Alexandria Stone  Her Truth

We were introduced to Alexandria Stone in , but it isn’t until The Immortal’s Guide: Another Delacroix Novel that we learn her truth.

-

-The Immortal’s Guide: Another Delacroix Novel; Chapter Seven: A Night of Secrets

~~~
She rolled over, panic filling her as she remembered what room she frequented…whose house she remained in
She froze as her eyes found him near the bedroom door, her savior, Christian Delacroix. She dared not breathe or move, her head remaining firmly against the soft pillow, her slender body tense beneath the soft, warm sheets. It was warmth she was suddenly aware she could not feel. She desired, in this very moment, to be lost once more within her dreams…at least there he did not harm her…or threaten her with his piercing stare like he did now.
It was so terribly hard for Alexandria to admit, just then, that she was happy this…man saved her life. She was, of course, when left alone to her room, her thoughts of escape, yet when he stood just before her (as he so rarely did), she found it paramount to torture that he’d have saved her: The absolute nothing within his eyes, the complete loathing that existed whenever their paths crossed in the house. It was quite clear he hated her, and she couldn’t say the feelings weren’t returned: She felt like his prisoner, although he was said to be protecting her (from what, she had no idea), and it was in his contemptuous gaze that she saw her reality. Without that gaze bearing upon her, she found this whole situation much easier to stand.
It took her by surprise then, the way he took a single, solitary step into the room, yet appeared to have taken a thousand. And still his black eyes would not leave hers.
Before she could muster enough resolve to stammer a word, (what could she say to him?) he had opened his mouth and had spoken, his fangs showing themselves through glimpses of his words. Daggers flashing amidst a blood-stained night.
“You were talking… he said slowly, his voice deep, seeming to resound against the high walls, “in your sleep. I…wondered…if anything…was amiss.
“Good and “Evil and How Subjective They Are
I desperately need to keep up with this blog. It is my bread and butter as it were. ;)
Anyway, school has once again begun and my classes are more work-laden than I thought, but the good news is its forcing me to stay sharp and centered, once more forcing me to manage my time better, and pick up and do where before I grew most accustomed to lazing around as I did over the summer.
Now, the theme for this semester in my English class is “Evil. Or rather “Good and Evil and how subjective those terms are. Which perked me up a bit as in my novel, , my characters show just how subjective these terms are.
Many people have told me that they have found my MC, Xavier Delacroix, to be rather bland, far too perfect, and not as interesting as his brother, Christian Delacroix.
I always smile when I hear this. They root, instead, for the “underdog as Christian as been dubbed by many fans, and want to see him excel instead of his “perfect brother, Xavier.
Why did I write the story this way? Well, firstly it just came out as such, secondly, the story evolved into this allegorical tale of love, death, deception, and hubris (and the downfall that ultimately comes with having such responsibilities thrust upon you).
My characters are incredibly flawed, most are desperate, causing them to become quite seedy, and as such, a few fans have found their favorites to fluctuate with every chapter read.
An accomplishment I pride myself on, if I’m being honest.
I did not start this book with the hopes that everyone would fall in line and love Xavier as much as I did when I first wrote it (I am now mostly indifferent toward him but his struggle is one I can understand wholly), indeed, I had no expectations. But if its one thing my characters (mostly all, in any book I write, I’m afraid) will most often have, it’d be an inner toss and turn, decisions that plague them endlessly and weigh on their shoulders. But it is how they deal with these decisions that set them all apart.
I have never believed in “good and “evil, I daresay I never will. It is just, and has always been in the eye of the beholder.
Keep your bite.
American Horror Story
I’m gonna take a break from my usual writing-only related posts to talk about an interesting, equal-parts disturbing television show, American Horror Story. Now, I watched the first season last year when it first premiered and was remarkably confused but just as intrigued: It seemed with every new episode, more questions were asked and the way things were revealed and brought about was just done…like I’d never seen in a television show before.
Which is why it makes perfect sense that the 2nd Season isn’t an exact continuation of the 1st, but a whole different story. When I sat and thought about it for a minute, I saw how much it made sense. No matter how involved I had become with the family that had moved into that haunted house, they were all *SPOILERS* dead and the story couldn’t continue (and be interesting at that), with all of them just trying, episode by episode, to keep the “new family from moving in for good.
Now the 2nd Season is set in an Asylum and I know old faces return (but they’re playing new characters) and even Adam Levine is joining the cast. I can’t wait to see what the new story is, and what’s going to happen in this new season, but I can’t help but say it premieres at the perfect time. Halloween Season.
With all the good things coming in that month alone, for me at least, I’m even more eager to reach October now. With my other slew of shows returning this fall such as
and
andas well as a few others, I’m gonna be pretty busy this fall, not counting promoting The Immortal’s Guide once it’s out, and the writing of The Two Swords as well.
So there we have it. The more interesting shows this fall shall keep me most occupied, along with college, and writing, I’ll be a busy beaver. But I will keep posting here, naturally.
I can’t leave my lovely blog abandoned.
Keep your bite.
Rubbing Elbows, Six Sentence Sunday, and A Complete Change In Life
I had work yesterday, but my family had a BBQ. After an incredibly tiring afternoon of work, I got tipped (yes!) and headed home to eat food and converse with my lovely family. Eventually, a friend from high school brought his friend and she was incredibly interested in my book. I grabbed it for her and she read the and didn’t stop.
It got me smiling.
As she read, she commended the characters and the detail etched into the scenery. I must be doing something right no matter how much I think I’m not, right?
I gave her and her friend and enjoyed the rest of my night.
I’m currently writing more of The Immortal’s Guide, in time for the Halloween deadline (which has been met with praise by many for it’s lovely timing).
And since it’s Sunday, I’ll leave you lovely folks with a Six Sentence Sunday post:
“Ewer, she said at once, “you are back.
“Yes, my child, Ewer Caddenhall said with a warm smile, his sharp red eyes flashing. “Where is he?
“Darien or the other? she asked him, her expression resolving to that of slight discomfort.
Ewer stepped to her and he clearly towered over her here as he was so wonderfully tall. “Darien, of course…
From The Immortal’s Guide: Another Delacroix Novel, Chapter One: The Guest coming Halloween 2012!
These particular sentences stem from a scene where the infamous Caddenhall family has returned to their home. And as we see here, Ewer, the oldest remaining Caddenhall member is to speak to his Master, the mysterious Darien Nicodemeus. What will happen next?
You can pick up to see! (The first part of The Guest is in the back of the book!) Just something to satiate your urges before The Immortal’s Guide becomes available online.
Keep your bite.
Quick Update: License, Back to Writing
I haven’t been posting much because I’ve been so focused on my driver’s test but I have been writing as much as my time would allow.
Good news:
I got my license.
So with that out of the way, I’m spending the rest of this week and next week writing The Immortal’s Guide, and then class starts in September so my writing will be considerably slowed, but it will continue. :)
The next two months are going to be insanely intense.
Can I do it?
Hell yeah, I can.
Keep your bite.
Poem: Howl
I watched you from afar,
But stood right next to you.
And all the same my tears did fall,
Into the pit I carved for you.
Desire?
I was lost.
Gathering the scraps of what I’d held on to so dear,
I blew the secret when I let you in.
I am the wind,
Wishing you would hear me howl.
