It's not very often that I read a book that brings me to tears but I outright bawled on this one.

"But I can tell you this, without any doubt, that you are not alone in this ultimate struggle for survival I see you still"
1080 AD Empyrean The Imperial City of Altair A power struggle between the Angels. Two houses The House of Grigori and the Bulguardians wage war on the Planet Altair for complete control of the angel world. Abaddon Grigori, searching for the one thing that would ensure his reign and supremacy.
2001 Northern Territory Australia Grace is 8 years old and on her way to ballet. She hates ballet but she meets a friend named Hope who helps her through her childhood and her struggles, and for poor Grace the worst is yet to come.
I was very excited to read this novella. I absolutely love the cover art and when I first looked at it I knew that I would be reading something unlike anything that I had read before. I was right. The Angels Are Here is the introductory Novella to the Paradox series by Patti Roberts and what an introduction it is! Like any novella its short but the author does a really good job of introducing us to her main character Grace and the series. Only briefly describing the war of amongst the angels the story focuses mostly on Grace and gives a very detailed back-story to her.
The Angels Are Here was so beautifully written. I was drawn in and hooked from the first page. Patti Roberts takes her characters and brings them to life for you. It's not very often that I read a book that brings me to tears but I outright bawled on this one. You feel connected to the characters; you feel their pain, their sorrow, and their peace.
I give this book 5 Ravens and I truly can't wait to read more!

** spoiler alert **Move over vampires…the angels are here! Patti Roberts' venture into the world of angels is a captivating one. She offers a point-of-view from within the eyes of several different characters that each provides a unique take on the world. I enjoyed following the innocent Grace during her journey to overcome grief and understand more about who she is. While at the angelic end of the spectrum, you have the mighty Grigori clan ready to offer the reader a glimpse into the world of celestial royalty. There are historical moments along with plenty of modern-day events to balance the plotline for readers of all tastes and ages. Paradox is the kind of novel designed for the reader to just sit back, relax, and enjoy. But watch out! The angels in this story are liable to wrap you up in their spell if you're not careful. My advice? Just let them do it. I did. A highly recommended this deliciously fun gem. 5 stars!

I thought that Paradox: The Angels Are Here was a terrific book. Fast-paced and easy to read, it only took me hours to get from start to finish.
Within the pages of this book, there are 2 worlds. One ancient and one new.
The intricate way in which the author has created and connected these two worlds is beautiful.
I find myself at a loss for words with which to describe the story within these pages. I don't want to give too much away really, it would be a shame to give too much away. Plus, I feel the story speaks for itself.
Once you read the first page, I defy anyone not to be hooked. I could hardly bear to put it down. (Even reading it whilst I was eating)
I was lucky enough to receive the book from Patti, and I am ever grateful that she gave it to me because this glorious first installment in her story has left me desperate for more. I am truly glad that I don't have to wait too long for Paradox: Progeny of Innocence (as it's hopefully out on 30th November)
I am really looking forward to reading the next installment, as I have already read the preface and the first few pages, which you will find at the end of this one.
I hope to find out more about both worlds and how one will inevitably impact upon the other.
I have to say, I already believed in Guardian Angels before reading Paradox. But now, I have an even firmer belief in them. Gothic Angel

The world that Patti creates is unbelievable and I can't wait for more when Progeny of Innocence is released. The Angels Are Here isn't long enough to quench my thirst from this story. Another great aspect is that it is set in Australia, nothing like a home grown book.
Grace is a child that has the perfect family and has an ability to see Angels. She goes to ballet lessons one day under protest and in her reflection of the car window sees another child looking back. Hope is her savior and allows Grace some happiness and gives her confidence to enjoy her childhood. Everything was going along smoothly; every day had a routine, until she arrives home from school to find her world torn apart. Grace is also starting to have visions and nightmares. These visions make Grace faint and she is taken into another time and place in the past. She relives previous lives and her demise. This is something no child should endure, but Grace accepts what it is and tries to move on with her life. She doesn't make friends easily and when she tells Hope to leave, Angela steps in. Angela is still getting used to being a child again; Grace accepts the things Angela says as just being funny, but what is really behind Angela's old soul comments? Is she sent to protect Grace or destroy her? Why is Grace having these visions? Is she in danger and if so, from what?
I loved this book and really became addicted to it. When Grace's life was torn apart I was crying along with her. Patti has a gift that allows the readers to live the lives with her characters. I really would have liked it to be longer and thankfully I will not have to wait much longer for book 2.

