Hi! I'm Jaime Rush, also known as Tina Wainscott, author of 24 books and 3 novellas, mostly paranormal romantic suspense. My first book was ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN (April 1995) and my new PNR series, called The Hidden, debuted with connected e-novellas, DRAGON MINE and DRAGON RISING.

Miami, a city of decadence, sunshine, and Dragons, Angels, and Sorcerers. As humans who hold the essence of ancient gods, Crescents walk the knife's edge between the mundane and the Hidden, a dangerous world of dark magick, deadly power, and hot passion.

My first Jaime Rush series, the Offspring (Avon Books/Harper Collins), is about a group of twenty-somethings with enhanced psychic abilities who discover they are the offspring of parents involved in a mysterious experiment. Together they must find the truth and fight an enemy out to destroy them.

I also have a brand new romantic suspense series as Tina Wainscott beginning Jan 6, 2014, with WILD HEARTS.
The Justiss Alliance--Hard Justice, Hot Bodies.

Look for my bargain ebook re-releases! (originally published under Tina Wainscott) Romance, suspense, and a touch of the paranormal!

5 stars Paranormal Romance/Romantic Suspense

This series is totally addictive! It’s got a unique premise, an intriguing cast of young, 20-somethings with cool paranormal abilities, snarky humor, corrupt government conspiracies, uber bad-guys, edge-of-your-seat danger and suspense, dynamite action, and smokin hot sex! It reminds me of an exciting blend of several of my favorite TV shows and movies (think Firestarter + X-Files + Heroes + Push) all wrapped into one awesome, explosive thrill ride, and the books are fast-paced and read like a hot suspense, action flick. I highly recommend this series for fans of action-packed romantic suspense with a paranormal/sci-fi edge.

Opening Line: "This would go a lot easier if you'd stop screaming in pain," Zoe told the muscular man lying beneath her."

OUT OF THE DARKNESS is the second book in the Offspring series which centers on a group of twenty-something’s who are the children of psychic parents that participated in a government experiment. These “offspring have for the most part hidden their abilities and are only now discovering that others of their kind exist. Our heroine Zoë is a great character; interesting, wild looking and a tattoo artist who just happens to be able to move objects with her mind. However because Zoë has no control over her powers she’s shut off her emotions to remain a ‘closeted telekinetic and not be looked at like some sort of freak.

The first part of this story is super exciting as Zoë’s search into her father’s past sees some scary, gun toting bad guys pursuing her as she takes off into the Florida Keys. Unfortunately as soon as Zoë is rescued by the sexy and mysterious motorcycle man (what happened to him?) and deposited at a modernized bomb shelter where she meets others of her kind, it fell apart for me and I struggled to finish the remainder of this book.

Inside the shelter Zoë is introduced to several other “offspring in particular Rand who is able to see into the future and likes what he sees with Zoë. Together the group learns to trust each other as they try to locate more of their kind, improve their powers and determine why “Dark Matter wants them all dead.

Unfortunately this book just didn’t do it for me although in fairness I did buy it on a whim without realizing that it was the second part of a series and I probably would have liked it a whole lot better had I first read and been able to understand the back story and secondary characters better. As it was I was bored with too many bland characters, silly made up slang words (in an attempt at youth and coolness) unnecessary trips out of the shelter to visit grandparents and a romance that took forever to get going.

However all the other reviews I’ve seen have been positive so if you like your paranormal romance with a sci-fi edge, loads of action and some cool chase scenes then you may enjoy Jamie Rush’s unique world of offspring. Cheers!

I usually don't write reviews, only rate them. Since there are so few reviews I am compelled to do so now. I want to start out by saying that I read for entertainment only. I do not analyze plots or characters. I don't look for hidden meanings or for symbols. I found this book to be entertaining. When I bought the book I did not realize that it was the second book in a series. I wish I would have read the first one first. It was not necessary to follow the plot or anything, I am just that anal about that. The only criticize I could find was that there a couple of places that I felt the writing to be confusing. It was nothing major, I just had to go back and reread some to clarify. I don't usually have that problem but there is always a first for everything. All in all it is a good book.

