Hi, JoAnn! I wrote FAREWELL so that it stands alone, but yes, it's the first book in my new Fatal Insomnia series.

This series is going to have a much bigger, bolder world than the more intimate settings of my other series as the mystery behind Angie's illness unfolds. I'm thrilled that you're enjoying the characters--I kind of fell in love with them and knew I had to give them more stories

Happy reading!

One thing I do struggle with is that every book I’ve written has been written differently—for some reason, my mind simply refuses to accept a template or method that I can use repeatedly.

I’ve plunged into books with nothing more than an opening line…I’ve written one book backwards, scene by scene…I’ve had complex character emotional arcs totally worked out in detail but no clue what the actual plot was…every book is a fresh challenge and a new struggle, but with my deadlines I simply don’t have time for any kind of block.

I guess that’s my greatest secret weapon: give me a deadline and I’ll beat it every time.

“You are never alone when lost in a good book.”
C.J. Lyons, Farewell to Dreams

“In order for me to live life to the fullest is to not enjoy every minute. Enjoying every minute takes meaning out of them. In order to truly appreciate the joyous moments in life, we must embrace the painful ones and keep them in memory.”
C.J. Lyons

“I try to count the stars, turning fuzzy as mist rolls off the mountain behind me. I would have made a wish but there's...nothing. I think of the future, of anything I could hope or dream or wish for, and all I see is black emptiness. Stretching out forever. p.266”

“You are never alone when lost in a good book.”
C.J. Lyons, Farewell to Dreams

“We are not always what we seem, and hardly ever what we dream.”
Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn

“Great heroes need great sorrows and burdens, or half their greatness goes unnoticed. It is all part of the fairy tale.”
Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn

“All stories are about wolves. All worth repeating, that is. Anything else is sentimental drivel.

All of them?

Sure, he says. Think about it. There's escaping from the wolves, fighting the wolves, capturing the wolves, taming the wolves. Being thrown to the wolves, or throwing others to the wolves so the wolves will eat them instead of you. Running with the wolf pack. Turning into a wolf. Best of all, turning into the head wolf. No other decent stories exist.”
Margaret Atwood

Ed Rambeau Thanks for accepting my friend request, C.J. You seem like an interesting person, as well as quite the prolific author, so feel free to tell me more about yourself. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. My first novel is an unusual murder mystery entitled: FORBIDDEN STEPS.

Regards, and have a great day, Ed

Thanks, Kaliki! I was reading your comments on ROOM and they so exactly mirrored my own, I thought we might have similar tastes.

Loved hearing everything Emma had to say (hard to comment since I'm also an author who has tackled those subjects, never want to steal the spotlight, you know?)

Happy reading!
