They hide in the shadows to protect our country…can they protect their hearts?
The Special Threats Response Team hunts terrorists out of the reach of conventional law enforcement.
Their leader, Rose Prospero has already faced her own worst fear: five years ago she was captured and tortured when the CIA abandoned her behind enemy lines. Since then, she’s focused her energies on protecting her Team and her country from monsters like the man who captured her. The Team and the job come first, last, always for Rose, leaving no room for love.
Former Delta, Billy “Edge Price is Rose’s second-in-command and her best friend. Suave, skilled, and a smooth operator, Billy loves his job—and his boss. He can’t have both, so he’s settled for using his position to stay close to Rose.
As they face enemies from without and within, on the run from anyone who could help them, Rose and Billy learn each other’s deepest secrets, face their greatest fears, and sacrifice everything for Team, Country…and Love.

In Edge of Shadows, "The Preacher" is dead and the Shadow Ops team has eliminated the immediate threat, but "The Preacher's" terror organization lives on. The head of the Shadow Ops team, Rose, is under investigation by a Congressional subcommittee regarding her actions and her second in command, Billy, is trying to stave off their efforts to have her arrested for treason. In the meantime, a traitor still inhabits some part of their organization and must be ferreted out before that person finds ways of killing several members of the Shadow Ops team and possibly releasing a deadly toxin into the atmosphere. This was a good ending to the Shadow Ops series. The first half of the book was very good, with several suspenseful events and a few surprises thrown in to keep the reader intrigued. Leading up to the ending, there were some slow parts, but overall, this was a very good story and ended the series with a bang.

"Edge of Shadows" by CJ Lyons & Cynthia Cooke was a good contemporary thriller-suspense that had 'fast-paced, action, twist and turns' that kept your interest from the beginning till the end. This read was the last in this series of the 'Shadow Ops series.' In the search for a traitor among the team really kept this novel moving. The characters were all so well developed...some producing flying bullets, lots of hairpin turns, some were just plain evil...other good...and in the end you will get a real good read from 'The Special Threats Response Team.' In the end we finally learn who the traitor is and it did surprise me. This is a novel that will keep you intrigued until the very end. Would I recommend? YES!
The final of the trilogy and WOW, a fantastic finally with twists and turns that kept me reading way past the 'middle of the night, got to sleep' stage. Wonderfully tied to the first two books, but again able to be read individually due to the way the story begins. Rose and Billy, the two main characters, are written in such a way as to emotionally involve the reader in their story. Reading this as the final book resulted in research about the author and the purchase of more of CJ Lyon's work. Fantastic!
This is the final book in the shadow ops series and I gotta say I really loved this series. Rose is one smart, feisty, intriguing, loyal lady. It was fun to try and figure out who the traitor was. It was awesome that all of the characters played a part in this final book. Lots of flying bullets, hairpin turns, and evil characters. If you love great characters and lots of action than you have to read this series. I LOVED it.
This book is one of hero and heroine who run the special unit for the federal government. This is a follow on from the former books, so you really need to read the others before reading this one to understand completely.
Anyhow, the heroine decides to meet up with the hero of book 2, and as the team has been put on non operating status when things start to happen, our heroine and a few others from the team are put into positions where the heroine is blamed.
Meanwhile the hero, who's the 2nd in charge, is testifying about what's happened in books 1& 2 with trying to protect the heroine has much as he can. After he runs to catch up with the others and help out. Meanwhile, the new one of the heroine's old enemies is looking for her and she's to testify before a committee the next day as well.
However, she comes up with a plan for her and one other team members come up with a plan to go get more info on the plans from the baddies and her old enemy - they are to be back by morning. The hero doesn't want her to go, but she overrules him and goes.
Well it doesn't work and everything goes all over the place. Someone then tries to kill the hero and others within the team. The hero realizing what's happening and is going to happen enacts destruction of all computer equipment and for the team to disappear and dark. The hero and one member are taken by the baddies.
The heroine gets away at the same time everyone thinks she's dead. The hero goes nuts and after thinking it through doesn't believe her death even after the morgue calls.
During this time, the hero and heroine find they really do love the other. As soon as they team back up, the hero and heroine come to an understanding about their relationship. However they must team up to find out who's the baddie and get the others out while keeping everyone alive. Will they do it or will they loose everything?
Loved the plot and could identify with the characters even though at times you wanted to smash heads together because if everyone else could see it but they couldn't? Weird. Loved how something's you expected but the author kept you guessing. Great way to end the series.
I follow blogs of C J Lyons and have watched some of her excellent training videos about writing and publishing. Although thrillers are not a preferred genre, my curiosity about her ‘thrillers with heart tag led me to read Edge of Shadows when there was a free copy offer for review on Amazon. The story meets all the criteria for a thriller fast-paced, a lot of action, twists and turns, big stakes and almost reads like a story board for a movie or TV production. Being the third novel of a trilogy (and not having read the two before) may explain my failure to suss out the team relationships quickly or to fully engage with the characters or the love story. And there was a lot of violence. Edge of Shadows is well written and will surely appeal to those who appreciate thrillers. Although my preferences still remain elsewhere I will try to read one of CJ’s medical suspense novels from the Hart and Drake series, and hope for more satisfaction.
The third and final book in the Shadow Ops series. I loved that all the characters were back in this novel even though it is billed as Billy and Rose's HEA. KC, Chase and Jay along with Lucky are brought along for the ride and we get a very surprising addition to the cast. The search for a traitor among the team is suspenseful and the ending satisfying (even though I really wanted Susan to be the traitor). Lots of action and a build-up to Billy and Rose's moment of revelations though the actual romance was a little lacking in this one.
This continues on from book 2. Chase still has his broken leg and is again, mostly out of action. But this book is the story of Rose and Billy if they could only admit their true feelings to each other before they are ripped away from each other. Seems the whole team is under threat and following different leads in this one. We discover Rose’s big secret that she’s hinted at throughout this book, turns out she’s an expert at hiding things!
Loved the series and was satisfied with the ending. Very well written. Suspenseful. I would recommend getting all three books at once because you are going to want to burn through all three at once. Set aside some time and enjoy the ride.
