Swati Teerdhala Hi Snigdha! Congrats on writing an entire book, that's incredible! When I first started down my publishing path, I relied a lot on Susan Dennard's website and incredible content to help me understand how to revise and prep my book for querying and beyond. She has a fantastic series on how to get traditionally published. Hope this helps!
Swati Teerdhala There are so many! Some of my biggest inspirations are authors I read when I was younger–Tamora Pierce, Garth Nix, Mercedes Lackey. Recently, some of my favorites are Sabaa Tahir, Naomi Novik, S.A. Chakraborty, and Daniel O'Malley. And that's just for fantasy books!
Swati Teerdhala So many great ones! One of my favorite recent adult fantasy reads was EMPIRE OF SAND by Tasha Suri. In YA, I would recommend AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir (and the entire series!), THE STAR TOUCHED QUEEN by Roshani Chokshi, LIBRARY OF FATES by Aditi Khorana, and A SPARK OF WHITE FIRE by Sangu Mandanna. In MG, I adore THE SERPENT'S SECRET by Sayantani Dasgupta and ARU SHAH AND THE END OF TIME by Roshani Chokshi.
Swati Teerdhala Oooh, I love this question! My favorite recipe for chai is my mom's which is made with lots of ginger and a dash of love. :) This is closest to how my mom makes it -

As for lemon tarts, that's harder. I have a lot of opinions about them (not too sweet please!) but I think this recipe from Mary Berry is the closest to what I like. It has a solid curd to crust ratio, is tart and not too sweet, and allows the lemon flavor to really shine.

Hope you enjoy!
Swati Teerdhala I am definitely a morning writer! I like to wake up, make some breakfast with tea, and then get to work. I find I'm the freshest then and can do some solid deep work.
Swati Teerdhala Thank you! And yes, you can definitely look forward to a bit of an enemies to lovers vibe. I've always been curious about the space between good and evil, the moral grey, so to speak. How does one view the world and how does the idea of what's good or evil change from different POVs? And is there ever a true, singular answer to that question? Those questions were some of the ones that inspired me to write THE TIGER AT MIDNIGHT.
Swati Teerdhala No, it actually wasn't! It's based off a line in the book that only came to life in later drafts. My agent suggested that it could be a great title and I resisted a bit but as always, she was right! It actually is the perfect title and encompasses what the story is about...but I can't say more than that. :)
