Remarkably Bright Creatures is a beautiful love story of the not-so-usual sort. I mean, the main protagonist is a curmudgeonly, entertaining, Giant Pacific Octopus - that's definitely not run-of-the-mill. Shelby Van Pelt has a knack for bringing her characters to life, and for writing incredibly realistic interactions and entanglements for these characters.
