i had never thought of food in terms of the food chain, even though it seems so obvious! i’m definitely inspired to honour the food i eat, acknowledge the production and the cost, practice the art of cooking�. really great read and insights into the beauty but also the complexity of nature and human relationships. thanks, michael pollan! the meals you described in such detailed prose made my mouth water for flavours, textures and colours. nature

i’m really impressed with the distinction the book makes with the voice of a/b (anorexia/bulimia) and the person enchanted by it. all the interviews between the therapists and patients, first hand accounts, and insights have given me a better way to express my outrage at anorexia and solidarity with whoever is suffering from its abuse. i have been told by a friend that it’s an invisible disorder, often invalidated and not understood by those who