Paradox: The Angels are Here Review
Just a day ago, I entered the wonderfully, dark, enchanting world of Patti Roberts, Paradox: The Angels are Here. For three hours, from the first page to the end, the book felt real and I felt like I had actually left earth and entered the world of the ancients. For anyone who wants a very different story, Patti Roberts, definitely will not disappoint, that is if you have an open mind.
The first book was definitely a whirlwind of adventure. From the opening sentence in Chapter one, We are introduced to someone named Juliette, and while she tells us the story, she herself becomes a quiet mystery.
The hook: "900 years ago, my world was a different place But one thing, regardless of the passing time and unimaginable distances that separates remains unchanged. And that is- Love. My name is Juliette, and I would like to tell you a story that stretches over a vast passage of time. I was created long before the spoken language was used for communication. A time when magic existed and myths, and legends and the gods roamed the planets and walked freely among us. Long before the great floods consumed the earth. Long before the Tower of Babel was built, the stairway to the gates of heaven."
Right from the get go I knew the story was going to be fantastic. With the opening statement though, do not let the story fool you into thinking that it is a first person narrative. The story is written in third person and has so much depth involved. The characters are quite complex and the author really got to know her characters.
The story centers around Grace. Grace is a little girl with a destiny. A destiny that still has yet to be answered. What I really loved about Grace was that Grace is a very different heroin from most books in today's world of literature. Grace is young. She is not a teenager. What makes Grace a complex character is that her past remains a shady past and the visions that follow. I still don't even know what role Grace plays in this story. The author hid her role very well. Grace has an imaginary friend in the beginning that only she can see and her name is Hope. I really bonded with Grace and her family. After a tragic accident that occurs in her life, I wanted to tell Grace that everything would be ok. There is more to Grace's story than meets the eye and I love that the author didn't automatically reveal what role she plays.
Several other interesting characters consist of the following: Theria, Abaddon, Pandora, Wade, Brian (Grace's father), Kate (Grace's mother), and Angela. After a tragic incident that happens in Grace's family, Angela appears to calm down the family and get them back on track. Hope vanished in the beginning out of Grace's grief. There is more to Wade than meets the eye and it bugs me because I think he has some connection to Grace's father, but again, the real identity of the characters remained concealed. The only identity that was revealed, was Theria and Angela. I've never read a book that left you guessing about everyone else. There was no indication to state what other role the other characters play which in my opinion is awesome.
The author's writing style comes off as poetic. Her writing was beautiful, and not distracting. It conveyed the message of the story perfectly. What I did not like about the story was the back and forth thing between Grace's visions, memories, and then the world of the ancients. Towards the very end of the story, the author ties up everything with Abaddon asking Theria what she knew about Grace. One thing I think the author is going to have problems with when her book skyrockets is the love interest between Abaddon who is like centuries old, and Theria who is seventeen when she returns back to her world. The ending was very different from everything I have ever read. It's nothing mind blowing but it's questioning and I couldn't help but give a disgusted face at what I read. But hey, the ending was still very good and very different! I'm just warning you.
This story is a must read. This is the kind of story that will leave you questioning and thinking outside the box. Patti Roberts has become one of my newest favorite authors and I will be keeping up to date with her progress on future books. Just read the book and see for yourself what this author can do. With this author there is no limits with her writing and world building, and character development. You laugh, you will cry, and you will feel disgusted. This story is a must read. One of the bests I have read so far. The story deserves 4 and a half stars only because I wish it was a much longer read!!!!
Did you have a favorite character and if so why?
I definitely did have a favorite Character. My Favorite character would be Grace and Grace is who the story is about. I felt bad for Grace when she lost her father. Grace is such an interesting character especially for her young age. Many heroins in today's YA Novels, are teenagers and most YA fiction books do not have proper world building which is sort of frustrating and their characters are cliche. Grace is a very unique character and I felt like I really bonded with her. I love her visions and how they affected today's world.
Who was your second favorite character and why?
My second favorite character would be Thieria. Why you may ask? Theria seems so sweet and innocent but she has a hidden evil agenda. Theria is very interesting and I felt her anger towards Pandora in the very beginning when we were introduced to the little wretch.
I also like Abbadon simply because of his wickedness.
What part of the book did you enjoy the most?Ìý The Angel parts (The ancient world) or Grace (today's world).
Honestly, It's so hard to choose which world I liked best! I loved the ancient world because I was so drawn to their world, I totally forgot about Reality. Their world, the ancient angelic world became my world for that moment of time. I really felt like I was there. As for Grace's world, what I really loved about Grace's world, was that it's part of our world, so I was able to connect with her. She is so sweet and so innocent and you really captured the ability to see through the eyes of a child who is far more than a mere child. I loved the transition from her innocent world into a darker, more dangerous world.
The writing style was simply wonderful. Your writing is so poetic and it's hard coming across books that have this dark, poetic style about them. I got goosebumps because of the dark atmosphere of the story.
What parts or chapters did you enjoyed reading about the most?
Loved reading about the ancient world. It's just so different from everything else. I also loved reading about the Hope and death concept. Like when the older gentlemen towards the beginning was dying of cancer, and he saw the little girl no one else can see. He knew he would not die alone.
What parts did you like the least?
I didn't like the death of Grace's father. I wanted to cry. :'(Ìý I wanted to take Grace under my wing and tell her everything would be ok, and that she had someone to look after her!
What aspects of the story would you like to know more about?
I would love to see more about the ancient world, and why Grace has her visions.
If you could change one thing about the story, what would it be?
The one thing I wish I could change, is that I wish it was longer!!!!
But one very minor change would have to be the back and forth thing. Did get slightly confusing at some parts but I was able to make sense of everything regardless of the back and forth which makes the confusing part unimportant now since it all pulled itself together towards the end. There has to be back and forth for the two worlds!
What are you hoping to read more about in book 2?
I want to find out more about Wade. He seems like he has a hidden agenda.
I also want to know how Grace's Father and how he knew about Grace and Hope in the beginning. When I read that, I was like huh, that's fascinating. So was he really her father?
Overall, beautiful work!Ìý Jessika

