Blood War is the third instalment of Tej Turner鈥檚 Avatar鈥檚 of Ruin Series.

Now, I must say that I have enjoyed Tej Turner鈥檚 Avatar of Ruin series and have been keen to carry on this series and was pleasantly surprised when he contacted me out of the blue enquiring whether I wished to read the latest instalment.

The book is primarily classic fantasy that very definitely has its roots in such things as Jordan鈥檚 Wheel of Time or other fantasy epics Blood War is the third instalment of Tej Turner鈥檚 Avatar鈥檚 of Ruin Series.

Now, I must say that I have enjoyed Tej Turner鈥檚 Avatar of Ruin series and have been keen to carry on this series and was pleasantly surprised when he contacted me out of the blue enquiring whether I wished to read the latest instalment.

The book is primarily classic fantasy that very definitely has its roots in such things as Jordan鈥檚 Wheel of Time or other fantasy epics that have similar plots. However, Turner has managed to introduce his own mythology into the genre and has given the story a modernistic take on his approach to epic fantasy.

The third book in the story is very much a darker affair as the story continues with the invasion by the Zakaras, a set of mutant beasts that are controlled by their master Grav鈥檈an.

In Blood Wars, Turner brings back together the main party that set out from their respective villages in book one, and were subsequently split apart in book 2. However, things are very different in book three. Rather than been a set of innocent teenagers who had witnessed their loved ones being torn apart by the Zakaras, the party is made up of individuals that had had their own ways thrust upon them, and have been changed beyond what they originally were.

I must admit that I was a little confused going into this book as I was under the false assumption (and it was purely my own assumption coz nowhere has it been mentioned that this series is a trilogy) that this was the final book in the trilogy. I kept wondering how the books would tie together, especially as new characters were introduced into the storyline, and not also that, but Tej Turner brings in new aspects of the world's culture and new people to join in the fight against Grav鈥檈an. However, I managed to work out that this is another instalment and not an end (god did my brain hurt for a while).

As usual, Tej Turner鈥檚 writing was thoroughly enjoyable and it was nice to see that his recent travels(I follow him on Twiiter) have brought new influences and scope to the story, ultimately enriching the story with a new verve.
