Hooking up with my best friend’s little sister was my first mistake falling for her was my second.

But being a twenty-seven-year-old virgin on a pro hockey team was messing with my head and my game.

Plenty of women would have gladly helped me out with my little predicament, but it wasn’t me they were after—it was my status.

To keep things simple, I decide to make Madison a proposal: take my virginity and I'll help the beautiful single mom find her confidence after a bad breakup.

We promised each other it was only temporary, our dirty little secret.

We had an expiration date.

The season would start, Maddie would go to school, and my best friend wouldn’t have a clue about what transpired between us.

Maddie keeps her end of the deal it’s me who can’t follow through.

Full length standalone novel. HEA, no cheating. Get ready for a cinnamon roll hero hockey player, a heroine that's trying to find her way and an adorable five year old boy who steals everyone's heart.

Could not Agree.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how this book has the number of good reviews that it has. I could not get through the first chapter. I do not want to sound rude but the writing was juvenile at best. The choppy wording lacked flow therefore failing to draw in the reader. What I did read was rushed and did entice me to want to learn about the characters. The editing process for this book was a failure. I do not recommend this book.

✨ARC Review

3.75 ⭐️

Now this was damn right adorable😩 If you are a fan of:
Single mom✔️, Brothers Best Friend✔️, Childhood friends to lovers✔️, hockey romance✔️, forbidden romance✔️, then this is most certainly the book for you.

This book follows Madison and Kaleb. Madison moves back to NYC with her 5 year old son Asher after her boyfriend Nathan cheats on her. She stays with her brother Brett at this time. Meanwhile Kaleb who is a 27 year old hockey player has his own issues- Kaleb wants to lose his v-card but honestly cannot find the right woman.. and that’s where Madison comes in.

Both Madison and Kaleb have had crushes on one another since their childhood but neither have acted on their feelings. Now that Madison has moved in with her brother, Kaleb has put forward the proposal that she takes his v-card. Of course Madison has conditions and that is that the agreement has an expired date as she doesn’t want her heart to get involved (Which being quite honestly it was quite too late at that point since she has been in love with him since their childhood) and that they have to keep it a secret.

And this is oh so how the forbidden relationship was born

This is the first book I have read of this author and it certainly won’t be the last as I found this book quite enjoyable and I am interested in reading the stories of the other couple that appeared in this book. I also enjoyed the spin the author took with this book, usually with a hockey romance it is the FMC who is looking to lose her v-card, you know? It’s a classic trope but I loved that in this book that the roles were reversed. But don’t be fooled while Kaleb may be a virgin it doesn’t mean that he’s absolutely clueless, because that man’s mouth is absolute filth👀.

Thank you so much to the author for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts

When he is lacking in experience and she isn't. What's a guy to do? Except make a deal with a girl you've crushed on for years but had to hide it. Because she is your best friends little sister. such a fun group of guys to read about.

This was a very cute read and I love the chemistry between MCs. They also have to hide their "relationship" because Brett is Madison's brother and very protective of her. I absolutely love how Kaleb and Madison's son bonded 🥺 the book has also some drama, mainly relating to their family issues but the author has done it right.
I do wish the main characters would spend more time together outside the apartments, it felt like the majority of the book was spent inside... also that the book would have more sports elements in it since they are hockey players 🏒

3.5 - 4

This was a cute easy book to read and I adored being on board for Kaleb and Maddie's journey. There are a few genres in this storyline but at no time did it feel too much as they all fit together perfectly. Maddie was always off limits for Kaleb as he's her brother's friend but she has a kid which complicates matters. When they are back in each other's lives the attraction is easy to see and I liked how it was written but I liked the easy nature of their friendship. There is lots of fun witty banter that sat nicely with the love story. I adored the bond that grew between Kaleb and Asher and how he stepped up into the surrogate dad role. One thing I did question was the v-card aspect as it felt unrealistic to me but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book.

An easy escape read! One of those books you fall into and enjoy. Kaleb may be a virgin, but in his terms, he knows all about the bases; yes, he does. The mouth on that boy is dangerous!