Cassie shares her thoughts on Paradox The Angels Are Here
Cassie Gathering Leaves's review
My Rating: ★★★★
In the blink of an eye, it seems little Grace's world has fallen apart. Her father is gone and her mother isn't coping well at all. If it weren't for the sensitive, quiet Officer Wade or her new neighbor friend, Grace might not find her way through the grief and sadness that threatens to suffocate her. There's more to Grace than meets the eye, more than she even knows. What ties does she have with an ancient, timeless world? What role do the angels, good and evil, play in her life?
Did you have a favorite character and if so why?
It was really hard to choose. There are so many great characters in this story. I have to go with Grace because we get to spend the most time getting to know her. In no time, I was completely wrapped up in her life, her grief, everything.
Who was your second favorite character and why?
Officer Wade. He's the perfect guy, and there is obviously so much more than we know about him. I love the way he takes care of the family, and then the way he relates to Grace and especially Angela—the way he guides her along. Angela is a VERY close third. Her awkwardness is endearing.
What part of the book did you enjoy the most? The Angel parts (The ancient world) or Grace (today's world).
I love the Angel parts, but I want to know so much more about them. So, I related more to Grace's world.
What parts or chapters did you enjoyed reading about the most?
I love the beautiful writing style. It was so poetic and flowed so nicely. The descriptions were extremely well-written and easy to follow. I could feel everything Grace was feeling—even what her mother must have been feeling. Each character had their own unique voice and mannerisms, making them all stand out in my mind.
What parts did you like the least?
I think I wish the "evil" characters had a bit more depth to them—more layers. I want to connect with them on some level, but they are just so unlikable. There is nothing to make me feel anything for them or give them any dimension.
What aspects of the story would you like to know more about?
I'd like to know why Grace has the flashbacks and what they mean. She obviously has these angels in her life protecting her, but we don't really get to see exactly why that is necessary. Why did her father have to die?
If you could change one thing about the story, what would it be?
While I think Ms. Roberts has a beautiful, poetic writing style, I felt the story needed a bit more meat. There wasn't a truly clear plot line throughout, at least to the reader. I know this is the first of a series, and I am certain more questions will be answered as we move further, but I just wanted more of an arc and more of a solid ending. It took me a while to really get into the groove of the book, to get to know the characters a bit more, and to start to understand what was really going on. There are fantastic elements to the story; there's just too many things left unexplained and unanswered in the end. That's really the only complaint I had!
What are you hoping to read more about in book 2?
Who is Grace, really? What does the other realm have to do with her life? What really happened to her father? Was he really her father in the first place? I hope the story really comes together and we see how all these different elements fit together.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to continuing the series, enjoying more of Patti's gorgeous writing, and getting all these questions answered!!

