wait... this book is set in the real world? why the hell did a Greek show up on the story??

+Gourav, pls get a better map - idk where the borders are, and frustratingly, half of the cities and places referenced in the text ARE NOT ON THE MAP!

I cannot imagine me giving this anything less than a 5 stars. I know already that this will be foing into my favourite books of all time list. This book has gone from peak to peak to peak. for 200 of these gorydamn pages; i've felt like I've been unable to breathe. Bro chill out fgs 😭. This book makes the ascent to Olympus scene in the last book look like child's play.

4.2 - (audiobook)

The sequel to an Empire in Black and Gold (SotA 1) takes the solid foundations built by the first book and takes it up a peg or two to a whole different level. More excellent world building, more intriguing lore, more exciting action and politicking. The new characters and plotlines introduced really flesh the world out, adding depth. The stakes are high, its an exciting and fun read.

Every time I get a little deep on a Ken Liu book, I remember again just how great of an author he is. The characters, their complex relationships and the plot is engaging, fast-pace, epic in a grand sense
He brings to life a world, characters, cultures and events that will have you holding onto your breath.

Brim with political intrigue, this is a very well written and interesting book produced by Guy Gavriel Kay. It has been gripping from the start, thanks not only to the politicking, but the fascinating and interesting characters and by the wide spanning story web being weaved.

I'm ready saddened that this book is a solo book and not a series.

I have read 20% of the book so far and it is very well written. Excellent dialogue, great world building, and very endearing and interesting characters. The story that has been fleshed out is very interesting.

I am captivated by Kay's ability to weave together this story and I can't wait to continue reading. He has displayed such skill.

Really superb book.

"The north remembers" ... chills

ALSO THE YOUNG GRIFF TWIST 😳

Also also what they did (implied they did) to Theon to turn him into Reek is super fucked up!

This is still tracking 5/stars for me and I realised why i am enjoying this so much.
No Danaerys or (lesser extent) Jon chapters. Now Jon chapter became interesting in ASoS but for the the other two, dude was suuuper boring. Dany's were just diabolically bad and I didn't care at all for anything that happened to her outside of AGOT. Rip out those characters and i'd enjoy the book more. Missing Tyrion pov though.

15% Done - I've heard bits before about how this is the least liked entry in the WHOLE series and I'm pretty baffled as so far, it is 100% is one of, if not, THE strongest entry so far.
I mean the inclusion of Dorne and the Iron Islands alone is making me want to speed through this, and little things ive picked up online is that the Martells are playing the biggest game - I can't wait to find out what it is.