I enjoyed this second book of the series even more than the first. We get to continue on with the story lines of the people from the first book, even revisiting Amy and Lucas's romance a bit. A new character, Zoe, is introduced. This book is about her slow-building romance with Rand. It went off perfectly. Both of them are loners and fight the attraction. Ultimately, they learn that they don't have to be outsiders anymore. There is also plenty of danger and action involved. I don't know why this series isn't more popular. While the themes aren't unique, they are done really well.

*SPOILER FREE

I can’t remember how I found out about this series, but I did and I utterly enjoyed books one and two at the time. Then last year book three, Touching Darkness, came out and I just couldn’t get myself in the mood to read it. Closing in the turn of the New Year I finally did and I regretted waiting this long to do it.

Touching Darkness was such a great read, much more than what i thought. I was kind of reluctant to read it, since it tells the story of two characters we don’t really know yet. I had my heart set in other HEAs, so I was very pleasantly surprised but how much I enjoyed Nicholas and Olivia’s story. But enough of that, this is about the series in general *grin*.

The Offspring series is about these twenty-something men and women with superpowers, who find out that their parents were part of a government program and that their death’s was much more than they thought. Apparently their parents were given a mysterious booster that made them that much more powerful but that also drove them insane.

From book one, A Perfect Darkness, we start getting to know this group of rogues that are trying to figure out the truth behind their special abilities and their parents deaths. They are also trying to bring down the men that experimented on their parents years ago, that now has re-started a similar program to the old one and is using other Offspring to hunt them down. This series is all about the relationships between this group of rogues and each book is the story of each of them finding their love.

The Offspring series is a great Paranormal Romance series that is much more than it seems. In the Third book some of the questions that have been building up in the first two books get answered and we start seeing that the world Jaime had created is anything but simple. I was intrigued and captivated by this series and I can’t wait to read more and more!

Out of the Darkness is the second book in Jamie Rush's Offspring series. Zoe Stoker is a tattoo artist and owns her own studio. Her whole life she has had to keep a tight leash on her emotions. When she loses control things have a tendency to move without anyone touching them. She ends up running for her life when someone tries to kill her. While on the run she is rescued by a strange man who takes her to a group of young people also in hiding. These people all have something in common - some sort of psychic trait.

One of the things that I really like about this series is that it has a full ensemble cast. There are a group of characters who are holed up together. In order to survive they are forced to live and work together. The interaction between the different personalities is really well done. I also like that the story has a good verse evil vibe, but it's not entirely clear cut who is good and who is bad. The varying shades of grey make it more interesting.

The two main characters in this story, Zoe and Rand are both loners by nature. They each have learned based on past experience not to rely on anyone else but themselves. They have kept an emotional distance from everyone. The fact that they are drawn to each other is very unsettling to them. They fight their attraction for most of the book. Rand fights it more than Zoe and after a while it did get a little old. Although these two do end up at the end of the story their declaration of love wasn't completely convincing. However, I do think that there will be room in future books to see these two grow as a couple.

Confusing and stereotypical at times, Out of the Darkness still delivers a quality story. And maybe it wouldn’t have been so confusing if I had read the first book. Honestly, I’m not sure, and while I wouldn’t say this is a must read, it certainly is something that I’m sure that paranormal romance readers will enjoy.

Loved this one even more than the first! The group has finally jelled and become a really endearing family who have each other's backs. The next book is about Nicholas, and I'm sure I will love him, but at this point I'm really dying to read both Eric and Petra's stories. Cheveyo is really intriguing me, and I can't wait to find out more about him!

I enjoyed this Offspring addition. This paranormal is different from all the others out there. It caught my attention from the beginning, and I loved the characters. The romance is a bonus.

I didn't think I would like this book that much because we had only just met Rand, but I really enjoyed it.

