Emily This ending made me cry,
it was happy yet stupid.
It dose not show Abbline like buying Edward Tulane!!!

Becky I thought it was such a good book
i agree they should have shown her buying him!

Gracellyn I don't know. I thought it was a great ending. I loved it. And I cried. Haha.

MizziQ I absulutely NEVER cry during books yet this book got me with tears in my eyes. :) I will treasure it forever.

Karenna i was tearing up when my teacher read it to me and when she was tearing up it made me!

Young My friend gave me this book and said 'disregard the fact that it is a children's book and just read it'. I loved it and have given copies to many friends. Read it often when I feel the need for a good cry.

you are crazy this book and ending is not "stupid" and they dont nrrd to show her buying it if you use your imagination.

Jamie I agree with Emily and Becky they should have had Abeline buying edward speaking of edward he needs to learn "better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all"

It was good because you know what's gonna happen at the end if you use your imagination. They could've had Abilene buying him but the ending was definitely NOT stupid.

Jacque I really didn't like this book because of the fact that Edward Tulane really didn't learn anything, or change/grow emotionally, at all. I found him to be egotistical and ill-tempered. At the end he really hadn't changed at all. He just figured out that he had to be nicer to people, but he didn't actually change. There were no tears in my eyes at the end of this book.

If you really want a heart-felt story try DiCamillo's Because of Winn Dixie. Or if you are looking for an unusual, magical story read her Magician's Elephant. Both are much better stories.

MizziQ How can a rabbit grow emotionally? I think that sentence is a quite messed up. I think what we were supposed to learn was the power of love and friendship...and imagination. Those girls loved Edward more than he, a rabbit, could know. A rabbit can 'grow' emotionally. But a rabbit sure can help us learn a thing or two about friendship. To me the rabbit wasn't even a big part of the story. It was how the girls treated the rabbit, and moarned for him. Without Edward this story would be nothing...but also it was the power of the friendships, not the rabbit, that was so heartfelt.

Ann It is one of my favorite books. I like to think that Abilene bought Edward for her daughter even though it does not say so specifically.

Rebecca My copy had a coda which sums up the story and ends with Edward being played with by the daughter. It is a softcover book.

Judy I loved this book. I can't figure out what else to say, but it was wonderful.

Tonya I wept like a baby! Totally unexpected! My son's reading it now.

kin-kin nguyen. Abilene needs to take care of her stuff more often.

Marissa BEST book ever. I have read this three times now. It just reminds me of when I was really little when my mom would read it to us on car trips. I have started reading it by myself and I was actually in favor of the ending. <3

Yes, my copy did too. I have never seen that before in a book, but I loved it.
