somehow the secret seemed like more than a kiss so not so disappointed after all. If I make any sense. LOL

At this point I am thinking he is Logan Tanner. I don't understand why Tanner would go to all the trouble of bringing Selene to Earth, find a way to protect her, and then kill himself and abandon the girl he tried so hard to protect. That doesn't add up to me, he has to still be alive. And disguising himself as the doctor in the royal palace is a great place to keep an eye on things.

33.) What do you think the queen has all of those mutants for? Is it for war or something else?

I'm sure it is for war, but they could be used for something else too. It was a bold move on her part though.

34.) Poor Peony. The nice(r) ones always die. :(

35.)Would you have given the antidote to Chang? Or kept it?

I'm going to be selfish and say that I would have kept it. It's not like the antidote is being mass produced or anything. What if Kai contracts the disease? He would HAVE to marry Levana just to live. Now that would be an unfair negotiation!

36.) Queen Levana, what an evil woman, setting Kai up with the mirror! Why would she do something like that? What do you think that test proved?

I wasn't sure exactly what the test was supposed to prove. To me it showed that Kai cared for his country, even the servants. I just don't know what exactly Levana deemed from that. Perhaps that Kai is weak? Although I see that as being strong to confess to soemthing you didn't do!

37.)Adri makes me so mad! And poor Iko! What do you think Cinder is going to do now?

I'm not sure. If I were her and after everything I had learned and put up with I don't think I would have any fight left in me.

He is very funny, but not acting very diplomatic like he should be. I imagine he's nearly given poor Torin a stroke several times by now.

33.) What do you think the queen has all of those mutants for? Is it for war or something else?

I think that is just the beginning of her army. That was her show of power to persuade Kai to do as she asks. But there is no possible way that's the only trick she has up her sleeve for a war.

34.) Poor Peony. The nice(r) ones always die. :(

That was a very touching moment.

35.)Would you have given the antidote to Chang? Or kept it?

I think I would have given it to someone but maybe not a child. What if it was really poison? That would have riddled me with guilt forever.

36.) Queen Levana, what an evil woman, setting Kai up with the mirror! Why would she do something like that? What do you think that test proved?

I think to her it proved that he will do anything to protect his people, and to her that is a weakness because it means he can be manipulated into doing what she wants if the safety of his people was threatened.

37.)Adri makes me so mad! And poor Iko! What do you think Cinder is going to do now?

I won't answer this question because I've very nearly finished it lol. But I agree, poor Iko...she was the best character in the whole thing!

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Questions for Chapters 26-30

32.) "Now is that the one where the dominatrix queen throws a tantrum and threatens war every time she doesn't get her way?" Prince Kai's remarks always make me giggle. Why can't anyone else around him laugh at them? I know royalty is refined and such, but humor makes everything better.

Yeah, everyone are so stuffy at court. Poor prince is wasting his sense of humor on them. I think that's why Kai likes Cinder - she is so different than other people at court.

33.) What do you think the queen has all of those mutants for? Is it for war or something else?

Since queen so far always was one step ahead of them, I think that she will do something unpredictable with them...

34.) Poor Peony. The nice(r) ones always die. :(

Yeah, I hoped that she will miraculously recover. Especially after Cinder got a promise from Kai that he will dance with Peony at the ball...

35.)Would you have given the antidote to Chang? Or kept it?

I don't know if I would give it to Chang. Why did he deserve to live when there are so many sick people. I think I would have returned it to Dr. Elrand, maybe he would need more samples for research or something like it. Or I would keep it if Kai gets sick, to cure him....

36.) Queen Levana, what an evil woman, setting Kai up with the mirror! Why would she do something like that? What do you think that test proved?

I think Levana just likes to torture people. Test proved to me that Kai is noble and willing to sacrifice his life for others. I don't know what queen deducted from his actions, though...

32.) “Now is that the one where the dominatrix queen throws a tantrum and threatens war every time she doesn't get her way? Prince Kai's remarks always make me giggle. Why can't anyone else around him laugh at them? I know royalty is refined and such, but humor makes everything better.
Yeah, he has zinged in some good ones. You would think someone would accidently let a giggle slip.

33.) What do you think the queen has all of those mutants for? Is it for war or something else?
That is a very good question! A part of me wonders if they are even functional. Certainly, they are effective for intimidation, but are they good fighting “machines or whatever they are? Everything about Queen Levana is so much about a false front, it makes me wonder.