Kaleb and Madison/Maddie are a great couple, a little forbidden as she is his best friend's sister, but a little secret. A long time love for both, and she just might be the right woman.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

So I feel for Kaleb he's super sweet, sickeningly adorable and almost too much. Maddie has been through it and she blames herself for it when really she's been dealt some crappy hands. She's also Kaleb's best friends little sister you know its gonna be a good read. This book flows so quickly and its easy to read. I loved that Kaleb made Maddie's son just as important as she was. Super sweet story with a really fun ending.

I recently read Anti Player, and I must say, it was a captivating read. The forbidden romance between the main characters kept me hooked from the beginning. The author's writing style is engaging, and the depth of the characters made the story even more compelling. I particularly enjoyed the emotional aspects and the palpable chemistry between the characters. If you're a fan of romance novels with a mix of passion and complexity, I highly recommend giving "Anti Player" a read.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Anti Player by R.C. Stephens is one of those romance stories that will give you the feels. This is the 4th book in the Player series, and it can be read as a stand-alone. In this instalment, the author takes readers on a journey which delves into the complexities of relationships. Whether it's a relationship involving parents and children, siblings, friends, or a romantic one.

The story which unfolds in Anti Player introduces Kaleb, a professional hockey player and a twenty - seven-year-old virgin. Kaleb had a crappy childhood with a father who saw him as defective because he had a stutter. Whilst, his mother valued her relationship with men over her kids. The only true family he knew were the Nobles, as a result of his friendship with the youngest son. A friendship which extended to the other siblings, which ultimately led to him crushing on Maddie is best friend's sister.

Maddie's childhood whilst a bit more stable than Kaleb's had its share of issues. As a result, she always chooses the wrong men. One such choice led to her being a single mom. Her latest choice in men led to her moving in with her brother. It so happens Kaleb lives in the same apartment complex as her brother. Now, while Maddie as sworn off love and relationships, Kaleb sees her as the best person to take is V- Card. He convinces her it would be a short term friends with benefits arrangement and her brothers could not know. How can she refuse to help out a friend and besides her heart would not be involved. But you know what they say about good intentions.

This was such an adorable read. It was interesting watching Maddie trying to protect her heart. An impossible task, especially knowing the crush she had on him as a teenager was very much alive. Once they both got a taste of the forbidden fruit, there was no turning back. However, fears, traumatic childhood issues, an overprotective big brother and the failure to communicate their feelings served as roadblocks to their relationship.

Despite the issues preventing them from acknowledging their feelings, I thought they made a wonderful couple. I kept hoping they would both come to their senses and cease fighting what was obvious to everyone, their love for each other. Her relationship with Kaleb was nothing like she experienced before. The way he treated her was an added bonus. I loved Kaleb's relationship with Maddie's son, Asher. Their interactions with each other will warm your heart. Asher was an adorable child.

Anti Player delivered a story that was not only fun and entertaining but one that also tugs on the heart. Fans of single mom, friends to lovers and brother's best friend trope will love this latest offering from Stephens. This was my first experience with her work, and I look forward to seeing what else she has to offer.

Such a terrific read

ANTI PLAYER is the next addition to R.C. Stephens' Player series, and it was a wonderfully entertaining read. A childhood friends, single mum, virgin hero, forbidden romance which had all the feels.

Kaleb Bardot is a 27-year-old hockey player who kept a well-hidden secret until recently ... He's a virgin. Not because of lack of women, because none of them have felt right. Maddie Noble is a single mum to Asher. She packed them up and headed to her brother's place in New York after finding her boyfriend cheating on her. Kaleb and Maddie have history, they grew up together, so they know each other and their complicated family life. They have always liked each other but neither have revealed their secrets. Seeing Maddie again has Kaleb formulating a plan, will he be able to convince Maddie to help him lose his virginity?

From the moment Maddie and Kaleb locked eyes after not seeing each other for a while the sparks flew. Their chemistry sizzled, and I was invested. When Kaleb suggests his plan to Maddie, she wants conditions: 1) there is to be an expiry date, and 2) hearts are not to be involved. Yeah right, as if that was ever going to happen. What ensues is a beautiful story with plenty of laughter, emotions, friendship, family, and love.

