Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) This is for those of us who can't really do 100 books in 2009. How about we try for 50 books in 2009?

You can post what you are reading and how you plan to accomplish this goal.

Good Luck Everyone :~)

message 2: by Lisa Julianna (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:42AM) (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) I'll start with the next few books I plan on reading in the next few weeks.

Reading now What Mrs. McGillicuddy Saw.
Plan to start New Moon from Stephanie Meyers next week. :~)

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Lisa I bet Fiona will join you!!!! 50 books is only 4 books a month or basically 1 book a week. Sounds easy!

Petra in Queenstown (petra-x) Ok, well I'm well into my Flower Connection, so that is no. 1. I'm also reading a neurology book Why Michael Couldn't Hit by Dr. Klawans. I love Klawans' writing, I love neurology books but I loathe sports so I'll probably give it up. I have no further plans, just pick up books from the shop as they catch my eye.

message 5: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) Good for you Fiona...I can never make a list...or let me say that again..I can make a list but I never stick to it. LOL

I'll keep you all posted as I read them. :~)

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Fiona: You'll love a Room With a View!

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Lisa: I do better if I make a list especially if I put it in my planner it forces me to complete the task.

Petra in Queenstown (petra-x) So far:

1. Hard-Boiled Legs, the Breakfast Book - Michael Rosen (laugh-out-loud children's book. Especially recommended to those who were the older sisters of naughty younger kiddies).
2. Flower Confidential. Amazing book on the flower business - everything from designer flowers in labs, to growing them in Ecuador and selling them in Manhattan. Brilliant book.

I'm starting Alex & Me tonight. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30...

message 9: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) Wow Petra Good job!! I'm still working on my Agatha Christie book, which I love just haven't had a lot of time to read.

And Emilee that is a great idea I may have to try that and put it on my callendar. I would love to try not to buy anymore new books and get through a lot of my books on my shelves...I think I probably have 200+ books in my house. LOL

message 10: by Vicky (new)

Vicky | 62 comments I will try for 50. I know I can't make 100. I will just list them as I read them. (If I make a list, I will just lose it)

Petra in Queenstown (petra-x) 1. Hard-boiled Legs, the Breakfast Book
2. Flower Confidential
3. Alex & Me

and I'm reading Otherwise Normal People right now.

I won't keep this rate of reading up, it was just a three-day lull in work, normally I just read in bed at night and while I have lunch.

Petra in Queenstown (petra-x) 1. Hard-boiled Legs, the Breakfast Book
2. Flower Confidential
3. Alex & Me
4. Otherwise Normal People

I read the first chapter of Tom Parker Bowles The Year of Eating Dangerously. I gave it up. It was all about fishing for elvers on the Severn Bore and in 40 pages never came to a climax but introduced large numbers of people by name he met in the pub, on the river, around a campfire, in some other place or perhaps another one... and it just ended. No climax at all. Just ok, there you are. Yawn.

message 13: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) I am doing 60 + 5 classics (65) Starting in Nov. 2008 to Nov. 2009. So far I am on 12. I slacked a little bit in December but I am slowly making a comeback!

message 14: by Vicky (new)

Vicky | 62 comments I just finished my first book. If I don't get on the ball, I'll be doing good to finish 20.

Petra in Queenstown (petra-x) Donna - what classics are you reading, I would be interested to see your list.

Vicky, 20 is still good. Some books take much longer to read than others plus, of course, real life intervenes!

Richard - your typed punctuation is very eccentric! Do you have sticky keys or follow James Joyce, William Burroughs et al?

I'm reading a book about a teacher who goes mad (!) Its very boring.

Donna (dfiggz) I really haven't picked out any particular classics but I was hoping to at least read 1984 and maybe The Cider House Rules

Nothing too big!!!

Petra in Queenstown (petra-x) "Preciousness of a colon". What about the capriciousness of capital letters? lol.

I change my Barbie icons all the time. I have avatar adhd.

Petra in Queenstown (petra-x) Donna - I loved 1984 but hated the Cider House Rules! I will be interested to see what you think.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked Cider House Rules. Hated some to the characters. Haven't read 1984 yet but of course it's on my TBR list!

message 21: by Donna (new)

Do young children's books count? I read several of those a day sometimes but I don't usually write them down unless they are absolutely fantastically amazing and an adult could read and enjoy it? (If I wrote down the kiddies' books I would read a hundred in a month or so).

message 26: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) Petra I don't think children's books count. LOL

I finished New Moon I'm on to Eclipse. :~)
