Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments I've already read it, more times than I care to remember, but happy to be on the list. Any questions or comments I might be able to help with, feel free to ask.

Darkpool | 1032 comments You must have just pipped me, Kathleen! Just as well Auckland library has 2 copies.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments A new review came in just this morning for Ripple. It's by Jay Howard in England. She put it on Amazon and Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. It made me cry to read it. Here's the link:

Congratulations,Tui! That's not just a review; that's treasure. JB :-)

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments Thanks JB. I've had to be patient and insisted on never soliciting reviews but it's been well worth the excruciating wait. They've come from all over the world on Amazon, where there are now 18 and my lowest rating is still 5-star. But its the thoughtfulness of some of those reviews that's blown me away. These have not just been tossed off lightly. How people take the time and goodwill to do this amazes me. I have been very fortunate.

message 8: by JB (new)

JB Rowley (jbrowley) Wow! I just had a look on your product page on Amazon. Not many books would attract such solid star ratings.

They say when you go 'free' is when the 'recalcitrant' reviews start to happen. Have you gone 'free' yet?

message 9: by Tui (last edited Mar 26, 2012 08:34PM) (new) - added it

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments I did go free for four days but nothing happened other than offloading nearly 1000 free copies. I think I got another good review or two out of the free days.

message 10: by JB (new)

JB Rowley (jbrowley) Well, you have proved the pundits who say bad reviews come after free days wrong. Good for you. Hopefully, those who downloaded the free copies are spreading the word - at least some of them - and generating sales.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments Hope so.

Angie (seren-lucy) | 1147 comments My copy arrived this morning! Have so many April books to read, I think it'll be a while until I get around to reading it :(

Darkpool | 1032 comments I'll be starting this tomorrow :-) (actually I had a little sneak peak at the first few pages this afternoon, and it made me smile already)

Darkpool | 1032 comments I've been visiting family for the past few days, so have not had much chance to report back on how much I'm enjoying Ripple. I love the personalities of the dolphins and other creatures. I'm a little over half way through.

Love the picture, Ella's Gran. Brings back memories of the magnificent hydrangea bushes in my grandma's garden. JB :-)

Jo Danilo (jodanilo) | 53 comments Just read the news in my author's newsletter. Congratulations, Tui, on Ripple being picked for Frankfurt - only 40 chosen out of 80 books. You must be buzzing!

Thanks JB. This bush has been growing in my garden since 1971 where it begun life as a cutting from my Grandmother's garden! It was originally just blue but it mutated to this colouring about 5 years ago.

Lesley | 1591 comments I begun reading Ripple quite late last night. At first I wondered if I would like this sort of read, but after a couple of pages I was in and loving it - sooo sad though (wee weep). Looking forward to picking up today (after all the chores are done, groan).

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments Yes, I've decided to go to Frankfurt with Ripple in October. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the book to be seen by the publishing world. The NZ Society of Authors (who selected the "Frankfurt Forty") also encouraged me to enter the book into this year's Ashton Wylie contest for Mind/Body?spirit literature. If Ripple won that contest, the prize is $10,000 which would make my trip to Frankfurt much easier. I haven't earned for three years while writing so I am borrowing the money for the fares at this stage and hoping to pay it back before I go by selling copies of the book through Amazon and at markets around the country.

Hope you keep enjoying it Ella's Gran!

Darkpool | 1032 comments Wow, how exciting, Tui! and congratulations.

I must have missed all this excitement and I did not know what the Frankfurt Forty was - but I just asked Professor Google and am now enlightened. All I can say is more power to ya, Tui. I hope you win the $10,000 - money is often a deep and devilish problem for us authors. I wish I wasn't broke so I could send you a donation. You might consider a strategy employed by one of my nieces who is always broke (but that's another story). She posts notices on her Facebook page as follows: Can someone send me a dollar? JB :-)

Kathleen,You've already put yours on Amazon so that is the most important place but if you would also put it on the UK Amazon kindle store, that would be fantastic. Your review was so wonderful. Or maybe even better still it could go on the Amazon page for the print version of the book which has not got one review yet, though it's the same story exactly.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments JB - thanks for those kind words. I'm going to get the money somehow - don't worry and I'll be there in Frankfurt with Ripple. I won't ask for donations though - I'm intending to get Ripple herself to pay for me. I have a good chunk of time in hand and a book to sell!

(I didn't think you'd ask for donations, really.)