Rand was very close to over-taking Lucas on my hotness scale LOL.
I loved his eyebrow piercing and the way he was always walking around half naked and working out. He also had a great sense of humour.
I thought it was really cool that Zoe is a tattoo artist. But what I liked most about Zoe was how she changed throughout the book and how much Rand helped her grow stronger. Poor Zoe has never had a very good sex life (no matter how much she wants to do it) because as soon as she starts to lose conrol, her unfocused Telekinesis makes all the objects around her start flying. But with Rand, he knows about her gift and he wants her to lose control. "I bet sex with you is wild." HOT! She learns (no thanks to her mother) that she is not evil. That her ability is a gift not a curse.

It was great to see all the characters from the first book, and some new ones. I have a feeling that we will be seeing more of Cheveyo, who can turn into a Panther. He shares the same bond with Petra that Amy and Lucas have.
Speaking of which... Amy and Lucas were so intense in this book. Their scenes were really hot. It's sad to see how Lucas's behaviour is affecting him, he no longer has control over his gift and it's putting him and his Offspring friends in danger.
Then we have Eric who is also having trouble. The guys who are working for Darkwell can get inside his head and make him do terrible things. We have even seen him be told to shoot his friends, he manages to take some control back but ends up shooting himself. He is such an intriguing character. He has such a dark side but also can be very caring to the people that matter. I can't wait to get to his book and see which side of him is the real one.

I have to admit that the new couple in the next book really don't appeal to me. We don't know Nicholas at all and Olivia works for the bad guys. Apparently she is also a complete whiner, which always (with me) grows old pretty quickly.
But as always I will find out for myself.

Part two of this series was extremely good. Reading it kind of made me think of the show Heroes, where the people have extrodinary powers and someone is out to use them for their own selfish mean. In part two of the series we meet Rand and Zoe. Zoe is a tattoo artist who also has the ability to make things move. She is warned by the CIA agent who was helping her find out about her father that her life may be in danger. Now she is on the run and is brought under the protection of Rogues who explain to her what's going on. Rand, the hero in this book, can see 10 seconds into the future and tries to help Zoe come to grips with the life they must lead now, while he also tries to come to grips with it.

What I love most about this book is that Zoe never became unafraid. I usually hate when a hero or heroine's life becomes endangered and they quickly adjust to the change and become this kick ass person. I like know throughout the book that both Rand and Zoe continue to be afraid while at the same time being proactive about keep them and their friends alive. I also love the fact that not only is the ex CIA agent the Rogues enemy, but he has enlisted some other offsprings to help eliminate the Rogues. It makes for great, strong conflict. I'm trying to get through number three in the series so I can go on to read Eric's, the most dangerous of the Rogues, story. I'm also really curious about who the mysterious Pope is. His mysteriousness makes him extremely sexy to me. Who doesn't love a 6'5", bald headed man with violet eyes.

I am really glad that I discovered this series as I read both books in 2 days. The Offspring are back and the book picks up slightly before the last one left off to just a few hours later. We are introduced to a bunch of new Offspring, some on the good side with the Rogues, some on the bad side with Dark Matter. It is hard even for the Rogues to tell the good guys from the bad guys, especially when the bad guys are picking up more skills than them and even turning them against each other against their will. While the battle heats up it becomes more and more dangerous for the Rogues to leave the tomb, usually something happens when they do, but once in a while they managed to accomplish something for the group or a personal mission for themselves. With the group getting bigger it they are slowly and reluctantly realizing that here is the family they have been searching for all their lives, people who will accept them for their odd powers not hate them for it. They are also able to track down someone to help them dig into the past and the experiments that their parents took part in. With each book I love learning more about this world and can't wait for the next one.

