RJ added a status update: FYI! In my attempts to support fewer monopolies (goodreads is owned by amazon), I'm going to try to track my reading on StoryGraph instead of here. Find me there under username "raspberryjam" :-)

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Kurt Vonnegut

Lorrie Moore
“Decide that you like college life. In your dorm you meet many nice people. Some are smarter than you. And some, you notice, are dumber than you. You will continue, unfortunately, to view the world in exactly these terms for the rest of your life.”
Lorrie Moore, Self-Help

Audre Lorde
“There is no thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives.”
Audre Lorde

Francesca Lia Block
“My mother says that pain is hidden in everyone you see. She says try to imagine it like big bunches of flowers that everyone is carrying around with them. Think of your pain like a big bunch of red roses, a beautiful thorn necklace. Everyone has one.”
Francesca Lia Block, Witch Baby

James Baldwin
“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive.”
James Baldwin
