Lining *fangirls* XDDD I love your works!

message 183: by Charles

Charles Plath Neil,

Loved The Eternals. Reminded me of American Gods with Marvel characters. Except those Marvel characters were in a really well-written story. :)

Charles

Andy Johnson Just finished Vol. 1 of The Sandman comic. That was killer! I am completely blown away by how amazing it was! Great job, Neil XD

message 180: by Paige (last edited Aug 04, 2009 06:52PM)

Paige Dude you don't even know about me and Coraline....Whenever my cousin was with me, she would try to tell me the story, but her mom would get mad because she thought it was too scary for me. Whenever she would start over, I swear, my aunt had ears like a rabbit and would stop her from telling me the rest. I knew I was destined to read the book, so one day in sixth grade, I picked it up, then remembering that this was the story my cousin always used to tell me about. I thought it was great. And I'm not just saying that. This book was hardcore horror. When I realized there was going to be a movie, I went ballistic. Sadly I did not see the movie though. I think that someone should look into making it a real horror movie with people, and actually see the darker side of the story, instead of making it a movie for a more younger age. But who am I to speak?...I didn't even see it.

message 179: by Dan

Dan Schwent Just wanted to say I'm enjoying the Metamorpho story you're doing with Mike Allred in Wednesday Comics immensely.

Jaimie I'm excited to see you're going to be at ComiCon this year. And you're bringing Henry Sellick! Yay!

message 175: by Armand

Armand Warchild Thanks for accepting me into your circle of friends here on goodreads. I've read several of your books and I've loved them all. Neverwhere is one of my all time favorite books, I've read it several times and am sure to read it again. I hope to see The Old Firm again sometime in the future, Croup and Vandemar were just superb in every way.

The last book of yours I read was American Gods. I'm pretty sure I didn't put it down except to eat and sleep until it was over, quite enjoyable, and I expect to read it again soon. Anansi Boys has been on my to-read list for awhile, but The Graveyard Book has popped up on my radar of must-reads and has me excited, so I think that first, then Anansi.

I recently (like 10minutes ago) found out that you are a Roger Zelazny fan! I've read the Amber books more times then I can recall. In the bookshelf of my mind they are up there on the untouchable, legendary shelf and I've infected my friends with them as well. To date though, I've only come across two people who have heard of or read Zelazny's work - prior to my insistence that they do so in all haste. - (I have extra copies explicitly for this task.) I'm glad to know it's possible to bump into another Zelazny fan here and there. Though, I shouldn't be surprised, Neverwhere is up on the same shelf and has also had copies thrust into the hands of friends with demands to be read, and along with the amber books, was well received.

Anyway this is getting long, if you're still with me here, let me just say thanks for sharing your worlds with us. Authors like you, your worlds, and your tales that take place within them are what keep me sane...Ok as sane as a person can be. You add enchantment to a world desperately in need of it. Thanks!

message 174: by Lisi

Lisi Thanks for adding me. I am reading my first book from you (M is for Magic) and I love it so far. My twin sister is a big fan of you, so I am lucky that there already more books from you in our household. Going to read "Stardust" next. Thanks for writing such great stories. ;)

message 173: by Simon

Simon I just read the Graveyard Book this evening. Holy crap was it good. I wish I saw the world through your eyes; as that is impossible I thank you for bringing your vision to us.

message 172: by Ceci

Ceci I am so very sorry for your great loss, Neil.

On a brighter note, I saw the Coraline movie, in 3-D, and loved it almost as much as your wonderful novel. What a magical movie based on an even better book.

message 171: by K

K Coraline is one of my favorite books EVER!!!!

message 170: by K

K Mr.Gaiman, Coraline is probably my favorite non-series book EVER!!!!!!!! It is the only book I've ever read that is creepy in a good way.

message 169: by K

K Derek, Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ isn't for advertising. Just saying. Unless you're you worked with him to make it or something, please don't for the rest of us.

Mike The Pirate I just started Marvel 1602 and it is wonderful! I cannot believe I only just found this since I love the Marvel universe and your writing. So far it is a match made for nerd heaven.

message 166: by Ginger

Ginger Thank you for being my goodreads friend! I work in a library and it's nice to be surrounded by book readers, writers and lovers. Viva la book!

message 165: by Lincoln

Lincoln HANDLE TiME by LINCOLN PARK Hi Neil!

I don't get to Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ nearly as often as I'd like because I'm writing my 4th book. In comparison, I just don't see how you have managed to pen so many fantastic stories! I would need a caseload of sangria and at least three more pair of progressively-stronger eyeglasses to do even a fraction of the same! LOLOL Anyway, I wanted to make sure and stop by and let you know that I am thrilled to be your friend here! Are you on twitter? My twitter name is: linc0lnpark

Have a fantastic day!

-L-

message 164: by J (last edited Apr 12, 2009 02:10PM)

J thanks for the friend add, Neil! i just read the other comments below and am sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. my deepest condolences to you and your family.

i love your books, especially stardust, the dream hunters, american gods and good omens (with terry pratchett). i'm halfway through the sandman series, taking my time savouring each volume. it'd be awesome if you wrote a sequel to stardust!

message 163: by Anoush

Anoush Took me only 1,5 days to read the Graveyard Book (finishing at 4:30 in the morning), and in all that time I was thinking: "Neil Gaiman should have written this book years ago, when I was a kid, because I would have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this when I was a child".
The fact that I loved it as much now, being an adult, truly shows what a kid-at-heart I truly am. And I like this fact being reinforced.

