The End of the World Is Just the Beginning by Peter Zeihan

M.L.’s first review of the year

it was amazing
A clear gathering of a vast panoply of diverse geopolitical information to create a fascinating view of global trends by country, industry, and population. Utterly fascinating, chilling, but fascinating.

A City on Mars by Kelly Weinersmith

M.L.’s last review of the year

it was amazing
A must-read for deep-space-settlement geeks. The master of the wonderful webcomic SMBC (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal) and his biologist lady fair delve into the depths of what it would really take to get from where we are to deep space living. Not there yet, but the obstacles were rarely what I thought they were, and that too was fascinating.
