Robert Zwilling | 4 comments One thing that can happen is that when someone orders your book they might not get what they were expecting. On Amazon I ordered Phoenix Rising (Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, #1) by Pip Ballantine, Tee Morris (showed the picture on the cover) but instead got Phoenix Rising by Karen Hesse, a book about living in the shadow of 3 Mile Island. Not what I was expecting.

Laurel Lamperd Check out with any of the big book online sellers. There are heaps of books with the same name as another book. But I wouldn't like to title one of my books - Pride and Prejudice, Gone With the Wind, Rebecca to name a few. Cheers

Sandy (sandynathan) | 3 comments You can't copyright book titles. There are simply too many books to have particular authors "own" a title, so the copyright office doesn't copyright them. But, it's a very good idea to make sure the title you use isn't used by anybody still active in the the market, as Robert points out. People may have trouble finding your book. One thing to do is use a specific and very searchable subtitle. I did that with my latest book, which is so new that the cover doesn't show up on GR yet. I'll see if I can put a link to it on Amazon so you can see it. All the words in the subtitle will be picked up by search engines. The POD for Profit author Alan Shepard suggests that.

Lady Grace Hopefully that will go to Amazon. The subtitle is something like (and boy is this book new. I don't even know it) A Thrilling Adventure Wrapped in the Embrace of Epic Love. That should hook search engines all over.
