New Dark and Twisty YA Reads for Fall

Posted by Sharon on October 6, 2022

"Autumn is as joyful and sweet as an untimely end."
Ìý
This slightly unnerving quote, from the French poet and novelist Rémy de Gourmont, nicely conjures the mood of the season. Autumn is beautiful, and a little sad…and kind of spooky.
Ìý
This collection of dark and twisty YA books aims to capture the moody vibes of the fall season. We’ve got dark fairy tales and twisty mysteries, witchy romance and weird fiction, psychological thrillers and straight-up horror stories. Beware, gentle reader, for here be monsters and dead girls and very bad people.
Ìý
For your consideration: Tiffany D. Jackson brings real-world racial anxieties to the classic Carrie-style prom night with The Weight of Blood. Andrew Joseph White introduces a teen trans hero to the dystopian horror template in Hell Followed with Us. And Dana Schwartz goes full historical gothic in the cemeteries of 1817 Scotland with Anatomy: A Love Story.
Ìý
All the titles here are 2022 books and are available now on shelves both actual and virtual. Scroll over the book cover images below for links and details, and don’t forget your Want to Read shelf.
