R.K. Jackson is an award-winning science writer and editor at NASA, and previously worked as a senior editor at CNN, where he helped launch the network's Internet presence. He has attended the Advanced Novel Writing Workshop at UCLA as well as the Squaw Valley Community of Writers Workshop.

The answer is: Not really. This book drew upon memories that go farther back -- growing up in the South and visiting relatives who lived among the marsh-fringed islands of the Georgia coast, and my early career experiences as a newspaper journalist.

However, I would love to write a science- or NASA-based thriller in the future. It would be a lot of fun. (less)
