Hey all. The CHILDREN'S CLASSICS shelf is now up here: http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...

I have a couple of queries:
- Ian suggested Lloyd Alexander so I went with: The Chronicles of Prydain Boxed Set. Is this okay?
- Ian suggested anything by John Bellairs, so I added The House with a Clock in Its Walls. Is this okay?
- For Dare Wright I added one each of the Lonely Doll & Edith books. Are these okay?
- Jules Verne was discussed. I went with Around the World in Eighty Days and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Is this okay?
- I've left Coraline off because it's less than 20 years old (our usual threshold for classics). Is there somewhere else it should go?
I didn't get chance to check the dates on all of them, so please let me know if there are others that are a bit too recent.

I've added a few books from the Classics shelf but, since GR's shelving system is still very buggy, they're still showing on both shelves for the time being.

Anyways: Add your suggestions, comments, edits etc here!
And for the love of whatever is holy to you, PLEASE use the book title links! :)

Curious George and Beatrix Potter are already on the shelf, but we can add the other two.

How could I have forgotten my favoritest childhood book of all, The Gashlycrumb Tinies ?!

Susan (dabblewit) | 28 comments The Secret Garden - yes! One of my faves.
And here's some more... (with rather a British Anglo bias, to be expected from an Australian 60's childhood. No worries about the 20 year cut-off though!)
The Children of Green Knowe (all the Green Knowe series - my favourite as a child was: An Enemy at Green Knowe)
A Wrinkle in Time
The Muddle Headed Wombat
Friday's Tunnel
Swallows and Amazons
Five Children and It
Stig of the Dump
(edit: deleted books already on list)

Susan (dabblewit) | 28 comments And more...
The moomintroll series eg Finn Family Moomintroll which are all good but the one I treasured as a child and still think is fabulous now is the cut-out picture book The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My for the illustrations/design.
Another vote for the following:
The Narnia books - I ignore any religious overtones (same with the Madeline l'Engle books)
A.A. Milne Pooh Bear books
(edit: deleted books already on list)

Susan (dabblewit) | 28 comments I see some of my suggestions are already on the list (sorry)
I also liked the Alan Garner books eg The Weirdstone of Brisingamen
Don't know if they are classics though

Thanks Susan. You can go back and edit your old posts on here, so if you could delete the duplicates from the shelf, that would save me some time and effort. Thanks!
