Sean Earley (seanearley) | 4 comments I have read opposing opinions about where to put the Start tag in your kindle book. Some say at the beginning of the book so previewers will see the TOC, and others say just start at the Inro so they can dig right into the book and get hooked.

Any thoughts? Opinions? Experience?

Eric (e_gerds) | 5 comments I would say a lot depends on the book. If it is a straight novel and the TOC says, chapter 1, chapter 2.... there is no real information there to help the reader.

However, if you are doing a "how to" book or something like that and the TOC shows what is in the book then the TOC is an important tool.

One suggestions that I have read is that with an e-book you can put the TOC physically at the end of your book where the index use to go. Because people use the "Go to Table of content" button it really doesn't matter that the TOC is at the end.
