Dawn LaBuy-Brockett I bought Grill Me, Baby for a plane ride over Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait to read this!

Martha Francescato This is a review of Grill Me, Baby - sizzling hot and scrumptious!

What's hotter - the characters or the food? Both, I say! Michaela Willoughby and Paolo Santos - feisty redhead and Argentine hunk, are the two aspiring chefs contending for the same prize - hosting a TV show. While getting together to rehearse their joint appearance, they also find more than food that unites them. Not that they share their food preferences - they are at opposite ends of the food chain. This does not obstruct their budding romance, while they attempt to overcome a series of obstacles necessary for the consistent development of the plot.

Both main characters, Michaela and Paolo, are surrounded by close friends, but also by loving families. Even though Michaela's parents are not too caring, her sister Tiffany and her aunts Willow and Magda are willing to go the extra mile to help her. Paolo has his sister, Claudia, and later on his mother, his Argentine family, are extremely close, and he is the one who takes care of them and also of his other sister back home. One of my favorite parts was when Bobby's parents tell Claudia that they thought she wanted to marry their son for his money, noting that their last name is "Woodbridge", to which Claudia responds that for her that means "puente de madera" literally, bridge made of wood. Their last name means nothing to her in Spanish! She loves Bobby for who he is- that's all.

The last scene, towards which all the actions in the novel are aimed, is truly hilarious and very cleverly performed. It is indeed the equivalent of a reality show, only that it is more than real - it has not been rehearsed!

Grill Me, Baby, is an excellent addition to Sophia Knightly's novels, where good food and yummy characters make our mouths water! Now, I wonder - what will happen between Tiffany and Dr. Jackson? We need to know, please!!!