An intriguing and complicated story of allies and enemies as the offspring of military parents try to survive against a secret government department intent on ending their lives. In book two more offspring come to join the story and the group of rogues continues to grow. Although Lucas and Amy are still in this story the romantic focus shifts to Rand, who was saved at the end of book one, and a new female who joins their ranks. The rogues begin their quest to recruit more offspring and learn of potential new allies. During this quest they will learn of more offspring who work for Darkwell and are able to get into their heads and control their actions. This leads to some very tense moments with the rogues and some potentially devastating outcomes. At times I found the book a bit confusing as dialogue stretches out and we ping pong between character perspectives. Overall I enjoy the story, but it wouldn't make my top 10 favorites.

Jamie Rush is writing a series that keeps you wanting to find out more about her characters. Each character has their own paranormal talent and must face how far they are willing to go to protect each other and stop the ones who want them dead.

Meet the Offspring, children of a mysterious experiment gone awry. They are targeted to die because they search for answers.

Rand can see the future a talent that could get him killed. As a loner he has a hard time letting anyone into his life but the offspring want to help.

Zoe is brought to the offspring when someone tries to kill her for looking into her fathers death. Zoe's talent is tied to her emotions, when she feels things strongly items tend to do flying.

Their only hope is to work together.

I look forward to reading the next books in this series.

Love this series!!! The offspring children are an intriguing group of people, both good and bad ones. Especially the focused on in this book. Zoe and Rand are both people trying to keep their lives the same despite being hunted by the government. Zoe has never fit into anyone group, even with her friends that she loves dearly, but she finds a home with people that have psychic abilities like she does. Rand is a loner who doesn't want attachment after a life of neglect and living on the streets. Together they find in each other what they never thought they would actually want, love. They fight it at every turn, but can't escape the inevitable. Mix in the other members of the group and the agency trying to hunt the all and kill them, and you have a thrilling story from beginning to end.

This is about Rand Brandenburg the offspring that can see 10 seconds into the future, He swore to help the groups of offsprings that rescued him from Darkwell to help them as he can, until a new stranger comes to their underground shelter. Zoe emotions cause her to move things with out her control but also now she is a haunted criminal from the police and Darkwell and when she is rescued by a stranger that can turn into a panther her normal life is long gone and she wants answers about her father and why he killed people long while ago and when she meets up with the "Rouges" and knew what they know she will get her answers plus Rand if he can withstand the impulse to run away.

My review will not contain spoilers. I am only writing my perspective of the book itself.

Whilst I enjoyed this book, it didn't hold the suspense that the first book had. The romance between the two main characters was good at the beginning but then just became frustrating & it felt that the whole storyline became based on the progress of their relationship.

Towards the end of the book, the reader can already envision what book 3 will contain. I am still looking forward to the next one as I believe it will delve further into the Rogues & Dark Matter.

I enjoyed this much more than the first book. Darkness' romantic focus is on a different couple, but the plot still centers around the Offspring as a group. Zoe and Brand make an interesting couple, both loners for differing reasons. I liked the fact that Amy & Lucas' relationship was touched upon instead of being ignored in favor of the new couple. I'm definitely going to be reading more in this series.

3.5 stars it just didn't grab me the way the first one did and I found I was skimming a lot of it.
I can't really pin down why, Zoe was fab and a well-rounded character but she and Rand really didn't come across as a credible couple to me at all.
If you haven't read the series definitely start with the first.
I'm going to read the third and if that one is back to the standard of the 1st I'll continue - otherwise probably not.

I didn't really care for this book to begin with. However closer to the end of the book I got really into it. I did not realize that this book was a 2nd in a series until after I started it, and to begin with I felt like I'd missed something, but by the end I felt well squinted with the characters and their story and I now look forward to reading the next one.

What the hell? There was literally no ending to this one. I understand that there's a continuing story, but the overall lack of resolution was frustrating. I want to keep reading the series, but I'm going to pace myself and read some of the free books I got on my Kindle yesterday.

I liked this second installment much better than the first. Zoe and Rand while new characters were so likable and relatable and their relationship was built instead of sex first and then love. Guess I will be continuing on this series, excited to see Petra and Cheveyo's story.
