I'm not really sure how I feel about this book. The writing is beautiful, but it feels dubiously transphobic? Ry sometimes reads as nb, sometimes as a transman. I'm curious what trans and nb folks think of it. I'm reading mixed reviews. But overall, the themes were interesting and it really shows Winterson's interest in AI. ...more

it was amazing
4.5 stars. Shirley Jackson's writing style is beautiful, especially in the first paragraph of this book. The story is very good, the horror is mainly psychological which only adds to the creepiness of it all. The characters were interesting, the fact that you didn't fully got to know their backgrounds really added to the atmosphere of the book.