34.) Poor Peony. The nice(r) ones always die. :(
True. Yeah. Plus, I didn’t want Cinder’s only family member who loved her to die.

35.) Would you have given the antidote to Chang? Or kept it?
That was a bit of a surprise to me, but I can see her reasons for doing so. She was acting on her emotions, not her brains.

36.) Queen Levana, what an evil woman, setting Kai up with the mirror! Why would she do something like that? What do you think that test proved?
She’s twisted! She wanted to find out his psychological makeup so she can break him use it against him.

37.) Adri makes me so mad! And poor Iko! What do you think Cinder is going to do now?
Yeah, Adri pushes my button too Big Time! Iko was another heartbreak, though I keep hoping she’ll eventually be happy with her new “body. I don’t know what Cinder will do. If I were her, I’d get in the “pumpkin and get the hell out of Dodge. Alas, she probably won’t. She’ll probably do something heroic.

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I haven't read all of today's reading because things keep getting in the way. Oh, life! I don't know who was doing questions and I without reading all of today's chapters, making questions would be pointless. I'm sure the questions I have so far would be answered on the next page or something. :p

But, I do have some predictions for the end of this novel...

1.) There is going to be a cliffhanger and probably not a small one. There are not enough pages for what needs to happen in this book for a small 'hanger.

2.) I'm agreeing with all of those on the whole Cinder is Princess Selene. I suspected it, but this tidbit of info would fit in real well with my big cliffhanger predictions. The question is will we know this information by the end of this book?

Some additional comments:

1.) If Queen Levana is so power hungry and wants to rule so bad why hasn't she just killed everyone off already? It would be easy.

2.) I'm not sure just how well Kai is going to be emperor. He seems too much of a softie. I know he is young and learning, but man. I see a lot of mess-ups for him in the future.

3.) On the whole emperor thing... if they knew Kai's father was going to die soon why didn't they start training Kai more? Taking it a step further, everyone knew Kai would be the next emperor from birth, why wasn't he trained from a very early age?

4.) New thought... where's Kai's mother? Did I miss this part?

37. So it doesn't look like there's going to be a fairy Godmother. Do you like the twist where Cinder is attempting to save Kai and all the Earthens?

38. So I don't know about you, but I wasn't feeling the love on Kai's part. Did you? He seemed confused and it seemed a little bit early to start declaring he loves her.

39. What did you think of Cinder's Ball attire?

40. What should Kai do about the Queen?

41. Who the heck is the girl who told Cinder about the Queen's evil plans? I'm thinking she'll play an important role in the future.

42. Cover comment-It seems misleading. It doesn't seem like the cyborg parts are covered. What's the deal with the normal looking leg with metal working underneath? Did I miss something?

43. I can't remember who first called it, but they were right about the orange car.

44. Any predictions about how this one will end?

I concur.

Hmmmm Keeping lips zipped, as I finished.

Some additional comments:

1.) If Queen Levana is so power hungry and wants to rule so bad why hasn't she just killed everyone off already? It would be easy.
Then she wouldn’t have anyone to rule.

2.) I'm not sure just how well Kai is going to be emperor. He seems too much of a softie. I know he is young and learning, but man. I see a lot of mess-ups for him in the future.

His contracting the virus was sudden; still, you have an excellent point.

4.) New thought... where's Kai's mother? Did I miss this part?
Another good point.

37. So it doesn't look like there's going to be a fairy Godmother. Do you like the twist where Cinder is attempting to save Kai and all the Earthens?
Oh! I disagree, Lisarenee; I think Dr. Erland acts in the Fairy Godmother role. Absolutely loved the twist!!

38. So I don't know about you, but I wasn't feeling the love on Kai's part. Did you? He seemed confused and it seemed a little bit early to start declaring he loves her.
Wow. We disagree again! ♥Prince Kai. I think he is confused.

39. What did you think of Cinder's Ball attire?
LOVED it! LOL! Good for her.

40. What should Kai do about the Queen?
Well, I hope he doesn’t marry her. I think he is doing it at least I hope so in that he’ll continue to look for Princess Selene.

41. Who the heck is the girl who told Cinder about the Queen's evil plans? I'm thinking she'll play an important role in the future.
I don’t know. Is she Scarlet?

