I got them both for $4.98.
And I just bought Civ V.
On the bright side, I didn't buy any cigarettes this week so that I could buy more games. I really don't smoke that much these days anyway, but at least we know what my priorities are. Also: eating rice, tuna and ramen instead of buying my usual groceries. It won't kill me to eat cheap for a couple weeks, since I'll end up with enough games to last me a VERY long time.

That's dedication, right there.
I guess I'm on crack because I got them for the same price you did - $4.18. Probably was thinking of another I was looking at. I have Steam fever.
I know I haven't been around much, and that's not likely to change. I've got lots of things going on, and I really need to simplify my online life, so I'm removing myself as a group moderator. I'm one of those people who doesn't want a title they can't live up to, so even though this group requires almost no moderation, I can't keep the title of moderator any longer. It's been a fun run, though! :)
Okay, it just occurred to me that I'm being an asshole. And a selfish one at that. I thought I was doing the right thing but after exchanging emails with Nyssa, I've realized otherwise.
JUST TO BE CLEAR - NO, NYSSA DID NOT CALL ME AN ASSHOLE. That's not what I mean. :D I shall explain.
I'm actually leaving Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, and I wasn't going to tell most of you. I just didn't want it to come across as a flounce or something. I also didn't want to hear why I shouldn't, because my mind is made up. I first PM'd MrsJ just so someone would know I hadn't died or whatever. Then I figured there were a couple of others I should PM, but Nyssa beat me to it and PM'd me first.
In the course of the PM exchange, I started to realize that sneaking out in the middle of the night is wrong. You all deserve better than that from me. You're my friends.
This group is great, just as it has been from the start. But I really don't like Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ anymore, and to continue to use the site just doesn't feel right. It's not an overnight thing. For a long time, I just haven't enjoyed using this site much. Friday's announcement and actions regarding reviews and shelves just made me finally get off the fence.
I've already exported my data to a CSV file. Over the next few days or so I'm going to unload the books I haven't read yet from my shelves, then attempt to slowly import info from the rest into calibre - my ratings, etc. Once that is done, I will delete my account.
I wasn't lying about the time commitments and needing to simplify, I just left out the part about leaving GR. I've volunteered to help out with an open-source software project and that's going to keep me busy for a while.
The best part of this group is that most of us are on MR. I haven't been there much either but I'm not planning to leave there, and I do get PM notifications from MR if anyone ever wants to keep in touch.
I love you all, I really do.

As I stated in the PM, I understand why you chose to step down as moderator, I'm just sad to see you go. I'm sorry my inquiries made you feel like an ass (I wasn't thinking that at all). I am happy, however, that you've told the group.
I am curious as to the announcement(s), I obviously missed something - but then again I haven't really been here either...
Wishing you the very best going forward!! (((HUGS))) again. :)
No Nyssa! It wasn't you that made me feel like an ass, not like that, it was good that you made me think about how I was handling it. I was already being an ass. :D I'm glad, I think I would have later regretted not saying goodbye.
What they did was change the review and shelving policies, then immediately started deleting reviews and shelvings without notice or warning. They did a 180 on their policy that "people can shelve how they want to". Most people affected didn't know about the policy change until they got the notice that their stuff had already been deleted.

Yeah, I just found & read the thread. They certainly went bassackwards on this! While the policy change doesn't bother me, the immediate, irreversible and non forewarned deletions were a horrible idea on GRs part!! They seem to have chosen the worst way possible to implement this.
Plus, it would be great for authors to remember that they are only truly authors when they have readers.
@Nyssa - yeah, that's what finally knocked me off the fence. The policy itself I could have adjusted to, but how they handled it is just beyond acceptable. I don't write many text reviews here, and I am unlikely to be affected, but as someone who creates various types of content, their actions offend me.
@Loosheesh **big hug back* Thank you so much. It was great meeting you too, and I will miss you.

Today I've been trying out LibraryThing, which is partially owned by Amazon (but not fully like GR). It's more complicated and not as busy. The reviews I've read so far are serious (no GIFS!) and the atmosphere is more amiable.
I'm sorry to see you go, but I understand. Hugs and see you on MR.

GR has gotten rather negative lately and I have some personal stuff going on.
But - to be honest - the review policy is the real straw. I am also not likely to be effected (I don't feel the need to pollute my shelves with books I won't read) but I hate what they are doing.
The site seems like it is being refocused to the author (WHy, IDK) and I'm not here for that. I read what I want when I want and I review how I want.
I don't like the direction this site is going and I don't want to continue to give them free content. I have a sinking suspicion that the site will be a lot more like Amazon soon (requirements for reviews, no profanity, no negative reviews and a word count limit (or requirement)).
Right now I've already D/L my stuff into .csv and I've already purchased the pro version of Book Collectorz. I spent weeks pulling most of my reviews onto a personal blog - I just need to finish the job.
Im not gone as yet. I promise to let yall know once I've made a final decision.

You mean get the csv file? It's done from the site. Go to your shelves page, scroll down and underneath the list of bookshelves are other links. One is import/export. Click on that, and on the page that opens, near the upper right is an export link. It will then download the file of your exported books.
A csv is just a fancy text file (Comma Separated Values) that can be opened by a spreadsheet application, or imported into other sites or software.
Even for folks not going anywhere, doing an occasional export as a backup is a good idea.

@Leita and Bianca - thank you both. :) **hugs**

Thank You!

(Sorry Christa for hijacking your thread)

Please post here to keep us informed of groups over there. And you are entitled to feel however you want about the changes here.
@Shel - I deleted everything except my "read" books and made a new CSV for the LT import, so I can relate to wanting to organize first. :) I had stuff wishlisted that I don't even know why, so I probably won't miss them. But I still have the full CSV just in case I ever want to look.
@Bianca - I probably won't be active for a while but I'm interested.
@HIMS - Thanks. :) I got my first year free during the last upheaval, but you can pretty much pay what you want for a year. When my year is up, if I'm still feeling good about it, I'll probably pay for the lifetime.
My calibre import plan didn't go well because I didn't set it up properly. Fail on my part due to doing too many things at once. But I have the data saved, that's the main thing. I'm going to delete the rest of my books/reviews probably as soon as I post this, but I'm still waiting to get a couple PMs back from people so I won't delete my account until those are settled.

Sure you are! I have faith in you!

I knew it was bad when I found myself in tears, and finally I emailed MrsJ for advice. I came back about an hour after getting her reply. :)

Excellent, undead forumers and just in time for Hallowe'en.
We missed you around here.

Earlier I went into calibre and tagged all my Christmas-themed books to take on vacation with me. Mostly romance, of course, but there's even Dickens in there. Figured that goes along nicely with the "special" install of XBMC on my laptop that I put together for the occasion, complete with a Christmasy theme and a collection of Christmas movies and specials. I just have to convince the gals (my mom and her roommate) to watch them with me while I'm in Florida.