You have the gift of taking me into another place and time through words. Tim Lennox
Hi Patti. First I have to say that I have never been so drawn in by any book that I have ever read, until this one. It actually makes me feel as if I am really there. Grace and Hope are without question my favorite. Pandora certainly has my interest because she is human. I do not have any compassion for Theira at all. I dislike her and her ways. But she is a great fit to the story. Still don't like her. The real world parts, are without question my favorite. As I was reading, I couldn't wait to get back to Grace and Hope and the rest of the family. I have told my friends about your book with much enthusiasm. I really enjoy your writing. Thank you so much and I thank God for people like you that have the gift of taking me into another place and time through words. Tim Lennox

Rayven's thoughts on Paradox Pandora She is a chess player and knows how to get under everyone's skin
ÌýRayven's thoughts.
Did you have a favorite character and if so why? I loved Abaddon -His character had so much depth. He is dark, corrupt but honest in the fact that he is. A dark warrior so to speak.
Who was your second favorite character and why?
Pandora She is a chess player and knows how to get under everyone's skin…she could be the catalyst for a good story.
What part of the book did you enjoy the most? The Angel parts (The ancient world) or Grace (today's world) The Angel part in the Ancient World it was very detailed and exciting.
Do you remember what parts or chapters you liked the most?
The end when Abaddon see's his sister again after her time on Earth.
What aspects of the story would you like to know more about? Oh the Ancient World Abaddon the back story as to how they got there.
If you could change one thing about the story, what would it be?
Wishing Grace would have showed her wisdom from her experiences more.
I would like to mention is the Author did a fantastic job of catching my imagination and giving me glimpse as to who and what Guardian Angels are. I found her ideas very interesting and I am sure most readers will easily identify with her
vision of " Guardian Angels"The book fits into the fantasy realm though it isÌýlabeled as teen and young adult. For myself it gave me my first taste of the world of Angels through Patti Roberts eyes and I was not disappointed. All in all a very good read and be prepared for two stories that will comeÌýtogetherÌýin what I hope to be a veryÌýexcitingÌýfollow up book " Paradox â€ Progeny of Innocence" ÌýThis book is a worthy 4 stars!
What are you hoping to read more about in book 2?

Paradox The emotions are palpable and grave, raw. Jayde Scott (Author Doomed)
Did you have a favorite character and if so why?
Abaddon because he's the bad guy yet so very interesting. I could actually see something deep in him, even though he wasn't a fan of mortals. I thought he was right with some of the points he raised about humanity.
Who was your second favorite character and why?
Wade because he takes his role of protecting Grace seriously and doesn't budge, not even when faced with great danger. I think that makes a true hero.
What part of the book did you enjoy the most?Ìý The Angel parts (The ancient world) or Grace (today's world)
I absolutely adored the angel parts because they were like nothing I've ever read before. They were dark and very descriptive, and absolutely horrific if they are true.
Do you remember what parts or chapters you liked the most?Ìý
When Lisbon dissipates into nothing the emotions in that scene are palpable and grave, raw. I loved the description and the gloomy atmosphere scared me to death. That I call earth shattering writing.
Do you remember what parts you liked the least?
Don't think there was anything I didn't like about this book.
What aspects of the story would you like to know more about?
The angels part, of course. I thought that part was so original; I'd love to dive deeper.
If you could change one thing about the story, what would it be?
Take away some of Kate's pain because it was so sad, and yet I know that part is very important to the story arc as a whole.
What are you hoping to read more about in book 2?
The angel houses. I'm obsessed with them because it's all so different to what the world believes.

Is your Guardian Angel From Heaven Or Hell?
What Nuayma Jeggels Author (Raven) Had To Say About Paradox
Did you have a favorite character and if so why?
Abaddon. Dark, dangerous. He's a warrior. Especially his introduction (which was amazing, by the way); the way you described him, what he does, his actions. It all just pulled me in. I kept asking myself: who is this guy, who is this guy, who is this guy?! I really wanted to know more about him; I wanted to know why he was doing what he was doing!
Who was your second favorite character and why?
Grace. Her innocence. There is something more to Grace, and even though I don't know what it is yet, I'm dying to know more about her. I'm dying to know the meaning behind the connection between her and the past. When I read about Grace, I just knew that there would be potential for an amazing character (like Abaddon) and, if I may, one that will be quite kick-ass!
What part of the book did you enjoy the most?Ìý The Angel parts (The ancient world) or Grace (today's world)
The ancient world. It was really, really detailed a different and new world (I love epic fantasy, and that portion of the book felt just like that). I wanted to know more about it, but that small glimpse into the world was just perfect! It made me crave for more and slobber like an excited puppy!
Do you remember what parts or chapters you liked the most?
The introduction (Abaddon and his family) and then the first glimpse of Grace (sitting in the car, the 'imaginary' friend). And, lastly, the end shoo!
Do you remember what parts you liked the least?
Now I definitely don't have a part that I liked the least, but I definitely didn't like that it ended. Just ended.
What aspects of the story would you like to know more about?
The angels and the Grace (the connection between her and the past).
If you could change one thing about the story, what would it be?
I don't know that much about Grace's world, seeing that we're only at the beginning of a (hopefully) fascinating adventure, so right now I wouldn't change a thing.
What are you hoping to read more about in book 2?
Grace, Pandora, Abaddon. The Angel world.