42. Cover comment-It seems misleading. It doesn't seem like the cyborg parts are covered. What's the deal with the normal looking leg with metal working underneath? Did I miss something?
Yeah, I noticed that too. There are mentions of skin grafting but Cinder doesn’t have them since the initial ones when she was young.

43. I can't remember who first called it, but they were right about the orange car.
Not me. Someone beat me to it.

44. Any predictions about how this one will end?

Stefani (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments 37. So it doesn't look like there's going to be a fairy Godmother. Do you like the twist where Cinder is attempting to save Kai and all the Earthens?

I agree with Lisa Kay that Dr. Erland definitely is taking the role of Fairy Godmother in this book. As far as the role goes, the Fairy Godmother is supposed to help Cinderella not only get to the ball but to see herself for what she truly is...and so far Erland has done that well.

38. So I don't know about you, but I wasn't feeling the love on Kai's part. Did you? He seemed confused and it seemed a little bit early to start declaring he loves her.

I agree it was a little abrupt to be going, okay well we've flirted a few times so I love you! That was strange and didn't read very naturally. I adore Kai as a character but that whole exchange was weird.

39. What did you think of Cinder's Ball attire?

I loved it, I thought it was a very amusing scene and just overall adored that moment. And good for her for going despite knowing the consequences for her would probably be bad.

40. What should Kai do about the Queen?

Well obviously he can't marry her. I think its time for him to take a stand and tell her to either make good on her threats or leave him alone because he is not giving in to her. Time to act like an Emperor Kai!

41. Who the heck is the girl who told Cinder about the Queen's evil plans? I'm thinking she'll play an important role in the future.

Didn't she say that her guardian was someone close to the queen.....

42. Cover comment-It seems misleading. It doesn't seem like the cyborg parts are covered. What's the deal with the normal looking leg with metal working underneath? Did I miss something?

That is misleading but Dr. Erland did say that skin grafts can be done to cover the cyborg parts, but that Cinder had not had it done. Maybe the cover is supposed to indicate where this is going for the future books?

43. I can't remember who first called it, but they were right about the orange car.

Wtg on that one, I completely missed it.

44. Any predictions about how this one will end?

I will keep my lips sealed since I finished it the other day, so I know how it ends.

Sashana 38. So I don't know about you, but I wasn't feeling the love on Kai's part. Did you? He seemed confused and it seemed a little bit early to start declaring he loves her.
I don't remember him ever coming out and saying outright "I love you," (or did I miss something) so I don't think it's early on his part. Kai and Cinder have a great 'relationship' because they are more companions than anything else. I think Cinder is the first person in his life that he can talk freely and confide in. I think he is interested in her romantically but the romance isn't overpowering the storyline.

39. What did you think of Cinder's Ball attire?
Again, a nice twist. The original Cinderella was all decked out and pretty but Cinder wasn't. It was refreshing and funny. I didn't expect Cinder, a poor mechanic, to be dripping in diamonds.

41. Who the heck is the girl who told Cinder about the Queen's evil plans? I'm thinking she'll play an important role in the future.
Sorry to be blunt but I think she'll be dead by the next book. You don't mess with the Lunars and get away with it.

42. Cover comment-It seems misleading. It doesn't seem like the cyborg parts are covered. What's the deal with the normal looking leg with metal working underneath? Did I miss something?
It’s all about aesthetics. I’m sure a garish metal leg wouldn’t have been as visually pleasing as this cover. I liked the cover. Sometimes everything doesn't have to be so literal. And maybe the skin (and red shoes) is making reference to the original Cinderella.

43. I can't remember who first called it, but they were right about the orange car.
That would be Lisa Kay I thought it was LK

I think he is acting like a good emperor because he is weighing the pros and cons. He can’t be angry and threaten her because she is more powerful and everyone knows it. She can control his mind and she can control the minds of his followers (like she did to the people rioting outside of the Palace). The best he can do right now is figure out a plan of action which he is trying to do.

I seem to remember it was the Queen's right hand woman, I can't remember her name right now. Yes, actually I do remember it was her because she was on earth and installed the chip that her ward had benn forced to create for her.

I also just had another thought....maybe I was looking at the "fairy godmother" issue all wrong. What if the girl is the fairy godmother character? The fairy godmother got Cinderella to the ball, and so did this girl get Cinder to the ball.
