I am a landscape zooarchaeologist and ethnoarchaeologist who is primarily interested in pastoralism, taphonomy, archaeological theory and palaeoecology (including the interaction of environment and subsistence).

More of Lee's books…
Terry Pratchett
“The phrase 'Someone ought to do something' was not, by itself, a helpful one. People who used it never added the rider 'and that someone is me'.”
Terry Pratchett, Hogfather

Leo Tolstoy
“A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them; then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbor such is my idea of happiness.”
Leo Tolstoy, Семейное счастие

Marcus Tullius Cicero
“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”
Marcus Tullius Cicero

Kingsley Amis
“with some exceptions in science fiction and other genres I have small difficulty in avoiding anything that could be called American literature. I feel it is unnatural, not I think entirely because it uses a language that is not mine, however closely akin to my own.”
Kingsley Amis, The King's English: A Guide to Modern Usage

Kingsley Amis
“It is natural and harmless in English to use a preposition to end a sentence with.”

Lee Broderick Usability/navigability of this site continues to get worse and worse. Where has my 'most read authors' page gone?

message 12: by Terri

Terri Mate. The new avi. You did go short didn't you! Flowing locks begone. :)

message 11: by Sarai

Sarai Haha, yes, she would be right on the unnecessary, tis still an impressive self indulgence :)

message 10: by Sarai

Sarai Ah, that collection must take up a whole bookcase at least, impressive!

message 9: by Sarai

Sarai How many Folio books do you currently own?

message 8: by Sarai

Sarai Well, must have = I want now! I now see the dangerous side.

message 7: by Sarai

Sarai Oh yes, I can imagine it being very addictive! You having added your copies has made me want to finally join. It has been something I've wanted to join for a while after seeing a friends copy of His Dark Materials, I was in awe but still a poor student. So thought while I have a bit of cash I'd join, especially as the gormanghast trilogy looks like a must have!

No, I own some, and my girlfriend owns some. I read most that existed then in 1991/1992 and have only very recently come back to it (and fantasy generally). I guess I thought it was childish and I should read more 'grown up' books. Apparently I was wrong.

Terri Do you own most of the Discworld series?

lol Cornish detective series. They formed the basis of a TV series here in the nineties, but the novels are often compared, in style, to the Maigret books (which I've never read). I've read a few of them over the last few years and have more sitting on my shelf waiting for me. Very enjoyable, gentle, quick reads.

Just noticed some more unadded fiction on my shelves. Well, I'll get to it soon...

message 3: by Terri

Terri I had not heard of him until I saw the Wycliffe explosion at Lee home-base. :)

Guess you must be!

I think I've now added all of the fiction currently on my bookshelves. Only think, mind.