I adored Kaleb and Maddie, they were sweet when everyone was around, but boy did they sizzle when they were alone. Keeping their secret from Brett was fun to watch, that man was really blind. He was an amazing brother though, where Maddie was concerned his alpha protectiveness came out in full force. I loved the banter Kaleb and Maddie shared, I also enjoyed their deeper conversations too, they were always there for each other, especially in times of need. Kaleb captured my heart, his belief that he was good enough for Maddie broke me, he just needed to open his eyes.

ANTI PLAYER was an unputdownable and thoroughly enjoyable read. I loved revisiting with the other players and their partners, they always supply lots of laughs, wisdom, and great friendships. Another terrific read that I highly recommend.

Oh my gosh this book is FANTASTIC.!!..It completely consumed me and it was so exciting to read because the male character Kaleb is a VIRGIN...and I kind of loved that. But don't get me wrong just because he hasn't handed in that V-card,doesn't mean he is naive about sex...He is as sexy as all hell.
I adored this story and Kaleb and Maddie are wonderful, their romance is why I love reading this genre so much.
This is a best friends sister trope...Kaleb is best friends with Maddie's brother Brett, all 3 of them have known one another since they were kids.I think Kaleb and Maddie have always had a bit of a crush on one another but nothing could happen because of Brett.
Maddie has been hurt by her boyfriend leaving him was hard and she goes to live with her brother Brett along with her son Asher.
Maddie is feeling like her life is falling apart and she needs to start all over again and make a better life for her son Asher.
Kaleb has issues of his own and he has held a torch for Maddie for a long time, but he is best friends with her brother and they now play on the same Hockey team together.
Maddie is back...she is a single Mum and is just as beautiful as ever but nothing could happen between them...but maybe Maddie could be the one woman who could help him lose his V-Card.
Yes Kaleb is a gorgeous swoon worthy 27 year old Hockey player who just happens to be a Virgin...how could that be possible? Kaleb has trust issues, but he trusts Maddie.
Maddie and Kaleb make an agreement with one another, Maddie would help Kaleb lose his Virginity and Kaleb would help Maddie forget about her ex and the disaster that is her life.
No feelings involved just sex and fun....Yes when did that ever work out?...
The more time they spend together having "fun" the harder they are falling for one another...they are so compatible, their connection is strong and together they are dynamite.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book by R.C Stephens it was enthralling, captivating and a real page turner.
I LOVE RC Stephens and her words and can't wait for more of this series.

"Anti Player" by R.C. Stephens is a steamy and emotionally charged romance that explores the complications of love, friendship, and navigating the boundaries of relationships. The story unfolds as Kaleb, a twenty-seven-year-old virgin on a pro hockey team, grapples with the challenges of his personal life and unexpected feelings for his best friend's little sister.

The narrative is both sensual and poignant, delving into the complexities of adult relationships. The premise of a proposition to help the single mom, Madison, regain her confidence after a breakup adds an intriguing layer to the plot. The author expertly weaves together elements of romance, friendship, and self-discovery.

The characters are well-developed, each with their own vulnerabilities and strengths. The internal struggles of Kaleb as he tries to keep the relationship with Madison simple and temporary create a sense of tension and anticipation. Madison, as a single mom, brings depth to the story, portraying resilience and strength in the face of challenges.

This follows Kaleb and Madison.
Kaleb is on the same team as her brother (Brett) and they are best friends and neighbors. He is a v*rgin because he has trouble trusting people.
Madison (Maddie) moves in with her brother (Brett) because her ex was cheating on her. She has a young son (Asher) and feels like her life is falling apart. She never went to culinary school, despite cooking being her passion. She has no job, no money, and always seems to pick the wrong men.
Both have a rough upbringing and terrible dads. They were all close growing up.
Now that she is living next door Kaleb is having trouble denying his attraction to her and she's always had a crush on him. One little plan for him to lose his v*rginity to her turns into so much more.

There was a lot going on in this story, several outside and internal forces keeping our main characters apart. They both self-sabotage from fear and self-worth; no doubt side effects from their childhoods. Maddie has her program/schooling she's signed up for and trying to decide her future for her and her son. And they have Brett, her brother, that has warned everyone to stay away from his sister.

