Celebrating Nicholas!
I am celebrating the release of my novel, NICHOLAS. It's coming to bookstores in July, 2012.
This is a happy, but poignant moment for me. It will very likely be the last print book I ever have in stores—although I realize that ever is a long time. Things might change in the future, but I don't think they will. Which means that this will probably be my last hurrah as a print published author.
I had a good run. I started out when I had two babies back to back and suddenly needed to earn an income from home. But I didn't have a clue how to write a book or how to sell one. I simply jumped in and forged ahead, being absolutely confident that I could figure it out and succeed in a big way.
After four years of trying and seven completed manuscripts, I finally sold one to a New York publisher.
Over the following ten years, I wrote 23 novels for four different New York publishers. Along the way, I became a Waldenbooks, USA Today, and New York Times bestselling author. I won national awards and received tons of acclaim. Once, I was even picked as "Best Storyteller of the Year" by the trade magazine, Romantic Times. But none of that translated into huge fame or big sales.
When the economy imploded in 2008, the publishing companies went into freefall. Employees were let go and tons of authors were dumped.
At the end of '09, I was one of the first authors to lose my New York spot. And with the publishing industry in such disarray, I didn't see how I'd ever get it back. My writing career had been a stressful slog of starting over and trying again. When I was finally dropped by my last publisher, I simply lacked the energy to reinvent myself yet another time.
I actually quit for a year and a half. I shut off my email and took down my webpage. But a friend bugged me to try again. So I did.
NICHOLAS is the book I wrote once I started in again. I wrote it just to see if I could still write a novel, just to see if I wanted to write a novel again. The break did me a lot of good. It's the most critically acclaimed book I've penned in years, and I've had the most positive fan response in ages.
I've never pretended to be a great literary mind. I don't have any deep or probing thoughts to share, so there's never been anything remotely weighty about my books. They're pure entertainment, fun and fast-paced and a great way to pass the time while lying around the pool or flying on an airplane. If you haven't tried one of my novels before, NICHOLAS is a great introduction to my work.
It was released last year as an e-book by e-publisher, Samhain. So if you're dying to read it right away, you can download it immediately to any e-reader. But to my fans who love my print books, or who haven't made that e-jump that's so popular, or who simply want a book to hold in their hands, the book is coming. And it's coming in print to bookstores everywhere.
I hope all of you will join the celebration with me!

New Contest!
Win a print copy of my new book, MARRY ME! Enter today. Drawing is October 15th!
In 2011, I published an e-book trilogy about the Merriweather siblings, Lucas, Dustin, and Brittney. The three titles were SEDUCE ME, KISS ME, and LOVE ME. But I heard from many readers that they don’t yet own an e-reader, so they weren’t able to read the three novels.
So I bundled the three books into one print book, titled MARRY ME. They are together, in their original format and under one beautiful cover. It will be available for sale at Amazon starting in October. In the meantime, I am running a contest to give away ten autographed copies of MARRY ME. You can enter to win by sending me an email with the word “contest in the subject line. Drawing date is October 15, 2012. Good luck to everyone!

MARRY ME!
Cheryl’s beautiful book, MARRY ME, is now available exclusively at Amazon. This is a collection of her three prior novels that were titled SEDUCE ME, KISS ME, and LOVE ME. The trilogy features the romantic foibles of the three Merriweather siblings, Lucas, Dustin, and Brittney. The original version of the three books was released only in e-format, but many of Cheryl’s fans don’t own e-readers. So she bundled the stories together under one beautiful cover and released it as a print book titled, MARRY ME. The three stories can be purchased as a print book or an e-book. The book is available through Amazon, but will not be available in bookstores. The e-version can be downloaded immediately, and the print version can be ordered, then received by mail in 2-3 days. Cheryl hopes everyone loves the Merriweathers!

New Short Story and Contest
On December 21, I have a short story appearing at Not Another Romance Blog. They are running a xmas event, where they invited authors to write a story about xmas. We were given a specific topic. Mine was “first kiss on Xmas eve. We could use old characters from prior books, write new ones, or whatever. The rules were pretty fluid. I wrote a story about Clarinda Dudley and Captain Aiden Bramwell. Clarinda is a recurring character in my “Sensual Destiny series of PROMISE OF PLEASURE, TASTE OF TEMPTATION, and DREAMS OF DESIRE. She is a white witch and apothecary who travels with her charlatan brother and con artist, Phillip Dudley.
I paired her with Captain Bramwell. He’s a stuffy, no-nonsense sea captain, from a stuff no-nonsense aristocratic family. He made a cameo appearance in DREAMS OF DESIRE and will also appear in my 2013 book, LOVE’S PRICE. They are total opposites, which I always find to be a great match in a book, and I’ve always planned to write a book where they are the hero and heroine, but I haven’t had time yet. So this is a chance for my fans to read more about Clarinda and to see a glimpse of Aiden who’s coming in 2013.
If you go to the Not Another Romance Blog site, there’s a red box on the left hand side that says, “Historical Christmas or something like that. It takes you to the list of authors and gives info about the various days. It’s running for most of the month of Dec, with a new story posted each day and a grand prize basket giveaway of books at the end.
