Kathryn Tempest does an excellent job at exploring the history and the legend of Marcus Junius Brutus, the chief conspirator against Julius Caesar. I approached this book with trepidation, given the delicate subject matter. But I was quickly taken by Mounk’s solid research and cogent reasoning. He traces the cultural history of what we today call identity politics, clearly demonstrating that it has nothing to do with Marxism (as some of its critics maintain) and everything to do with postmodernism.