There were a few moments where I felt like Kaleb pushed too hard with her. And there were moments when I was absolutely completely frustrated with Maddie. The pacing also seemed a little off at times, like some parts moved too fast while others were drawn out. But all in all, this was a fun read. It was quick, steamy, and I love the found family that continues to shine through in each book in this series. I enjoyed the aspect of having a male v*rgin and I loved that his first time wasn't amazing, it was written realistically.

I'm enjoying the series. I'm anxious for more of Brett!

Kaleb & Madison/Maddie
& of course Asher

Ok I’m just going to start off by saying almost anytime there is a small child in a book I lose it…especially when those children are so well written…Kaleb’s relationship with Asher pulled at all of my heartstrings…Kaleb is 27…Asher is 5.all I have to say is move over Henry & Brett because Kaleb has a new BFF 😍🥰

So far every book in this series I’ve gained a new favorite couple…this book was no different…I loved Kaleb & Maddie’s relationship…how could you not…she was the annoying little sister of Kaleb’s best friend Henry.then over night Madison grew up & Kaleb never looked at another female the same again…well truth be told I don’t think he gave any female much attention…I think deep down he knew she was the one even if he wasn’t willing to admit it because bro-code

Then you have Maddie…this girl falls fast & falls hard every time a new man strolls into her life.unfortunately most of them stroll out just as fast…then she comes face to face with the hot neighbor boy again…now he’s all grown up & still as sweet as ever

Again we get a lesson in this series…speak up…let your feelings been known even if it’ll burn the world to the ground…you will never know what you are missing out on if you don’t use your words.these two were their own worst enemy

Even if you haven’t read the other books in this series this can be read as a standalone…it is part of an interconnected series so we get little bits & pieces from past couples from the series…not enough that you can’t follow along but enough that this book has spoilers about past books

I am ready for the next book…that’s another thing I love about this series…you get little Easter eggs along the way so by the end you know who is next up

Such an entertaining read. I love the tropes in this book brother’s best friends, single mom and sports romance.

Kaleb is a 27 year old profesional hockey player and a virgin - not the typical description for a romance hero in a sports romance! I adored Kaleb from the beginning and loved how he had harbored a secret crush on his two best friends younger sister, Madison.

It’s funny and a little endearing when he gets tingly and excited around Mad Pie (his nickname for her to remind himself she’s off limits) and fantasizes about asking Madison to relieve him of his V status, but he doesn’t want her overprotective brother, his best friend/teammate/neighbor to murder him for looking at her.

Madison is a single mom to an adorable 5 year old son, Asher, who just hast had any good luck. Her childhood left her craving attention from the wrong kind of guys, and she’s now unexpectedly living with her brother, Brett, in NYC. Her secret crush on Kaleb also goes back to high school, and she’s definitely on board with Kaleb’s plan once he gets up the nerve to suggest it.

These two are smoking hot together, very much like teeny who can’t keep their hands off each other and trying to keep their hookups a secret from her brother. They also seem to communicate at the teenage level because they go through a lot of extra angst due to miscommunication and lack of communication.

The story is fun, entertaining and provides some more time with beloved characters from prior books. Yeah! Big brother Brett is a softy under his gruff overprotective demeanor and I’m eager to read his book next.

I received a free ARC from the author and Valentine PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 is the fourth book in the Player Series by R.C. Stephens, featuring a steamy and emotional brother’s best friend/single single mom, hockey romance for Kaleb and Maddie. After finding her boyfriend cheating, Maddie packs up her 5-year old son, Asher, and all their stuff and heads to her brother’s place for a fresh start. She runs into his best friend and teammate Kaleb who grew up next door, and has had her attention for years. In a fun twist, Kaleb is still needs to cash in his V-card, but the only woman he’s interested in is Maddie. She has sworn off love and relationships, but surely a short-term friends-with-benefits arrangement won’t hurt. Right?

This book has so many fun tropes to choose from a cinnamon roll hockey player, a strong single mom with an adorable kid, brother’s best friend, a virgin MMC, and so much emotional baggage to keep your heart involved!! I loved both these characters and their shared history, which just added more depth to their connection. I also loved the cuteness overload that was Asher!! As for romance, Kaleb definitely didn’t need any tips when it came to the spicy scenes! Whew! They brought the HEAT!🔥🔥 My only little pet peeve with these characters was failure to communicate. You’ve known each other your whole lives. You know how you feel. Please, for the love of God, tell that other person!!🤦🏼‍♀️ I laugh, because even though it frustrates me, I do love this world. The found family vibe is really strong among the team and their significant others, and I think Brett’s book is going to be a great one! Don’t miss this great addition to the series!!

