it was amazing
This book is a literary version of the "Free Mum Hugs" shirts for people who've been in cults or otherwise suffer from religious and cultural trauma.

I feel like I would benefit from rereading this book; there¡¯s a lot packed into it and I¡¯m sure I didn¡¯t understand all the nuances. It kind of reminded me of Hide in places (which is a good thing, Hide was super awesome) but more like, if you start from this place and go left then you get a complet

Ghoti¡¯s last review of the year

it was ok
I struggled with this book, which is largely a historical novel about deeply unpleasant white men and their entitlements and prejudices. I was expecting more of the horror element, as well, which didn¡¯t really feel very horrific and not just because it was bad things happening to bad people.

I did like the end though.