Thank you.
P.S. Silas was the best.

message 162: by Stephen

Stephen Kudos on the Newberry Award! I have yet to buy The Graveyard Book though, but I'm sure you deserved the award well enough. I'll prolly buy it tomorrow.

I'm a really huge fan of Stardust, by the way. And the movie...what can I say? It's my all-time favorite.

message 161: by Rachel

Rachel I can't imagine what you must be going through. My friend's dad passed away recently too. If there's anything we can do...

 Crystal My condolences.

message 158: by Janepage

Janepage I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, I recently lost my grandmother, so I guess we're kind of in the same boat huh? I'll be sure to keep you and your entire family in my prayers!

message 157: by arianna (last edited Mar 13, 2009 12:05AM)

arianna I'm sorry to hear about your loss, i wish i could do something to support you...

i guess i'll just have to go buy Angels and Visitations instead of getting it from the library. I'll also force everyone i know to read at least one story in smoke and mirrors and pray for you and your family...

sorry if that sounded creepy.

message 156: by Nate

Nate Coraline is a great book!

message 155: by Jessa

Jessa Moore My husband got me into the Sandman series, and it just blows me away with every story. I LOVE this series. I love the characters you give us, the story lines are scary yet wonderful. I'm excited to go home from work every day just so I can read more of them. :) Now I'm off to see what happens next to Princess Barbara....Much Love to ya.

chasinglux You are my favorite writer of all time. Sandman changed my life; Fragile things re-defined me.

Any advice for an aspiring writer?

message 153: by Emily

Emily Neil, I just finished The Graveyard Book seconds ago and am still drying my tears. The book is a treasure and I will cherish it always. Much Love

message 152: by Adam

Adam Thanks for adding me! I have loved everything that I've read of yours and I can't wait to read more. I really liked the first part of What Ever Happened to the Caped Crusader? and I can't wait for the next part.

message 151: by Kendra

Kendra Thanks for the add! I have been a fan of yours for YEARS, and am always keeping track of, and looking forward to your new books. I loved The Graveyard Book. The ending was very touching...

message 150: by Marisa

Marisa Just wanted to stop by and say hello!

Harpal Khalsa Did I mention I saw Coraline and thought it was brilliant? Nearly as brilliant as the book, actually. I do have to say I really enjoyed the changes. I always find that movies that strive too hard to be exactly like the book tend to suck lots. But I thought the movie struck the perfect balance there, keeping the most important things and the whole tone, but making it much more visual and just making sure it was a great movie as well as being a good adaptation. Anyway, congrats on that, and of course to Coraline being pretty much the creepiest kids book ever (And one of the more awesome in general).

message 148: by Tina

Tina Hello, which of your books did you feel you wrote the best based on your perspective and not the fan's perspective? i am lookign for new books to read so i need choices. Thanks.

message 147: by Priya

Priya Thank you for adding me as a friend!

Ravenskya Thanks for the add, now I intend to pester you! You really need to get on those guys to make Good Omens into a movie! Tell them that there is a rabid fan base ready to eat them alive if they make us wait much longer!

Oh, and I have now seen Stardust about 10 thousand times, my 7 year old loves it.

message 145: by Eli

Eli Schuster Yikes, Neil! Coraline was creepilicious!

message 144: by Nicole

Nicole Congrats on the Newbery Medal! The acceptance speech ceremony at the American Library Association Conference is a big deal. Last year's speeches were amazing! Have fun crafting your speech for that, I'm sure it will be wonderful!

message 143: by D.A.

D.A. Schneider Thanks for adding me. The first chapters of Avenging Autumn and The Wintermen are on my profile now.

message 142: by Red (last edited Feb 25, 2009 03:41AM)

Red Had an opportunity to see Coraline in 3D this past weekend and enjoyed it nearly (but not quite) as much as the book. Kudos for the Newbery. The Graveyard Book is truly deserving of the honor.

message 141: by Sarah

Sarah Thank you very much for adding me. I am a very "new" reader of yours but nonetheless fascinated by your work. Too bad that Coraline won't be in theatres where I live at the moment.. I would have loved to see it on the big screen.
All the best for the future!

message 140: by Janepage

Janepage Wow I've been in love with Coraline since a picked it up about a month ago! I can't wait to go to the book store to pick up some of you're other books!

message 138: by Jaimie (last edited Feb 07, 2009 05:21PM)

Jaimie I saw Coraline in 3D last night. Loved it! The first movie in a long time that has brought me such joy! Henry Sellick was the perfect person to make this movie.

Congrats on the Newbery!!!!

message 136: by Belinda

Belinda We're on our way right now, and traveling to an IMAX theater on the far side of a neighboring county to get the 3-D experience. I am really enjoying hearing my 6yo daughter's reactions to the various incarnations of what has become her favorite story. The novel, the graphic novel, and now the film...thanks for providing us all such great fun!

message 135: by Neil (last edited Feb 25, 2009 03:41AM)

Neil Copies of The Graveyard Book should be back in stores around now, with Newbery Medal stickers on them.

And CORALINE the movie is out in the US this week. If you're putting it off, I should remind you that we only have the 3D screens for another couple of weeks, and then The Jonas Brothers 3D movie will come in and take them over.

Also --perhaps most importantly -- you can read Coraline the book online, at
