Isles of Scilly Mysteries
Hi everyone, hope you are all well and reading truck loads of books! This is a quick update on what I've been doing, for the past few years. I'm in the process of finished my seventh ISLES OF SCILLY MYSTERY. The series has been optioned for TV, so I'm hopeful that it will appear on telly, but these things seem to take quite a while, so watch this space. It's been a pleasure researching the series. I've always loved visiting the Isles of Scilly, even though it takes me about 8 hours to travel from my home in Cambridge by train to Lands End in Cornwall, then fly to the islands. It's always worth it when I arrive. The islands are beautiful, tiny worlds full of uncluttered fields and big skies, battered from all sides by the Atlantic in winter. I love going down there in the coldest months of the year, when they're often cut-off from the mainland. It gives me no excuse but to write!

Good news from the USA
It's been a good news day so far, which leaves me wondering what will go wrong, to redress the balance! My agent Teresa emailed to say that Harper Collins plan to publish books 4 and 5 in my Alice Quentin series in the USA. It feels like a real honour, as they publish a huge range of great authors. So, I'm just a little bit stunned. The other good news is that my husband Dave has a read through of one of his plays tonight, here in Cambridge, so I will soon be off to see that with lovely stepson Matt. I suspect if any more good news comes I will need strong alcohol to deal with the shock. Hope this finds everyone well. I've been so grateful for all the lovely tweets abd facebook messages I've been getting lately.

Another book on the way
It's deadline week! My fifth Alice Quentin book, Blood Symmetry, is due tomorrow, so it could be an all nighter. It's been an exciting book to research, taking me to some London locations I've never visited before, including the Church of the Precious Blood in Southwark, and the Old Operating Theatre Museum, close to Guy's Hospital. So I've been pounding the streets, taking photos and loving following Alice Quentin through another adventure. Thanks, by the way to my good reads friends for all your nice reviews for The Winter Foundlings. Wow! Such high praise is going to my head. It's really helped my confidence, because I love to see what people enjoy (or not) about the stories.

Writing like a fiend
Days are busy at the moment, here I Cambridge. I'm getting ready for the publication of The Winter Foundlings, the third book in my Alice Quentin series on 14th August. The book launch wil be at Daunt Books in Cheapside, London, on 4th September, 6.30-8.30pm. Feel free to message me if you'd like to come along.
Everything happens all at once in publishing, so I'm also about to do a final edit on the fourth book in the Alice Quentin series River of Souls, which comes out next Spring. So busy days, but it's all fun.
I'd love to hear from people who are reading my books. Every suggestion helps as I get ready to write book 5!
