Man Booker Prize Nominee (2005), Arthur C. Clarke Award Nominee (2006), ALA Alex Award (2006)

That looks very interesting.

The Bridge
This cartoonist/author wrote two incredible novels before he was tragically killed in a car accident. His friend Pat Conroy said at his funeral, "The first person to cry, when he heard about Doug's death, was God."

Oh dear, what was I thinking about!
I'd like to nominate The Ask by Sam Lipsyte

It's nominated in both polls, if I remember correctly, is that going to hurt the chances of it getting picked in either poll? I actually am wanting to read the book, so I was just curious how that would work out.

I'm the oddball I guess. I didn't like the book. :-)

I second this - hilarious book.

I must be equally odd because I didn't like it either!

Love this book! It would definitely be a good choice, shame that it was published before the turn of the century.

One of my favorite books ever! Not an easy read, especially at first but as smart an allegory with as good a sense of mood as a person could ever hope for.

How come?

Like the title says, nominations are now open for the July open group read. Nominations must be for fiction, first published/written in the year 2000 or later, and should be something you consider a work of literature.*snip*Scroll to the bottom, nominations are closed, voting is open, links below.