I received a free ARC, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

What a fun and refreshing read Anti Player was. The main male lead, Kaleb, is a 27-year-old professional hockey player; he's handsome, a great man, has a big bank balance, runs a hockey camp for children, and he's a virgin. So often in romance books, it's the woman who is a virgin, so I genuinely enjoyed the spin the author put on this trope of having a man who could genuinely have anybody he wanted to be so careful and choosy with whom he loses his virginity—and that finally being his childhood crush and best friend's little sister, Maddie. While they had some mind-blowing moments, I loved the fact that as enjoyable as his first time was, there were also moments of coaching and guidance and even a case of finishing too early, but it was still perfect and realistic, and their reactions to that time together showed there was more to their friendship than either of them were willing to admit.
What was originally supposed to be a one-off moment soon becomes a friends-with-benefits arrangement that leads to feelings being involved even if nobody wants to admit it. The characters are brilliant; they bring so much to the book, from humour to super sweet moments; they've grown up together and shared trauma from the way their parents were, and everyone except them and Maddie's brother can see that they are perfect for each other. The sideline characters really added to the story, bringing support and encouragement as well as adding extra depth to the story. This is the fourth book in the series, so I haven't read the other characters' stories, but having read about them in this book, I now want to.

ARC BOOK REVIEW: Anti Hero by R. C. Stephens

This is the 4th book in the Player series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is a heartwarming story of Kaleb and Maddie, childhood friends that reunite several years later in life but are most certainly at different stages.

“She was looking at my lips and I was transfixed on hers.

Kaleb, a successful hockey player, who grew up in a broken home but found a family with his best friend. Kaleb, with his share of bad luck begins to forge a relationship (and secret crush) on his best friend’s sister. While Maddie had a more stable home environment than Kaleb, she grew up always making the wrong choices in men and finds herself as a single mother.

Fate intervenes and thrusts Kaleb and Maddie back into each other’s lives, when they end up living in the same apartment building. Kaleb, who is still a virgin at 27 and Maddie, who has sworn off men decide to come to an arrangement. Although, Kaleb and Maddie have off the charts chemistry, they also struggle to communicate with each. Will this lead to them going their separate ways after the arrangement terms have been fulfilled or will Maddie and Kaleb fine their HEA?

This was my first time reading this author and it did not disappoint. It tugs on your heartstrings and gives you all the feels. This is certainly a book you don’t want to pass up and the author drops hints as to who will be in the next book. AND I CAN”T WAIT!!!!

A long ago crush becomes the love of a lifetime
Anti Player (The Players Series Book 4) by R. C. Stephens has several sport romance elements I love. Single parent (mom), best friend's little sister, close proximity, secret fake relationship, will they/won't they, denial, and unrequited love just to name a few!
The main characters, Kaleb and Madison, are wonderfully well developed with a shared traumatic history that only brings these two closer and creates a deep connection. I love these two together! Kaleb and Madison unconditionally support one another while trying to keep their relationship under the radar. Madison's son, Asher plays a key role in the development of real feelings as Kaleb and Asher become friends, spending lots of time together. And as an avid romance reader, I simply love a sweet alpha male character that connects with a little one. Kaleb, from this perspective alone is swoon-worthy. As he sweeps Madison off her feet and into his bed (and among other interesting places!) he is truly drool-worthy too! And Madison? She's strong and intelligent but her experiences leavers her self-confidence suffering. Kaleb helps with this too and it is only makes this book more wonderful.
Overall, the Players Series has been exceptional and Anti Player is an awesome addition. This sports romance ticks many favorite elements for a highly engaging and interesting romance read that brings two characters together, taking them on a romantic journey to their HEA.
I read an ARC of this book via Grey's Promotions and voluntarily share my review.

