Susan I so agree with you, it was a hard one to read!
Everyone has different perceptions and see things through different eye. What made it difficult for you? It is difficult to see the abuse that occurs, the way we may see the world, the way maybe we want to see the world. Some abuse is as much emotional and the control as it is the physical. Many people are under the control of others an do not realize it. I love the book because I feel I can relate in at lease some way. It helps to reflect on one's own life.
To clarify: It's not the language. The events are difficult, painful. Especially so because I witnessed violence in my own childhood.
I agree, I am glad I read it, but I was so angry the whole time. I kept praying someone would help her and that the abusers would be put behind bars or that maybe cease to be abusers from one to many ignorant accidents or injuries. While reading I would scream out loud RUN TARA, RUN, RUN FAR AWAY!! It was awful what she had to endure and I hope she continues to get therapy for all the trauma they have caused her. The amount of PTSD she is probably suffering from a hundred times over is heartbreaking. I hope she continues to stay away from the abusers.
