I have read Ender's Game and the subsequent books, but Dune far surpasses this series, in my opinion. It's one of the classics of Science Fiction and a great work in general.

The only thing I would caution is the subsequent Dune books. I personally like (most of) them, but they aren't as good as the first book. I know many people out there completely hate them, though.
