Yvonne Carmichael is a geneticist, a scientist renowned in her field but one day, she makes the most irrational of decisions. While she is giving evidence to a Select Committee at the Houses of Parliament, she meets a man and has sex with him in the secluded Chapel in the Crypt. It’s the beginning of a reckless liaison, but there is more to her lover than is at first apparent as Yvonne discovers when the affair spins out of control and leads inexorably to violence.
Apple Tree Yard is about a woman who makes one rash choice that ends up putting her on trial at the Old Bailey for the most serious of crimes. Like the highly acclaimed Whatever You Love, it is part literary investigation of personal morality, part psychological thriller.

I recommend Starter for Ten It had me crying with laughter :) I can't wait to read 'Us'

A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.
We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.(

I just finished How I Live Now which I know from the many reviews I read isn't to every ones taste but it was a 5 star read for me, even with the whole cousin love thing which seemed to upset a few people. I have the film to watch tomorrow and I think they changed the story a bit but I'm hoping I will enjoy it anyway. Such a good book - I recommend! :)

I just wanted to pose a question about peoples favourite books and how it makes them feel when they read bad reviews etc.. ? I find it interesting how passionate we can become over the characters and stories we love, often as if we were defending our own family! Or is that just me? lol I read what I thought of as a terrible review of a book I adore The Help and I was actually raging about it all day!!

Hi Brittany, this looks great! I will follow along :)

I absolutely loved the book, but I think I will wait until it is released on DVD to watch "The Fault In Our Stars" - I have been known to embarrass other people I am with by crying...I fee..."
it is hard to describe and it has never happened to me before ... the whole cinema (maybe 200 people, all teenage girls and a few Mums, NO MEN) ...every single person as far as I could see crying!
I ADORE this book, along with so many others, so I was worried about the movie because I also ADORED The Book Thief and then the movie was so bad ( did you see it?) but anyway I shouldn't have worried because It was so good and so faithful to the book...all my favourite quotes were in it and Augustus/Hazel were just so damn cute :) I got called a fangirl recently on a goodreads "we all hate TFIOS" thread which at the time made me laugh but even though I'm 41 I'm definitely a fangirl of this book...God Bless John Green.

I am lovingThe Goldfinch Terry, thank you for recommending :)
