I write funny and educational books for kids and immature adults. My new book, TIME TRAVEL INN 2, is for Choose Your Own Adventure. It's an ongoing science-fiction story that Jeff Kinney (DIARY OF A WIMPY KIDS) described as being full of "mind-blowing adventure and heart-stopping thrills!"

Disney-Hyperion published my funny science-fiction novel, THE DRAKE EQUATION. Reviews:
“This novel has a lot going for it. There’s an immensely likable protagonist and his marvelous twin friends, a school life that feels true —particularly the petty weirdness of other kids and a mystery that really engages the reader. King tosses a lot of balls in the air, keeping the twists fast and furious, but thankfully, while the protagonist is suitably overwhelmed,

Thank you for your kind question. I am perfectly fine, thank you, and I hope you are as well. I still post very regularly on Facebook and Twitter, but I just couldn't find the time to do a third post to my blog, which must be the feed here at GoodReads. So I'm afraid my presence here has wilted... Sad! I'd be happy to friend you over at FB (although I have my issues with the site). Hang tough in these remarkable times, Michele, and again, thank you very much. :)(less)

Hi Shamiya!

Thanks for the question. The quick answer is "Nope."

The loooonger answer is that there are good reasons not to download free books. For one, you never really know WHAT you're downloading at sites that offer this service. That's because they are generally illegal—so you're in danger of getting malware and nasty viruses with your download.

The reason these sites are illegal (if they're offering free downloads of books that are for sale) is that authors work really hard to write their books. Even the bad ones and ones we don't like are the result of a LOT of effort. These authors deserve to be paid for their hard work—after all, a lot of them really depend on that income!

(What I'm describing doesn't apply to special free offers from reputable ebook suppliers, like Kindle. And it doesn't apply to writers who offer their own stuff for free, like self-published stuff or fan fiction.)

Hopefully this makes sense—and whatever decision you make, keep on reading!

Best,

“If you are bored and disgusted by politics and don't bother to vote, you are in effect voting for the entrenched Establishments of the two major parties, who please rest assured are not dumb, and who are keenly aware that it is in their interests to keep you disgusted and bored and cynical and to give you every possible reason to stay at home doing one-hitters and watching MTV on primary day. By all means stay home if you want, but don't bullshit yourself that you're not voting. In reality, there is no such thing as not voting: you either vote by voting, or you vote by staying home and tacitly doubling the value of some Diehard's vote.”

“This book is dedicated to my brilliant and beautiful wife without whom I would be nothing. She always comforts and consoles, never complains or interferes, asks nothing, and endures all. She also writes my dedications.”

“Sneaking, Following & Escaping! I got in trouble the first time I went out on a mission. It was just myself and an agent named [name deleted]. As the two of us made dead drops, staked out enemy agents, and stopped for a quick shopping trip (I had a coupon for pickles!), I’d tweet our precise location. (I did this so my mother would know that her favorite child was safe.) But when [name deleted] found out what I was doing, she was NOT amused. She took away my iPhone, broke my Twitter account, and confiscated my pickle jar. Luckily, I had another coupon!”

Bart King Hi Gretchen!

Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you liked the book! As you can guess, knowing that a reader enjoyed a book is the best news an author can get, and that was a REALLY fun book to write, plus I got to work on it with my sisters and a bunch of former students. This made the experience extra-excellent. :)

All the best,
Bart King
