Oh no it was the best thing I've seen all day well maybe second best because the Legend of Korra was on this morning but you still get what I mean.

although it might make it worse because he'll know that they both love each other. he'll know that it could have been possible at some point, but it isnt now because they cant be together with Jem engaged and in love with her! and the fact that they would be together if circumstances were different but now they cant might kill him even more. It will be like having something just out of your reach....

The fact that he's bruised/marked from it indicates how not using a shoulder rest probably hurts him or causes him some discomfort. I think Jem chooses not to use it because he wants to live like a normal person and not be someone that has things made easier for him just because of his weakened state and he would hate Tessa to pity him. It's clear that Jem is very strong willed, he doesn't like depending on things for instance he doesn't want Tessa's help in picking up the Yin Fen, he loathes his addiction and takes as little as possible of the drug prefering an uncomfortable longer life rather than a shorter pain free one.
He's not "showing off" because that would imply that he's vain, which Jem definitely is not. Rather, I think he's showing her that he is just like everyone else.

This teaser kind of confirms that Jem's death will not result in Tessa and Will getting together. I've read alot of people's comments wishing (rather cruelly) that Jem would die so Tessa can be with Will, hopefully now they can see that Jem's death will only drive them further apart.
Also, I feel quite uneasy about the part where Magnus says "all that is mortal passes away,� and Will replies with "I want more than that"..makes me think that maybe he wants to be more than a mortal...or maybe it just means that Will won't accept defeat so easily.

Your comment about Will wanting to be more than mortal makes me think he may be brother Z. I know there is a lot of speculation and guessing if Jem or Will is brother Z....
I think that maybe he doesn't use a shoulder rest to feel closer to the violin or maybe just the simple reason he doesn't need to

I reckon when Will says "If Jem dies I can't be with Tessa.." it implies that maybe if Jem lives Will can be!? I don't know :s but I love how we're analysing these teasers :D
