Crystal (crystallanda) This is where we can discuss books that have to do with addiction. Or memoirs and biographies with addiction. Any books, recovery and all. Feel free to discuss or list your favourites.

Julie Jarvis Barker I joined this group in order to get a bbetter understanding of addiction, being caught up in addictions, and just the toll it takes in the mind and body. I grew up with seeing the affect of addiction which may be why I have ran away from any chance of an addiction getting its claws in me. However, I have 3 siblings that have struggled their whole life with different addictions. I know its a powerful thing and commend every single one of you for either starting or joining this group and sharing your stories.

That means a lot to hear. I created this group in hopes that people will come together to support each other through their struggles whether it be addiction or recovery or anything of the sort, even if it's to get more incite like yourself. I'm finally sober after 9 years. And its extremely liberating and terrifying at the same time. Thank you for joining. I only created it just recently so hopefully it grows with time.

April Forker | 1 comments Just a note - I'm a recovering alcoholic and have struggled in the past with eating disorders as well. THis is a wide variety of my favorite books related to these things!

Some of my favorite recovery books are:
Perfect Daughters - Robert Ackerman (for daughters of alcoholics)
Tweak - Nic Sheff
Language of Letting Go - Melody Beattie
The Interventionist - Joanie Gammill
Come Back - Claire & Mia Fontaine
Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia & Bulimia - Marya Hornbacher
A Piece of Cake - Cupcake Brown
And of course my fave, the AA Big Book :)

My favorite because I wrote it ... (I hope that is not too vain) I am a person of recovery myself and have been an addiction counselor, this is the book I wish they had given me when I figured out I had an addiction.

My memoir, CRYSTAL CLEAN, is a best seller on Amazon and is getting great reviews. I get letters from all over the world saying it's helped them understand addiction, and/or the addict in their life, better.
