Absolutely PHENOMENAL - especially if listening on Audible. Steven Weber is the BEST narrator I've come across on any site. He made you feel like you were actually there.

PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING - ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OF INFIDELITY AND HAVEN'T HEALED FROM IT. the entire book is a trigger warning, in my honest opinion as someone who's unfortunately been put through hell because of another person's selfish choices.

Honestly, I couldn't give this book less than 5 stars simply because of how it made me FEEL the entire time reading it.... As someone who has been absolutely DESTROYED from a year long affair by the one person who swore on his life he would never hurt me in that way.... I get it. I don't know about plot holes or anything of the matter because it became so personal to me (and does anything about infidelity or cheating really make sense anyways!?), even after having "moved on" from the affair that didn't technically cause any death in the true sense of the word... but hypothetically I did die the day I found out about the affair, and if I'm being honest -- I still haven't fully healed from it. People will judge how she wrote the characters, or how the story was told, but as sickening as it is -- these stories aren't just fiction in a multitude of people's lives... People really do hurt others in this way and they make the same stupid, selfish choices without thinking about how it would DESTROY the ones who have loved them and stood by them when they least deserved it, and just like Adams excuse of "being bored" I was also given lame ass excuses as to why the cheating happened, and a lot of blame was put on me when I know (only just recently had a huge eye opening kick in the ass where I realized that I didn't do anything other than love a man who cared more about himself than our family. His "needs" were more important than everyone else's).... But I don't want to get too off topic, but as you see, even almost 5 years after learning the truth: it still hurts, I'm still not the same woman I was before and I am still fighting like hell to get back to that person. Cheating destroys lives. There is NEVER any good excuse for it. LEAVE. If you have gotten to the point where you think cheating will fix all your problems and make you feel better, you're wrong. You're either unhappy in your relationship and that slowly drains you or you leave and have to go through difficult times that can also slowly drain you, but at least leaving will allow you to move forward knowing you didn't destroy someone who you once loved, no matter what the relationship is at the time of leaving, and you have HOPE of finding a new way to live and love.

Obviously, this entire book was a massive trigger to me, and as much as I couldn't believe some of the things said and done throughout the story... The reality is that it DOES happen. People are really this selfish, entitled, disgusting, hurtful, emotionally and mentally unstable, and do idiotic things we will never understand. I think that's a good thing, not understanding, because who wants to be the kind of person willing to destroy another human who's probably not perfect, but who loved you even when they didn't deserve that love. I too, was once Sarah, and I'm not proud of the choices I made back then, but I am proud of the progress and healing I've made. No one can judge what she did unless they have been in her shoes.

The twist at the end? I truly didn't expect it, or should I say - I never guessed who it was, even though looking back, the signs are everywhere. That's what makes a good story for me... I read so many thrillers and horror books that a lot of the times, I know right away who and what happened... But the stories that make me question anything and everything, suspecting everyone who was involved - those are the stories that consume me and don't let go until the end... I read this book in almost a day, something I haven't done in a long time. It made me angry, it made me cry, it made me scream out loud at some parts, and in some weird way, it was healing. But again, I will warn anyone who has been a victim of an affair - please, please think about your mental health before trying to read this book... It is VERY triggering, and even as someone who has, for the most part, moved on from my experience, there were a lot of times I had to put the book down, breath and take a minute, and start again. A good story is not worth your mental health so please tread with caution and if you think it will do more damage than good - don't read it. I understand why readers will have issues with the story, I did too, but the fact that I haven't had a book make me feel so many emotions in a long time is what makes me give this story 5 stars. There are some instances that just aren't realistic, like allowing the defendents attorney to view and asses the crime scene basically the day after it happened, but you have to remember that it IS a book of fiction for the most part. All in all, if you haven't been tainted by the affects of an affair or if you have healed from being a victim of one, I would absolutely say read the book but keep an open mind. It's just a story, even though millions of people have endured the same hurt from someone they love... It's a fast paced story that kept me guessing until the very end and I will absolutely read another book from this author.

To end this novel of a review (I never write reviews this long, it just became personal, as I'm sure you can tell lol) I will say, if you have been a victim of an affair, I hope you have healed and realized that you didn't deserve that pain... You may not be perfect, none of us are, but if you have stood by and loved your significant other, even when they didn't deserve it... And they have hurt you in this way... I just hope that you don't allow it to break you to the point of no return and I hope you see that you deserve so much more in this one life we are blessed with. Find someone worth your love... More times than not, a person who's willing to hurt and destroy someone like this, will do it again and again, unless you show them you won't stand for it and walk away. Sometimes people do manage to learn the errors of their ways but not all of them do.