I am loving this series. This one was just too freaking cute for me. I absolutely loved Kaleb 😊

Maddie and Kaleb were childhood neighbors and childhood friends. Kaleb was best friends with her brother Henry and now with her brother Kaleb. Maddie broke up with her boyfriend when she found him cheating. So she packed her bags and her son’s and moved to NY to stay with her brother, the hockey player. And it might not be too bad as she is now living next door to her childhood crush

Kaleb has had a crush on Maddie since they were teenagers, but because of her brothers and his friendship with them, he never made a move. But when she moves in with her brother he is face to face with his crush and her adorable little boy. What can a man do but give her a proposition and see how it goes.

But what was supposed to be one night, turns into so much more, when his the one who can’t seem to walk away Now to convince Maddie that his going to be around so much longer

Loved their story. I was totally head over heels for Kaleb. He was cute, adorable, sexy and definitely knew what to do in the bedroom 😊 Maddie just needed some confidence in her life that she wasn’t messing up her life and that she can move forward and find happiness with someone who loves her too

I can’t get enough of this series and these guys. Nice to check in with previous characters, and so can’t wait for Brett and Matt’s story 😊

“Love didn’t exist for me until you came into my life. You showed me what it means to be cared for, you make me feel like I matter.

This is the 4th book in the Player Series by R.C. Stephens and I love going back into his world every time. Maddie and Kaleb were perfect for each other and were who the other needed to get their HEA.

Maddie and Kaleb grew up together as Brett is Maddie's brother and current teammate of Kaleb. There was an attraction that neither one acknowledged or acted on when they were younger but circumstances put them back in each other's orbits and the attraction is still there. There is some angst and definitely some lack of communication from the main characters but it feels genuine for them as neither one wants to admit what they are feeling for each other.

They have both been burned by family and personal life and have guarded hearts even though they both have huge hearts they wear on their sleeves. Kaleb is such a golden retriever I love it!!!!! The steam between these two is real and you feel it. Kaleb might have been a virgin but he did his research before hand :)

There was family stuff that happens and while it is fitting it just seemed unresolved at times but not enough for me to have huge issues with story.

Brett needs story as there is something big going on there!

I received and ARC for honest review and so blessed to give it.

Kaleb and Maddie have been friends since they were kids. They both grew up in troubled homes and were essentially family. They had a crush on each other as teenagers, but haven't spent much time together as adults. When Maddie moves in with her brother, Brett, she has her son Asher in tow. Asher is young and has not really had a father figure in his life.

Kaleb is a professional hockey player, but he also has a big secret that he doesn't want people to know about him. He has had issues dating, because women are only after him for his money. When Maddie comes back into his life, he feels like he is a teenager again. While he had a troubled childhood, he is really good with kids and doesn't want them to have the same issues he did. He makes a proposal to Maddie that changes the course of their relationship.

Anti Player was such a cute story full of easy relationships and family. I loved the easy relationship he had with Asher, it was like he almost immediately stepped into a surrogate father role for him. I was surprised how quickly Brett accepted his best friend and sister together because of how protective he was of her. I did feel that the v-card scenario was a little unrealistic but it in no way took away from the story. I enjoyed this book, and am looking forward to Forever Player. I hope you enjoy Kaleb and Maggie's story as much as I did.

Blurb

ARC Review: Anti Player

I had such a lovely time reading this one! Whew, who would have thought brother’s best friend plus single mom tropes would be such a match made in book heaven!? Because it was! Our leads, Maddie and Kaleb, have long held secret crushes upon one another. But being his best friend’s little sister, Kaleb kept his distance. The years go by as our leads lead on with their lives in different places, until they are in each other’s orbit once more. This time, they’re older and Kaleb won’t be holding back.

I very much enjoyed how this romance came to be, I loved the physical chemistry but I also really enjoyed the emotional chemistry. This wasn’t just a spicy romance, it was also very much a love story. The narrative allowed the leads to have deep conversations, to open up to one another and I loved that. I believed in their love.

