really liked it
Enjoyed this one! Coming in as a layman in Roman history, Anthony Everitt does a good job at giving you a feel for the Roman Republic. Along the way, you meet various fascinating people: Marcus Brutus, Mark Antony, Julis Caesar, Pompey the Great, Augustus, Crassus, and of course, Cicero. I did find myself frequently flipping to the glossary to remind myself who someone was after a bit player in the narrative returns 100 pages later, but this is t ...more
