Deadly Memories and Shadow Journey will be at BEA

03/19/2013

I'm excited to announce that Deadly Memories and Shadow Journey will both be represented at BEA this year by Kait Neese. Our goal is to sell foreign rights to these works. Contact @kaitneese if you're interested.

She's also helping me get my marketing data in the best working order. One of the tasks was to see how many pages of Google hits I get and I had an interesting result. I discovered that Deadly Memories won two awards that I didn't know about. It was a semi-finalist in The Kindle Book Review Top Mystery/Thriller of 2013 Contest and named as one of the Twelve Most Memorable Debuts of 2013 by Author Exposure.

The work on Deadly Bayou has been good of late. Watch for news of it's progress here or my Facebook page (sdodonnell) and on Twitter (@sdodonnell).

Celebration Time!

I can hear "Celebrate. Celebrate. Dance to the music" in my head right now. I am so happy to say the novella Shadow Journey is at last avaiable on Amazon for the Kindle. Check back here or my Facbook Author Page for details of my upcoming Virtural Book Tour.

Thanks to everyone who helped and supported me during the creation of this novella. Now, I'm back to work on Deadly Bayou. Sign up for myÌý mailing list on the Contact page to hear about its release.

Inspiration

I did finally get hit by lightning and find a name for my e-single/novella: Shadow Journey. Should be about six weeks to publication.

Am excited about Deadly Bayou after spending some time in southern Louisiana for research. It will be an enticing story in a great setting. Can't wait for my readers to "go up the bayou" with me.

E-book Singles

I sent my short story to the editor last week. As soon as I get it back, I'll set a final publication date but expect it to be sometime in June. Still having to call it "my short story" because I've not yet been struck with the perfect inspiration for the name.

I did research for how long the typical electronic short story is these days and discovered the length is much closer to a novella than a short story. And during that research, I found the term "e-book single" being used. Since these stories are really much longer than a traditional short story, I like the term and will be using it for any "short only compared to a full lenght novel" pieces that I will be publishing.

ÌýHang in there as my developer and I work to set up a new interface to my web page that will make it easier for me to make changes. And watch here for news of the short story coming out soon about Mrs. Blackstone. I'd call it by name but I haven't settled on what to name it yet.

What's Been Up

My life has been seriously impacted by several family deaths and a number of illnesses that have kept me away from working on Deadly Bayou, althoug the story and characters are never far from the forefront of my mind.

I appreciate everyone who has enjoyed Deadly Memories and stated that they look forward to the next book. It's on its way but I'm not sure when it will be finished.

In the meantime, to say thanks to all of you who have shown intereste, I intened to publish a free short story about Mrs. Blackstone. Check back soon to find out when it is available. You'll learn some interesting information about her past that will play a role in Deadly Bayou, too.

Happy reading!

The Best of Intentions

Well, okay, I had the best of intentions when I announced I was started this blog in earnest. Somehow life -- in this case death and illness in the family -- has kept it from getting done.

Tomorrow is the last day of my giveaway for Deadly Memories. Have a fair number of people entered in the contest and have generated some interest in the process.

Am working hard to focus on finishing the setup for Deadly Bayou. I'm getting there. My goal is to have this book planned out in its entirety before I start writing. Although I won't reach my goal of starting the writing the first of June (due to that pesky life thing mentioned above)I hope to do so by the middle of the month.

For a description of what I think about outlining vs. writing by the seat of your pants, check out this blog post from my recent virtual tour:

So, yea me! I got a blog post in this week. Now on to work on that second book. For all of you kind readers who are already interested in seeing a second book about Jayne and Saul, I still expect it to be published early 2014, even if I'm behind a little on my personal schedule.