The dialogue was a twofold for me, on one hand I absolutely loved how authentic the dialogue was mostly throughout, especially for Kaleb. Oftentimes, male leads are just so idealized that I can’t say I totally buy into their dialogue through romances, but Kaleb sounded like a normal (cool/good) guy. He was also very much a “bro, and you know what I liked that! But as much as I did enjoy those moments, the dialogue also brought the only issue I had with the book. Too many “OMG abbreviated as dialogue and Asher at times sounded a bit older than his age. That said, those issues were ultimately minuscule, never distracting in my engagement nor detracting from how well I took to the book. Because I took to it quite well! Maddie and Kaleb’s romance was the highlight and I felt every bit of it!

I love single mom romances, so this one was right up my alley. It was a lovely yet spicy love story.

Thank you Grey’s Promotions for providing me an arc in exchange for an honest review!

Madison, 25 is a single mom with a 5 yr old boy named Asher. After catching her boyfriend cheating she has packed everything up and is moving to NYC to stay with her oldest brother Brett.
Madison had dreams of going to culinary school but now that's on hold.

When she gets to the apt her brother is gone but his next door neighbor Kaleb has a key.
The families used to live next door to each other growing up. Kaleb was best friends with Madison's other brother Henry. But now Kaleb and Brett are NHL teammates who's team the NY Rangers just won the Stanley Cup.

She has a problem of falling in love with every guy she meets and it hasn't gone well. Kaleb was also Madison's first crush. She has to keep it to a friendship.

Kaleb is a 27 yr old virgin. He was drafted right out of high school and just hasn't put himself out there. But he's always liked Madison. He decides to make her a proposition which she goes along with but it has an ending date.
"When the chemistry is there, it's like magic happens."

And there's chemistry!

I enjoyed this book and the epilogue.. I also liked the camaraderie between the players and their families. Kaleb was so sweet to Asher and they had a special bond.

Looking forward to Forever Player---Brett and Willow's story.

R.C. Stephens is back with book 4 in the Players Series and there literally could not be a better title for Kaleb's book than Anti-Player. This book is so sweet and fun with little heartbreaking snippets too.

Maddie is a single mom that is desperate to finally figure out her life without a guy- with the exception of her big brothers and son of course. She wasn't counting on was Kaleb- her childhood crush and best friend of her brothers- being literally next door and often wandering into Brett's apartment. What she really wasn't counting on? Finding out that Kaleb isn't just a sexy, caring and thoughtful professional hockey player, but that he's still a virgin and he just proposed she be the one to help him take care of that little fact.

I love the connection and chemistry that just flows through this story. Maddie may have had a crush on Kaleb when she was younger but she wasn't the only one with feelings they didn't act on. Not only was there a deep rich history between these two but they also both had that connection of their childhood traumas that still bled into their lives as adults. Kaleb is a freaking sweetheart- always ready to help care for his "family" but never expecting them to do the same. The way he instantly bonded with Asher melted my heart even more. I loved seeing Maddie grow more confident in herself and allowing her and Asher's circle to grow as the story progressed.

The heat between these two is great and while Maddie may struggle with always falling too easy- Kaleb definitely fell hard and just as easy. The lack of communication though definitely drove me a little crazy along with the build up of them sneaking around behind Brett's back- who admittedly was more than a little overprotective. But overall this story is just simply an enjoyable book to read.

I am more than just a little excited about what's to come for Brett and can't wait to see if his story is going in the direction that I think it might.

I love Kaleb Bardot! He plays for the NHL and does not trust people easily. Women flock to him because of his fame and he has not found the right girl to lose his virginity to and his best friend who he grew up with and lived next door, is trying to get him laid. He is such a sweet guy!

Brett's sister, Madison moves in with her brother after a terrible break up with her boyfriend and finds herself back in Kaleb's orbit. She is swearing off men after all the losers she dated. She just wants to focus on her young son and getting her life together. She had such a crush on him when she was younger and they were all best friends. Kaleb grew up from a handsome boy to a hot man but they are only friends.

Kaleb is happy that Madison is there in NY and is still attracted to her. He had feelings for her when they were younger but she was always off-limits since he was best friends with her brothers. They have sexual attraction now and Kaleb gets the greatest idea that he will ask her to be his first and he would offer her the fun of not falling for the wrong guy since they are friends. Madison cannot believe his offer and agrees before she thinks twice about it. She figures that she won't fall in love with him since she knows its not going to go anywhere with her brother warning everyone away from her.
