What Members Thought

Even though it was still pretty good, I am lowering the rating I was originally going to give it, based on the idea that I found this one of considerably lower quality compared to the first book.
To be honest, the first 70% or so seemed to drag a bit too much. At times I thought the book was unnecessarily long. The last part, though, picked up, and I enjoyed it a lot. But the original impression was already there and it was rather hard to erase by then.

4.5 stars. I loved it but not as much as the first book. The characters are the standout for me - their personalities, their depth, their flaws & weaknesses, their humour - I love them all though Jesper and Wylan are my favourites (Jesper is so damn funny and Wylan is a bag of surprises). Wow. I just finished this. I need to take a deep breath, my head hurts, my heart hurts, my brain is a mess and I'm still processing.

I absolutely love these gorgeous books by Leigh bardugo. I love all the twists and turns and plots. I feel like this book combines all the things I love about young adult fantasy, the gifts, the friendships, the wonderfull characters with the suspense and the plotting of a great thriller book the likes of Harlan Coben. I loved it and I'm super sad it's over.
