This is the first book in a new serie. I find it often hard to like books that have protection for "famous" people like popstars, actors etc in it because they are often written as not very likable persons. So at first I was a bit hesitant. However.. the book is well written, has a good storyline and good people in it. There is always something different about a story where an attacked woman is one of the main characters. That type of vulnerability, to get back up again. To get back to being yourself. This is the 4th book for the new serie from Oak Creek. It is another good one to read.

Callum moves to Oak Creek for a calmer life. After being approched for a rescue mission (and eventually agrees) we end up in a story packed with action and caring. It is not your happy ending where the guy rescues the girl and they never leave. They need to overcome their own challenges to finally be together. I gave it 4 stars because of the serie it is in. But I'm not sure about some of the things happening. I understand stuff has to happen for a storyline, but I'm also a supporter of love without wrong communication. But enough complaining. I am so glad to see that this is the start of a "special" serie. One that shows that not al lead characters have to be perfect, healthy people. Everyone can contribute to the world in their own way. I am happy to read about things I can relate to.

I am always a little leery of stories that include de mob, I don't know why because the stories are often very good. Maybe it is the betrayal, violence and cruelty associated with it. This however, does have a certain something that keeps you reading. You want to know more about Dante and Victoria. How will he keep her safe without being someone he doesn't want to be. Will they survive with eachother or apart? Remember, this is just part 1. I love it that we now see the children from the people in the original serie. It somehow feels familiar to dive into these books. The theme in this book was a very good one. They had to overcome struggles to be together, but with something important to work to, it makes it worth it.
I'm already looking forward to the next book. ]]>
